I tried and ... MX Linux is a pile of total rubbish, Zorin 16.3 is a KING, not Zorin 17!
MX Linux working great on my 10 year laptop
I decided to get Linux because I finally got frustrated enough to ditch windows. Their updates keep getting worse, not better. And so? I switched. Even though I feel rather dumb while trying to use it lol
Why gnome though :/
Which template is it?
Use helix, make your life easier.
I have just installed it, seems ok, on my ThinkPad, open ai recommended it for my usecase, hobby. just getting used to it. I'm newbie ish to linux so it is a lot of fun, thanks for the video. I love the look you achieved and as a beginner I would like to learn how to do that....have you done a video on it.
Great videos mate I hope you start uploading again soon
After moving away from KDE for a few years I had completely forgotten about kwin scripts! Thanks for reminding me
Thank you very for this content. Much appreciated
I jus t installed MX and so far so good. I like it better then Mint and Bodhi.
Thank you for this video. I've installed micro and haven't looked back.
How can I revert the changes that KWin script implemented? I removed the script but Dolphin still loses its individual [Min Max Close] bar when fullscreened.
Microemacs is much better than either : th-cam.com/video/FEFJNhI3D9w/w-d-xo.html
Do you know of a Windows Button Applet for plasma 6?
You can simply use the built in Special Window Settings if you want translucent windows. Kvantum’s UI needs a wiki to understand and it will take you some time to put things back how they were if you don’t like the results. Ask me how I know.
2:28 The story came here because of "pico" editor ;)
Switching to Micro 👌
I installed it on a formerly windows machine (a pc actually from microsoft) and MX didn't go well at all. I ditched it and installed Ubuntu, and that worked perfectly. I could even install the AOC monitor driver to have two monitors.
I suggest creating the /home entry in fstab AFTER installation: here's why ... I can't remember which distro it was (or if it even matters) but years ago I made the mistake of specifying a separate /home mount point DURING installation. Much later, for some reason I needed to start my computer WITHOUT having my second disk attached. I was most horrified to find that the GUI would not load, because there was NO /home folders on the boot drive. Ever since, I have added the /home mount point AFTER the OS is installed & after the first boot! That way, if I ever need to log in WITHOUT having that second disk installed, then at least I will have a default /home folder available =)
Interesting points made here. I recommend checking out the Astirna New Tab extension if you want a more organized new tab experience.
Nice insights on the software options. I recently started using Astirna New Tab and it has made my browsing experience a lot more productive.
my favorite part is where the window wiggles !! :D
Man, you did a great job explaining this. Thank you. I have never understood it as well as you explained it to us. This was very helpful. Glad that I found your channel.
Thanks for your excellent video which is a potential life saver. However, I'm coming from a long time Windows experience so some (much?) of your very straight forward instructions are beyond my comprehension. Allow me to start my quest by stating that (i) I've settled on Ubuntu to replace Windows as my network storage, and (ii) that I feel I only need to create an environment that allows certain files (mostly music and photos) to be available across the LAN. I have a Ubuntu server installed on a 500GB HDD with 2x 4TB disks as my data storage. But from there I'm stuck in terms of making the Ubuntu storage available to the rest of my (Windows) LAN. Any help you can offer or sources you can suggest to help make this happen would be greatly appreciated.
Great balanced review. Thanks
i am on mint xfce, and want to swap to debian 12 with kde. i know its.. plasma 5 but only reason i don't swap it that everything is works . >.>
Debian 12 with KDE is a great experience, was my main distro for about 1 year. Now I use Fedora with KDE because I like the balance between stability and new software, is like the baby of Debian and Arch.
Is there any real effective guide on, how to install Kvantum Theme Manager qt5in KDE Plasma on Debian 12? It cannot be installed directly from Software Manager in the KDE menu. ThankYou
Seem like toward the end you re-did what you previously moved. It was confusing, the /home part. I don't understand why you did that last part.
