    Every time I start a new video, I first rebuild my donut from scratch with out the previous tutorials and its helping me navigate the interface so much faster. Highly recommend taking the extra time to do this because now I can build this donut in less then 4 minutes

      It's a good strategy to learning since that repetition will help reinforce what does what.. I would do the same steps but putting my own spin on things so that instead of just making the same doughnut you will get out of that comfort zone and see how different approaches affect the outcome. Wanna see if I can do a simply ice cream cone or sundae after I complete it.

    • @lilymnavona
      @lilymnavona หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      this is such GOATed advice. I was actually telling a friend that I was doing this on accident because my dumbass kept forgetting to save or would save an empty file over it. And I noticed I was speedrunning the donut up to the sprinkles and was like yolo let me just keep doing this until its second nature.

    You know, the saddest part about this video series is that it ends. We don’t hear much from Andrew outside of these tutorials for most of the year, and that’s sad, as I really enjoy his videos. It’d be nice if he made more advanced tutorials as well while waiting for new versions of Blender to release.

      @Sin_Alder 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@GrimeTimeGamer Hell, I'd recommend just upgrading the internal storage. These days for similar pricing you can just get better internal storage, and frankly, if files that are a few megs each make someone's storage get full very quickly, then they're in desperate need of more. I mean, sure, it'll take a few minutes to install, but from the sounds of it I'd be surprised if he's even working off of a 128GB HDD. 64GB might even be pushing it. Considering your main drive stores lots of temporary files, it can bloat on small drives to even use the web browser, so external storage is a bit of a band-aid for a more serious problem.
      If someone's never done it before, upgrading internal storage may seem daunting, but unless it's for the express purpose of transferring files between devices, it's really the better way to go.

    At 13:55, The "Front Faces Only" brush setting doesn't prevent you from painting on the far side of the mesh because the solidify modifier has been applied. Every visible face is a front face, including the ones on the underside.

    • @loofa4775
      @loofa4775 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Ah! Thanks for that. I guess we could select all the inner faces and hide those in edit mode before going into sculpt mode.
      I did donut 2.0 but not 3.0. I decided to watch (and eventually do) donut 4.0 as a means to learn the latest features in Blender 4.0

    • @AbdulsalamShaballout
      @AbdulsalamShaballout 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Exactly, but what it does is prevent u from painting on the back face of the face that you're painting. Meaning you'll only paint on the parts that are facing the camera without the paint going through the face to the other side of the same face.

      I followed the tutorial step by step, so when i got to that part tye donut had already been deformed during the grab phase, and now i cannot change it back as it requires too many ctrl+z for the machine to save. What should i do

    • @Sin_Alder
      @Sin_Alder 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@endrek4895 Smooth tool can sometimes fix things (for some reason one side of my icing bulged WAY to the side in a really ugly way while I was working on the other side, and I couldn't undo it), but depending on how bad it is, it may be a wasted effort.
      Personally, as someone with only minor Blender experience, I'd see if I could smoosh it around with the smooth tool, and if it didn't look like I was making progress, delete the icing and start over.

This made me struggle even to navigate in the software. Your guide is very easy to follow and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate that I can work along your explanations step by step without the fear of missing out on anything important. I really feel encouraged by this to be able to finally get a hang of it. Thank you so much for making this a very pleasant and comfortable learning experience!

    Finally made it to Part 4 after 3 months of several starts, stops and restarts. Step 3 was making me a little batty because I could not get the icing mesh to look like the video. Finally figured it out when I went back and slowly did things step by step and of course it was user error. Still pretty useful in learning what can happen if something does not behave the way I expect it. I have tried the doughnut tutorial several times it the different version of Blender but never got past Step 5. This time around I do feel a lot more enthusiastic about seeing this through to the end. I've been doing two doughnut simultaneously. One following the steps exactly as laid out and another with my own spin on things.

    Even though you taught me 3 years ago and since then I've made a decent progress, a donut tutorial is always the best way to refresh stuff. Giving explanations to what the tools do and why they behave a certain way is something I always admired and respected. I love that you ignore the impatient new generations and you're just taking your time to properly educate, makes me so happy! Thank you again!

    Ok, to be honest, the early version was very hard to learn and I surrender thousand times, but 4.1 is astonishing!
    THANK YOU SO MUCH 🍻

    7:58 there is alternative modifier to subdivision surface, that allows to sculpt ON the modified surface. It's called MULTIRESOLUTION MODIFIER. It works very similar to subdivision as for useage, but allows for sculpting it without applying modifier. It also supports (if i recall) dyntopo

    The main reason my donut looks good is because of how well you explain things. Otherwise, I would have been stuck on part 2. Great video.

    Never give up, never surrender. I've done lots of modeling using apps like Fusion 360. Blender is more an artistic form of Fusion IMHO. I really want to learn Blender but still find it overwhelming and confusing as there are controls all over the place in the app. Sometimes there appears to be no rhyme or reason where they put options in menus for functions/features. Best recommendation I have to others who want to learn Blender from this video is to watch them over and over until you get it. I personally watched parts 3-6 several times.🤔

    Thank you so much for your great Blender-Tutorial-Series! Im coming from 3ds Max and Maya, and to be honest, ive had a hard time, to get used to the blender hotkey and navigation-system.. I mean it isnt a complete different pair of shoes, but also it isnt that easy. But thanks to your great tutorials, i think i can learn it 😊😊👍👍

    Have some prior blender experience doing the sword tutorial for 3.4 and using CAD sketcher. I sat down smoked a bong and expected to do another tutorial needing my handheld but so far everything is working great, i've learned a few things and i have a plain grey icing donut. It'd be cool to learn how to take these skills and apply them to reference images to start making low poly models
