19:23 .. Those look VERY similar to Hooker's Cast Iron "Corvette Manifolds" .. I'm getting for my Small Bock Build ... I call them Cast Iron Headers :) I have a problem with traditional tube headers, they ALWAYS seem to leak after a few months?? Maybe I bought cheapy's at the time, But I switched to "Cast Iron Headers" like these, they always seal up just as good as Stock ones. I'm still a few moths away from the Small Bock build, I might consider these Summit ones! I've always had good luck with everything from Summit, and their prices are always pretty good too! :)

15:17 In most racing rule books it is strictly against the rules to grind flush ANY welds that have to do with the roll cage or bars. I used to be allowed in the pits at most Drag races in my area back in the 1980's, and was right there when they banned a guy form his racing class, because of ground down welds. He tried to negotiate to make a couple runs in another class that doesn't require roll bars, but his engine did not comply for the lower class as it was to powerful They gave hm credit for his fees to come back anytime though.

is that portion of the exhaust goin to be permanent if so might be difficult to run front shaft

Keep the exhaust heat away from your transmition.

Something to think about for the power cable to the starter. With it being next to the exhaust, better to crimp rather than solder. I'm sure you won't have any issues but if it were to get hot enough, the wire could come out of the terminal.

I'd love those wheels on my FJ.

Thank you for explaining the welding process, tacking versus full bead. I’ve been wondering this for a while and it makes sense now.

your a welder, so lets try this in a way that makes sense for you. If I took a piece of metal and ran a bead down the edge of it and the slammed a second piece of metal up to that. You may get lucky and get a still hot enough piece of weld to hold the 2 pieces of metal together, it will not be truly welded, or sucrue, but to a non-welders wife you might be able to convince them those 2 pieces of metal are welded together........ this is what you did by filling the connecter end with soilder and jamming the wire intoe it. It might fool someons wife but is is not really doing shit.

Surprised you didn't go with bead locks, but I do like those wheels. They remind me of old school Mickey Thompson Baja wheels or Alcoa big truck wheels. Loving the build, keep up the great work.

Hey Tom, good going, looking good. As a suggestion, you might want to think about putting a small heat shield to protect the starter from the down pipe. In years past starters had problems cranking if they got heat soaked from the exhaust. Just a thought.

Yep. Those rims look like Centerlines from back in the day. I'd see them on Camaros and other muscle cars but never a truck that I recall.
