Best part of Sunday morning. Peck Bros, MORR, and Tom Tom. It's like Saturday morning cartoons as a kid again. Cheers
Plus fab rats and robby !!!!
@@mattchewynichols5217 I couldn't handle the immaturity on Robby's channel anymore but fab rat's is one of the best.
It's the modern day Powerblock on SPIKE TV :)
@@mikekraan823 same here, dont evan watch him anymore
@@mattchewynichols5217I’ll drop in on Robby from time to time, him and his guys do good work! I couldn’t stand anymore of fabrats. The Always someone else’s fault thing and half ass-ing everything wore thin.
Tom, just ask Matt he can get that fuel gauge straightened out for you.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣ya right
That pegged oil pressure gauge would have me concerned!
That's hilarious!
NOOOOO don't let Matt touch the fuel gauge -- it will never work again ! LOL
😂😂😂 You have to go by his shop and ask him to help you with that now!!!
Watching Matt's, robbys, and your channel every Sunday morning motivates me to finish my 2 door tahoe project, then I get lazy because I sat too long watching videos.lol. keep up the hard work gents!
You didn't waste any time. You were watching "reference material" for your own project. Another 27 videos won't hurt no body. 😆
Hello Tom, from an old welder to a young welder---- I respectfully suggest purchasing a scarfing tip for your oxy-acetelene torch. you can remove axel brackets and such a lot faster and cleaner than with the grinder, with a little practice. Then teach Matt's boys.
@TomTom, Where did you get the flag pole for your truck, I want to get one for my wheelchair.
Lot of rivet nuts to hold on that lil panel. Tom Tom over engineering at its finest 😂. Great video!
Tom, consider welding your Jack Stands fast to the work table to prevent tipping over. Then, you can use motorcycle straps to loop over the axle tubes to keep them from popping off of the Jack Stands.
Tom, you're an engineer and a true fabricator combined...why don't you do a quick little project designing and building yourself a set of universal, quick-on/quick-off, adjustable height, safety chain or bracket equipped rearend housing cradles that go on your gazillion pound steel work/fabricating table? And while you're at it, why not make 'em quicker, easier, stronger, safer and better than Matt's set, just because? You know you would use them for your projects and for working on stuff for other people. ;)
Lately, I have been using up many things in my hoarding pile. Told my wife it feels a lot better than buying something that you don't need on sale. Which made me realize the cot I hoarded is comfortable.
My wife hates my future parts, until I fix something at 1030 pm with "stockpile parts" but she forgets pretty quick😅
LMAO 🤣😂
Sometimes the wives have good ideas! I'm single and I have a shop and garage and it's filling up fast! Yikes! 😅
😂🤣
😂😂
Great process to solid build. When we were concerned about cracking in the heat affected zone, we would also call for post heat in addition to preheat. In a weld shop, they might actually put the weldment in an oven, if no other parts were at risk. In our shop, post heat meant wrap the joint in heavy blankets and let it slow cool.
Tom. Don't lift with your back or you won't enjoy retirement
You got that right sir I was squinting when I seen him do that because I destroyed my back many years ago for many years doing that exact position
I didn’t miss any work but I was in a lot of pain for many years now I’m OK but I don’t lift like that no more when you’re young and dumb you’re in a hurry you do that after you tweak your back you learn real fast
Goat milk,goat taco's the Best of the best.healthy goodness.later brother Tom. C.o.j.c.o l d.s.god bless America!
Great channel, Awesome welds! Hey, have you thought of tacking the jack stands down so they don’t tip over. Keep up the great work!!
That’s a good idea!
Goat milk…..claw hammer, love it. You have to get your milk shake mixer back. I’m really enjoying your channel! Off to check on the spud truck.
Thanks, I do miss that drill press.
Thanks for sharing your adventure, Tom.
Thanks for sharing Tom, Angela.
Loving your new channel. Congratulations on your TH-cam success so far. Looking forward to more great videos and interesting content.
Wouldn't a TomTom sponsorship make more sense than OnXOffroad? 😂
I think Tom Tom is aging in reverse….you look younger my dude👊👍
He’s going to be 18 again soon!