I might do this on my Linux Mint computer. I've heard about people doing distro hopping in order to find the one best for them but I've always been concerned about losing my files in the process. I may not try out new distros but my computer is presently set to legacy booting rather than the new UEFI way of doing things and because of it I can't seem to use a USB stick to install an new version of the OS and have to burn a disk instead.
I kind of wish there was a way to install programs to secondary drives in Linux like you can in Windows.
Microemacs is much better than micro: th-cam.com/video/FEFJNhI3D9w/w-d-xo.html
14:10 Most users will create a subdirectory ("folder" and "directory" can be used interchangeably) to mount storage to, never directly to `/mnt`. (Ignore the `, or back-ticks.) 15:14 Or you could enter `cp -a`. The `-a`, or archive, is the same as `-dr --preserve=all`. 16:15 Using `ls -a` at the terminal would be better. This way you can verify the hidden "dot" files (files, or directories, with names beginning with a period) were copied, as well.
At the end you should better try mount your /Home BEFORE rebooting your PC ... Good video.
Thank you so much for this!! ❤️
MX linux is proof that you can fit pretty much what most people need for few clicks satisfied setup in less than 3GB , and XFCE is the best candidate to please most people
I have never had a broken package experience with Mint in 6 years. I had one the first night with Ubuntu Cinnamon but because I've had them before with Ubuntu I was able to work through it. I recommend them both. You get quite a bit more software with Ubuntu but plenty with Mint and you can add way more with both for free.
Nano's pretty good, almost all of these problems can be solved with a nanorc file.
When installing mx Linux I can't see any WiFi on, my laptop doesn't have ethernet connectors, it has intel WiFi 6 201, any clue?
It works. Doesn't 7:19 break. Does what I want. Has tools to do things I've forgotten how to do from CLI. No longer distro hopping, since 2014. And it still runs sysdinit.

@@ramboi9498 Don't you have a ethernet icon by the speaker to right click for Wi-Fi?
nothing but yet another ugly and boring distro..
It is looking cool! But i'm still not sure if it is the best alternative to Windows yet. Because I'm still in Windows 11 and if u have used Windows so long it is hard to get into a Linux System if u don't know what to do. And that is the biggest Problem for me. I really wanna try it out and i have it a bit via the Virtual Box here on Windows, but sometimes there the Bootscreen lagged after the Installation and didn't start, 2. I didn't have much space to install some stuff and test it (I have 2 hard drives in my pc: 1. is a SSD with 120 GB where windows is now at and a HDD with 1 TB where i install my other stuff). I've heard Linux decide for itself where to install the stuff but if you don't have enough space i don't know what to do then. There was no workplace like in Windows where i can see how much space i have left and also i don't know how to get linux to install in my 2. Hard Drive. Maybe you could say something about that :) I'm very intresting to hear ur oppinion :)
THX
micro is 1000x nano
It really works ! Thank You a lot !! :D
the problem I have with other distros, is just they look cartoony. I have tried so many other distros but always come back to mx linux, but they need to do something with gaming
What is the icon theme?!?
Based on Version 22.04 when it came out. Its already outdated before it even came out.
Why does everyone love MX Linux? Maybe it's because: 1) Live usb functionality (MY os, setup MY way, available to ME, on EVERY machine capable of booting from a thumb drive). 2) Mx Snapshot (either just the system I've customized, or that plus all MY other stuff too). 3) Low resource usage 4) Mx whatever AHS (advanced Hardware Stack) for even the newest computers. 5) Mx Tools (all of which are extremely useful baked right in). 6) Mx one on one help utility 7) The first linux distro whose forum members aren't a$$holes when asking questions. 8) How-to videos by one of the people who actually help create mx linux. 9) Updates that take a whopping 2 minutes to download AND INSTALL. 10) Mx linux is an operating system that is trying to be an operating system. Instead of an advertising platform that has some OS functionality built in (Windows 8 and above).
