- Today, we are going to check and review the Eufy S100 Wall Light Cam. This is a wired wall light with a WIFI security camera that records in 2K quality. The light panels are not just bicolor LED lights but also RGB. We will check out its features, do a quick unboxing, setup and installation, check the video quality and test out its features and see if this Eufy S100 Wall light cam can be a good option for your home.

Thank you for video review. Was about to not get involved with this camera until you displayed the alarm/siren with color lights going on. This may come in handy if you are using their security bundle with automation in order to notify law enforcement and make identification of distress signal of your home more accurate.
Just upgraded to the new Gen 3 cameras and HomeBase 3 from the eufycam E. Helluva upgrade. The security concerns with eufy have been largely overblown by drawn queens like Linus.
Yup.. I agree. It did mess up Eufy though on their timelines of updates and integration of their products to the HB3...
This Eufy product seems peculiarly specific as to how it can be used. I can't see this one as being a big success unless they do a lot of improvements to it to make it more capable and versatile. Thanks for another great review.
I bet Eufy would see an increase in sales if they offered it without the camera at like 70-80 dollars. Most people I would guess wouldn't need a light with a camera at every light fixture but would like the same style light at everyone.

@@sleeze415 So many people jumped on the let's bash them band wagon. Yes they advertise local storage, but if you want rich notification thumbnails they have to send them to the cloud. This was a total misunderstanding of the facts. So look at the hookup where there is a balanced rational explanation, not a hype seeking load of rubbish. Good review video by the way.

Good review and i thought at first it was a battery camera that you can mount anywhere.. The picture quality is ok and audio is ok the RGB lights is a cool feature. I like the idea of a stealth camera that just blends in as a light. I think it needs more of a software update for better performance..
They also have the S120 a regular battery wall light with a camera (not available yet) which is the one that I will have use in my side yard and I’m interested to check out when it comes out. Thanks for watching!

Can you explain more? Both light panels rotate 360° and the entire structure can move left to right 30°.
General questions. In the event wifi goes down will light activate if motion is detected? Will light still activate if setting was set to sunrise/sunset setting ?

Thanx for video . My old lamps are far from 3 meters from the ground. What will happen if i use these Eufy s100 . What are the disadvantages of using more than 2 meters from tha ground ?
You have to remove the wall cam , after installed, should it go off line, to sync it back up?
Thanks for the great vid! You mentioned that sense this is a wired camera it should do motion detection through the camera lense and not the PIR sensor for further detection range. I don't think it would make a difference, for Eufy anyway, as my outdoor c24 still only detects at 30ft.

Hey Lifehackster thanks for the video. I just ordered this wall light and im seeing some reviews saying that there is a problem with the mount as the two screws on the sides arent enough for the weight of the camera and therefore creates a gap exposing it to the elements. Did you notice this issue for your setup?
They are small screws but they were fine in my setup.
As always, thank you for the thoughtful, thorough review. I am having a hard time understanding why the don't push the base storage and keep doing local. I'm trying to justify have 2TB sitting around. Also I would think it would be cheaper to produce, if local storage was an option not a requirement 🤔
I’m just hoping that they will keep their promise of integrating most if not all of their products to the Homebase 3.
@@LifeHackster my real concern is how quickly the defuser yellows in the sun. The S40 solar yellowed in less then a year. I will run two and hope for the best 🤞🏻
a clever trick is to partially paint the fence white so that the camera shows a good picture.

If the eufy camera loses connection or gets offline. Would you have to unscrew the camera and re sync it

Very good review, thank you for this. However, I do have one more question that you might be able to answer. If I set an area, does the lighting also work on that area or only on the camera, I just read (somewhere ells)that the lighting already responds to 15 m and at 6 m I want the camera to respond just as I have set with the indicated area. I want the lighting to only turn on at the indicated 6 meters, just like the camera. Hopefully you can answer me this question.

Thank you for this excellent review. This product is very fancy looking and the RGB is a good option, however the local storage option is very limited and the use of PIR sensor on this kind of product is a deal breaker for me personally, I wonder why eufy made this choice. I also won't bet on an integration with HB3, just because eufy made similar promises in the past for HB2 and never kept them
They really do need to get their cameras even from the get go integrated with their new HB3…

Can you confirm whether it can do facial recognition once you paired it with HomeBase 3? I know it can do person but their support page says it can do facial recognition if you pair it with HomeBase 3. Thanks!