@@BFT88 😂👍😂
I get you probably don't want to move the table because of weight but a pallet truck will hold like 5000lbs and is super handy to have in a shop if you don't have one
Or heavy jackable/leveling coasters are pretty cheap and easy to install.
Thats if moving the table easier / regularly is even desireable at all for you.
That dash panel would be perfect space for some etched art of Dig Dug doing Dig Dug things
Yes. It would be really cool if Tom put some cool looking, decorative, spruce-it-up things in the cab of Dig Dug just to make it look snazzy, classy, cool, custom and unique.
Hello TOM TOM the WIZARD of 4X4S Big greetings from New Zealand Wave that WAND and see what you get done today
I was shocked to learn how little a nuclear engineer makes. Your channel has boomed. Hope it's working out for you.
Rivnuts are one of the best inventions on the planet.
Untill you spin them 😂
@@dzzope theres way to avoid that happening
Definately not an impact driver point.
Rivenuts are great, so are blind nuts if you use them correctly.😢
Thank you. I couldn't remember what he's called them!
Tom, Tom, that dash board has more bolts in it than a Tokamak reactor......LOL!
I'm thinking Tom was having way too much fun milking that goat...😆
It's only junk in a pile until you need it. Than it was a smart move to hang on to it. Saving money.
No it's junk in a pile until you need it, then it's "in which pile is that junk I need!"
That blank panel in the cab needs a "TomTom's Shop" sticker! 😂
Definitely needs something
A pool table will fit
Tom you got infected by the morr fuel gauge virus 😢I hope you can get over it sometime! 😂
05:54 “Hoarding is like a 401k!” 😂😂💰💰 I’ve never thought about it like that!! Thanks TOM TOM!
There are deburring tools that will let you get to the backside from the front. The blade looks like a hook, and it spins on a handle. You drag it around the hole both ways.
In n out deburrs
I love your engineering approach which blends problem solving, appreciation of material qualities and technique. Not to mention having fun. There's nothing wrong with economizing as [generally attributed to Henry Ford] "An engineer can do for a nickel what any regular fool can do for a dollar." Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, for serial production, when you can smear out the engineers cost over 10.000 products.
Where's your Dog there Tom ?
It needs to be in every Video , just like at Matt's shop with Peanut and Lady !
On the subject of the fuel gauge, did you remember to ground the tank to the frame? It's a pretty simple circuit. It has a 90 ohm potentiometer as a fuel level sender and a gauge set up as reverse voltmeter. Grounding the wire going to the fuel lever sender (shorting it) makes the gauge read full, and open circuit makes it read empty. If the tank reads empty after you fill it, it means that there is no path to ground (or a reduced path to ground) in that circuit. In short, you should look at the tank ground and make sure that it is grounded to the frame.
That's a good tip!
I may be wrong, but, didn't Tom put in a LASER type tank sender?
The little dig at Matt and his claw hammer was great. Respect Tom for starting your own channel as the content is great. Do miss the talent you shared on Matt's episodes
Your channel is just AWESOME. The way you explain and show everything is great and very easy to understand. ALOHA
nice to see your page is growing pretty good. I have seen people take 3 - 4 years to get 1k followers. You should weld all the way around each welding bead to prevent drawing.
That panel looks good. Now you won't have any problem if you have to change out the flux capacitor on the trail.
We grew up drinking goat milk as rez Indians we didn't know why cow milk made us sick. It wasn't until lactose intolerance was real and we all are lactose intolerant. I can enjoy cow milk now with the lactose free milk now. We found out my mom who milked the goats was allergic to them.
it is so refreshing seeing people use their hands, head and proper tools to build the things they need for fun!
Tom that's one of the reasons why I didn't become a mechanic there's so much to take apart to get to the point where you can do what you want to do and then put it all back together plus it's filthy it degrees under the nails and gets into your DNA almost not a lot of fun not for me anyway I realize some people like it and that's good because we need those people but I'm just not 1 of them so I went into the carpentry😂😅
Unusual diet...PB sandwiches and Goat's milk!
Your videos get better each time. Nice welding!
