One you could do to make your torpedo nose round all the way was put the distance sensor farther back and set the offset of the sensor to like 0.1 or 0.3 depending on where you put it.

dude u have to have more situational awarness.. 80% of the time u actually look around is to look at the dude that u shot down for, i guess.... cinematic purposes? u NEED to have mapped out in your head - where the enemy is, what kind of plane he is flying, their altitude, rough heading and distance from you. without that, ur just a yummy free kill lol ps. this is NOT a point and click game. its more of a 6d chess game ps 2: never commit ot a head on too much... there were so many instances of you just spraying the guy down, killing him, and STILL spraying, just exposing yourself to the alredy sent, 20mm high explosive round. spray a good amount, and BREAK OFF.