As I recall we both have similar ceiling porch lights. Mine is not visible until almost under it. I don't see why this wouldn't be usable with the camera angled toward the street. I realize it would mostly a top down view, but would observe package deliveries and also with the "ding dong ditch'em" types. Additionally it would change a manual light in automatic with some fun color options. As to working with Homebase3, I won't hold my breath on that one. Eufy's promise date for picking up my S40s passed months ago.
So basically this is just a compliment to the other cams lol

I totally invested into Eufy eco system from their wifi security (wired and wireless) cameras to their doorbells and door locks. I have 2 issues. I use them for 24/7 non stop viewing via android or IOS tablets. But they only allow 1 tab per account, so I had to create 3-4 accounts and share the cameras so that I can view them all. Can you suggest Eufy people to stop the limitation thing?
second issue is, in last 2.5 years I have lost 6 eufy cameras due to heat issue. As I live in a country where they don't have official support so that i cant claim warranty from them. The system gets damaged if the temperature gets over 86+ fahrenheit. Is there any solution for that? Is there any brand which will work better in this situation?

I was hoping you would do a review on this! Thanks! I agree with you on the negative attributes of the looks. That was my thought. Also why not animal detection stumps me.
I'm just guessing here but cameras in the past had a minimum capacity of 8 GB and some cameras had built in pet detection without a homebase. I'm assuming Eufy is releasing the s100 this way with no pet or vehicle detection and a small storage size to hopefully make you upgrade to homebase 3.

Eufy used to be good but they changed and removed features that drawn me to them,but now I’m looking to change equipment and that sucks because I have a lot of indoor and outdoor equipment.
Can you make a video on how to keep those pesky bugs off the cams signaling false alarms.

I haven’t checked out any lately. I few years ago, Toucan has a camera light kit that you can use with your existing porch lights.

My existing garage lights are currently using the old lighting circuit that has a light switch. This obviously powers down the cameras. I could just take it out and cap the switch, but I was wondering if there's a smart switch replacement. It would be nice if I could wirelessly turn off the light with the switch and keep the cameras on.
Your best bet is to keep the normal light fixture as it is and put keep the camera seperate within the same area. Maybe you can use eufy's solar wall light instead or a solar ptz cam mounted on ceiling or higher up not within an arms reach like eufys s340 cam. This way you can have the best of both worlds for lighting and cameras.
Are you experiencing that the light does not turn off fully, from the app off. Instead of off it switches the light from white light to blue light. 😢 or is this an always lights on device. 😅

You can share the camera via the app. The second person needs to have the app and also an account. As to latency, there is but not bad.

I'm really puzzled at 4gb....I mean storage today is dirt cheap and at the volume they likely buy...is that a $0.10 storage chip? The video was pretty good though. PIR vs active sensing is a head scratcher too.
PS...even with my above complaints...I'm still buying it. Think I have a spot that it will actually work fairly well for. The $50 off helped the decision too.
Just guessing but no pet and vehicle detection with the limited storage space was probably done on purpose to hopefully get you to purchase and or upgrade to homebase 3 as having that will get you that AI and the ability to get more storage. When/if it become available.
The reason is pretty simple. Eufy doesn't want you to be able to install a serviceable amount of memory in this new camera light, but if they didn't give you any option for local recording they know that would turn people off.
Euffy is hoping that people will buy this thinking that the onboard memory is a useful amount, but then we'll just resign themselves to having a perpetual subscription. I think it's a dirty tactic, very similar to what smartphone manufacturers have been doing for almost 10 years now.
If I may ask you at what height you did do the test? I got £100 off and I bought two. It's so easy to install with 0 costs if I will buy a flood light I will require an electrician and it will cost me a couple of hundred pounds. Greetings from the UK.

No. Not with the Eufy.
I was looking at this thing but didn't wanna pre order it until I saw a review first. Now it's out altho there is a delay In shipments "because of demand" .
To me it's odd that there is no vehicle detection when they advertise using this on the front of your house such as near your garage where you would expect to capture vehicle traffic. That's where I wanted to place mine. I'm wondering if that's a feature they can be added on thru firmware updates??
I agree with the design. It's definitely out of place unless you have a modern style. It would sort of work for my construction but not completely. I think I would have to use somekind of "riser" adapter tho because my built in junction boxes were set a little bit further back into the wall thanks to KB homes lol. It's always a problem everytime ive had to change out a wall light fixture.
I like the 2k quality though. I like the activity zones. And motion distance is ok . Brightness seems decent.
Audio quality needs improving though. Reolink is still top dog there.
I agree..but whenever integration to the HB3 becomes available, then you will get all the AI plus facial recognition..hopefully…

It will not work because the camera part of it is not adjustable.
Does it support HomeKit?
Interesting product, but at $150 it's a bit expensive. But I prefer the PIR instead of camera detection because of the false alarms.
The light switch always Hass to be on for the camera to work, correct?

