    Although Eufy seems nice, they were found to be sending local video storage to their cloud servers, something that customers were led to believe was not happening. They also did not have any end-to-end encryption for their video feeds. Some time has passed since those issues were brought up, and, likely, those problems do not exist anymore, but I would be cautious with any company that appears so nonchalant about a pretty serious flaw in their product. Excuse the cliche, but here is a word of caution for potential buyers trying to save a dollar: if you aren't paying for the product, you are the product.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just to clarify your “cliche” … so what did eufy sell? ( because the customers are the product). Did they sell the footage or technically the snapshots from their servers? To who?

    Definitely the most honest reviews related to security cameras here. One thing I notice with people who break into my home is they tend to always be moving quite fast. Maybe in your backyard motion tests and look at resolution results move around far more quickly. The thieves seem to know if they are moving quick these security cameras can struggle in a number of ways.

    • @carlossilva3122
      @carlossilva3122 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      You should have motion activated lights to complement the camera. They work both as a deterrant and support for the camera. Either way - These people will be covered. The camera only notifies you of a break-in. Statistically you should be more concerned about the camera placament, to make sure its not stolen or vandalized that its ability to detect people moving slowly. The tapo at least, can see way beyond what a person can :)

      @@carlossilva3122 I've shown video on TH-cam of thieves coming in against multiple security lights coming on and they don't even flinch. In fact once the lights come on they can see what to steal. I honestly think security lights aid the thieves.

    So true that no single system is best in all things. It really depends on each unique situation. I started with the Ring doorbell and always had issues with it so I didn't go into that ecosystem. I replaced it with the Eufy wired doorbell and was impressed enough that now I have 10 eufy units. Not perfect but plenty good enough for what I need. Thanks for all the info.

    Thank you for another great wrap-up review. My go-to setup is still Eufy. I've had the best luck with them and very minor issues. I saw that they recently released a siren and the price doesn't seem too bad. I want to see a review of it before I decide to add it my system, though. I mainly want to see just how loud it really is. The HB3 alarm combined with 5 outdoors cams with alarms isn't loud unless you're within 10ft of my house. My car alarm can easily drown out Eufy's alarms on full volume. Even one smoke detector alarm is louder than Eufy. So I'm hoping Eufy's siren decibels are close to what my smoke detectors are. Will you be doing a review of Eufy's siren anytime soon?

      @@LifeHacksterHello, thanks for the video… I got a security camera and a doorbell installed through my Phone/Internet company but the problem I have is that my cellphone does not ring when someone rings the doorbell.
      The other problem I have is if I’m at work and the security camera catches someone sometimes I don’t get notified right away.
      The 3rd problem I have is I can’t go back and see any recordings of anything.
      To me that’s the whole point of having a security camera so if something happens you can go back and have video recorded evidence.
      Do the Eufy cameras allow you to go back anytime and grab any footage you want for video evidence of say a break in or property theft etc?

    I haven't done an extensive search yet but watched a few of your vids and it appears that you have done a ton of research on cameras! Almost everything I find is talking about security camera's, recording and play back. I'm not sure that is a real need in my case. My desire is for a camera that I can mount out side our cabin in Wisconsin to allow me or my siblings to go to a webpage and look at the lake when we are not there. I have been to some sites that you can watch a live camera feed of what is happening there. Many News stations have something like what I want mounted on their roofs. What am I really looking for? I guess a secondary like would be to capture some animals if they walk by and record that, but that would be a secondary desire. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Either too slow or non existent half the time. I've been going back and forth with the motion mode and birds eye mode, according to the apps manual, but doesnt seem to work as it should. And I just came to realize that Im gonna need a paid subscription to use these two. I noticed your property seems to be pretty bare, with nothing in the way. I wonder how much if any, difference that make when testing your cameras.

    I also tried the eufy starlight. Also crap. Sensor was not picking up motion. The speaker on it was crap. My conclusion is that 4G LTE are unreliable. The point is you shouldn’t have to keep resetting the camera. It should be reliable. If mobile phones can be so complicated and yet reliable why don’t these cameras which are simpler work reliably.

      @@LifeHackster that’s true however all those brands also offer cheaper models. I can’t vouch for their cheaper models in any way, however as your channel has a lot to deal with security cameras. I would take it as an informative video of how good cameras get at higher price ranges, their life expectancy, build quality (metal instead of plastic) and how a network system is superior to a wifi reliant system. LAN > WAN for security purposes. Thanks for the reply as well!

      Wyze, TP Link's Tapo or Eufy at this point. Local storage and 24/7 recording can make all the difference. At most you will have to route a USB cable over to the cameras. Wyze still locks some features away w/o a sub.

    Hi LifeHackster, I would like to congratulate you on the excellent quality of content you bring to the channel, for me the best in your field. After watching many videos I decided to exchange the old Xiaomi Cams for the Eufy S340 and the E220 respectively.
    Later I will buy the homebase 3 to have local storage. The problem I see with the security of these cameras is that if they reset from outside all the recordings are erased.😒 Best Regards from Portugal

    I am struggling because I have a large property in rural areas and a mesh Network and I have to have local storage. Is Eify the best for this? Ring Base pro forces me to use the Euro network (not happening) and I tried reolink based on your reviews but I kept getting alerts and couldn't silence them.

I am looking to add a digital window to a building that has no windows. So I am thinking of a 4 k camera that maybe has the ability to have a HDMI cable to link it to a tv?

      Any of the Reolink wired or plug in WiFi cameras like the trackmix, E1 outdoor or the CX410 WiFi. The cheapest would be a Wyze camera set to record 24/7 and you don’t have to subscribe to their monthly subscription or Tapo plug in cameras as well.
