BEWARE: Had both since 11/2023. The last downloaded update on the S340 they intentionally removed some Features including Pet motion detection and cut motion detection range in half. Both without notice and just confirmed by customer support that this deletion of service was intended. How can they do this?!?! ALSO: they've cut the onboard memory S380 in half from 16gb to 8 gb!! This is all unacceptable!!
I have an S340 and have also bought 2 for my parents. They are fantastic and the only downside is that it would be good if the camera could angle up slightly more. When using the zoom lens, if the camera is not mounted very high, you struggle to see things such as people at head height unless very close. It would be great if I could see the bottom of my drive with the zoom and see more than peoples feet. You can get around it with higher mounting or mounting to a wedge shaped block of wood tilting the camera back slightly. I also have an E340 which is hard wired with big floodlights which is better but needs a mains supply. The Solar on the S340 is fantastic and my cameras are always fully charged. I have mine paired with a Homebase 3 with an SSD fitted. With that set up the E340 can do permanent CCTV recording. Be aware the homebase 2 and below does not work with these cameras, you need a HB3 or above.
it's amazing and possibly a game changer. I would put the homebase in a really secure non obvious place. If someone does break in they will definitely grab the homebase if it's easily seen. I just wish a company would send me out funky stuff like this.
Hello and thank you for this comprehensive test. Is it possible to schedule the operating hours of the cameras? Maybe it can be done from the Homebase?
hi, thank you, I found your review useful. I have a question - coming from another manufacturer, I had an event where I spoke to the person near the camera perfectly fine, I was not home and we agreed on where to leave the parcel (I used the call button to initiate the conversation) but after the interaction there is no video proof of that. Why is this and how do I work around it?
As far as I have tested with this and other cameras most don't automatically record when a conversation happens. To get around this right before you start a conversation tap the record button and then start the conversation. That will get you the recording you are looking for.
When you set up the zones to record does it slowly move periodically between the zones to pick things up that would not normally be in its stationary field of view?
Regarding motion detection, will it detect objects coming at it from any direction (360º), then point the camera at them? Or do they need to be within the camera's 135º field of view for the camera to start tracking them?

Like all Eufy battery powered cameras, it will die in a couple of years. Since the battery is not replaceable, it is basically a throw away. So the question you want to ask yourself is do you want to buy a set of new battery powered cameras after a few years or look for ones that the batteries are replaceable.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews My S40 only lasted 8 months. Fortunately, it was still within the 1 year warranty. However, since I had 8 months of use, Eufy policy was to replace it with a refurbished unit. In addition, the refurbished unit would only has the remaining 3+ month left on the warranty.
@@joyjoy534 I also have an S40, and while the solar on top is peeling the camera and battery are still in working condition. I can understand your frustration I would be pissed to if I experienced what you have gone through.
Installed mine about 4months ago and per instructions charged the battery fully and mounted it with the hope that if the battery level declines, then it would draw from the solar. It has however died on me and did not integrate with its solar panel as expected for continued functionality. Camera is set up in an area with plenty of sunshine. Any advice on how to resolve this?
When you first took it outside did you check to see if it was showing solar charging at all? Are you mounting the the unit itself of using the extended cable to mount the solar panel in a different location?
Solo cam S340, is a standalone camera, that connects directly to my home's WiFi router. And that's is what awesome for me because of the size of my house and my mesh system spred out. But... And that is what I don't know.. What happens afterwards when I'll plug in the home base 3. (For obvious reasons of more storage then the internal 8gb) Will the transmission from the cameras to my home wifi system will change to the homebase? If so, that is bad for me, my layout of the the house and the location of one on the routers (that the homebase will wire to) will not pickup signal form at least 2 of my 3 cameras setup. So before I buy the homebase 3, can you help me ? I didn't see any of this info out there.
The eufy cameras would connect over the homebase 3 not your homes wifi. However, the homebase 3 after setup could be setup to connect to your wifi if you don't want to hardwire the homebase.
Not worth it, if not ONVIF standard, because you can't connect it to an existing CCTV system. Aside of that, a comparable Reolink Argus costs half the amount.
@@tabs9183 ONVIF stands for Open Network Video Interface Forum. I agree that not having the ONVIF standard is a limitation of this camera but not everyone has the money or space to set up that type of system. Extremely useful how to video. Have been using it for 5 days only and I am very satisfied with the feedback. The recording is amazing 👌🏼

Hello and thank you for this comprehensive test.

Sadly it currenlty does not. You can only pause the camera for a set period of time. But this needs to be done manually.
You can schedule it so you get notifications and / or recording on the days / time of your choice. This can be done with or without a Hombase 3.
Is there a range limit when you use the homebase?

The PIR sensor is for the viewable range of the camera think of it as the target needs to be seen before it will be tracked