I find the standard white light settings too limited. The warm white is still very cold, think around 3500/4000K. Wish there was an slider to choose, from 2000K and up.
what if we don't have a neutral wire?

I wonder about two things:
1. Does eufy have outside cameras which records 24/7?
2. Can any eufy camera records 30fps?
Also this is wired in, why it can't record 24/7? I mean I do understand it has only 4gb storage (why only 4gb?!) But if it will be capable of connecting to homebase, then they should allow continuous recording
Outdoor cam c22 and c24 record 24/7. I believe all the Eufy products are 15FPS with exception of the floodlight cam 2 pro which record in 24FPS.
I have many Eufy cams and one of my concerns was there lack of continuous recording... so I bought a few of the s210 cams that have 24/7 recording... I love them! I just put them in the areas that I need to constantly record and the solar cams in the areas that I just want to have notifications. It works out pretty good... but I think anything that is plugged in should be 24/7 recording. Problem is that they seem to be sold out a lot on the Eufy website... but the s200 is available, but its only 1080p which for most is just fine.

It’s a shame it’s so big and garish. If it was smaller and more stylish I’d grab two for the garage. I’d also like an option for one with no camera as I don’t need two cameras either side of the garage.
What a pain to set up. I had to dismount it by undoing those fiddly black screws that are too small, to plug in USB & reach sync button.
The mounting is flimsy.
None of this hassle with Lutec Alara I had.

eufy 2k indoor cam motion detection stopped working 2023 after update, eufy not interested
I enjoyed using my eufy cameras but since the whole dilemma they had over user data I don’t think I can continue to use their products. I ended up switching to Ring for my security cameras and alarms. Ring isn’t perfect but I trust it more than eufy since they don’t send your data to some random place in China.

They will have the S120..battery power plus solar but just a regular looking wall light with cam being released soon.
I am only a couple minutes into this video and I will not buy a Eufy camera, and I'm worried about the future of inexpensive home video camera systems in general.
Seeing Euffy eliminate the micro SD card slot as an optional way to record on this camera leads me to believe that the push for subscriptions will be greater than ever, and by eliminating local storage options they are seeing the subscription as far more important than the item purchase itself.
Pretty much all major smartphone manufacturers have eliminated adding extra memory to cameras in order to upsell you on additional memory during the original purchase of a camera phone. Similarly yuffie wants to make using this camera almost impossible without a subscription. 4 GB of internal memory is a complete and utter joke.
We will have to keep an eye out for similar downgrades and performance by other camera manufacturers like Wyze, etc to see if they follow this disturbing trend
They have been making integrated storage of their cameras for a while now like on their floodlight cams so this is not new…the only issue I have is how small the capacity is..only 4gigs on this one…but I think eufy is one of the only few companies left that will always have local storage..(this is their main selling point) and that is because of their homebase 3…which this will eventually be integrated with…hopefully soon…
Eufy have got so bad owning their products now is putting your home at risk, I’m done with them was waiting for this light to come out but they way my system has been running lately it’s only fit for the bin unfortunately. Will be watching your ring videos as I’m switching to anything but eufy 😢
You really need to get all the facts on Eufy before you jump ship... there were alot of youtubers who saw a quick way to jump on the hate bandwagon to get quick views... Your home is not at risk... it never was... All this will do is make Eufy a stronger brand. I switched from Wyze a year ago and will never go back.
I’m still waiting on Eufy to figure out their geofencing nonsense it’s no where as good as other brands. I have to manually turn on cameras when I leave the house to monitor my pet vs nest which was automatic.
Their app features and integration still needs a lot of work.
Everything about Nest has gone down hill since Google took over.

eufy uploads all thumbnails to China clouds servers, really no one cares about this?
There are a lot of misinformation about this on the internet…including what you just commented… for rich notifications and that is to have snapshot or thumbnails, it needs to upload the snapshot to the cloud..not..China but amazon AWS servers… all security companies does this from Ring, Arlo, Wyze..etc..etc..

It came out a few months ago that Eufy had been essentially spying on its users. Personally, I don’t really care. I don’t have any indoor Eufy cams; they can monitor the outside of my house all they want.
@@1086samratI'm sure they are referring to the security issues/vulnerabilities that were brought up at the end of last year. Eufy made a statement saying they resolved the end to end encryption and are adding additional methods to improve security. There is more info on the verge.
I'm not bothered about that as there are no indoor cams in my house and I don't use the cloud or thumbnail notification function. So will be keeping my camera's as I really like the set up