You making a tow point Tom? 4-6 nuts would hold that panel😂
Tom Tom, you and my father would have got along great. He loved milk straight from a goat too. One of life's simple pleasures.
Tom, please, please, for the love of Pete, lose the background music.
Please, for the love of Pete, explain why
Tom your bed is awesome the wood bring it back to life with Lyn seed oil. Don't replace that bed please😢
Love your content. How much data does On X use while you are live with it?
From now on I'm referring to my hoarding as my junk-oh-one-kay.
love the content. Not all the way through the video yet. But cubic inches divided by 231 seems a simple equation to me
Good Morning Tom Tom! Enjoying the video, thank you.
Tom’s Tom’s welds are impressive to say the least
you said it, the guy is a wizard with everything he does.
That means literally nothing. Just because it looks good doesn't make it strong. He didn't even weld the tube's properly.
TomTom's Shop and Farm.
Some neighbors started a goat dairy when their son was determined to be allergic to cow's milk. I didn't mind the ice cold sample I was offered, but didn't much care for the aftertaste once it warmed even a little bit.
"That definitely was not coming off with some little claw hammer." Lol!
Truly enjoy your videos. Plus, I love goats milk!
Time to build a small portable crane to be able to slide into your welding table so that you can lift that heavy stuff without having to get help. Could also then move it to the back of Dig Dug if you need to get some heavy items in the bed. Might make a good project.
bench crane...there's an idea worth holding on to
There is a small truck-bed crane that would be great on the workbench or a hitch-mounted mini-crane that could do the trick as well
For welding cast iron, I’d suggest a stick welder and a high nickel rod.
at 29:50 If you want milk from that, you need at least 2, turning into 3, otherwise ... no milk
gas spraying on the wires with cheapie connectors.. what could go wrong? ...He says lets fire it up!
Hay Tom Tom were did you get your calapsible off road flag ? Also you need a p& j with that milk lol
Thank you for your time & video's 👍
Tent pole
Why don’t you build a little crane off the side of the table?
I don8 know if it's out yet, but I have heard of a tip for a plasma cutter for removing welds. Just something extra to look into. 😊
I saw an opportunity to fab a great storage bin/ 'glove box' vice closing it off with a panel 🤔🤷🏻♂️
I’m very excited to see the new Dig Doug!!
I can't believe you don't have a fixture for working on axles. It wouldn't be hard to fab one up from a little scrap. I'd hate to see one of those fall on you.
The best farm animal is one your neighbor has! 😁
Tom Tom as you do things multiple times you’ll figure out a better way to do things quicker and easier just takes time you’re a good hard worker and a good man Tom Tom got a great family to👍✊🇺🇸
Keep the faith and stay safe there’s a lot of bad people out there these days
Pay attention to how you pick things up when they’re heavy because can’t make no money when your backs stretched😳
You’re doing great Tom. Thanks for the video. One question, when you switched to the larger welding wire did you have to change the liner in the hose the wire passes through to the torch? Thanks again.
No, mine is big enough for .045 wire.
When I was in the Navy in the 70s we had goat milk in our shop for zinc poisoning fixed you right up. I was a welder good luck with your build.
I grew up milking moms 23 goats, making butter, cheese, and drinking a gallon of milk a day .we got over 30 gallons of milk a day.
You're just a farmer at heart.😊

Great camera work, editing, pacing and music selection.
My bench is around 1000 lbs. I engineered some heavy casters that I can raise and lower with a threaded rod and a nut. So I can move the table and lower it. Truly nice to have a movable table but also lower it onto feet when I don’t need to move it.
Gees Tom I thought you were going to smash your toes like five times! Tack those jack stands to your bench!😂
Perfect ,,, releases from MORR, Peck Brothers and Tom Tom perfect.... just need a dose of Rudy RAD
Engineers and rocket scientists do not think alike!!!!! Tom Tom shows us this!!! Cause the FABRICTOR HAS TO MAKE SENSE AND FENG SUI OF THEIR DESIGN......SO TOM TOM has be all three!
Right on man. Hang in there and keep on keepin on.
I don't know if you have a stick welder but a air arc works extremely well removing spring perches and shock mounts
i come from an hvac background and i have noticed that people in auto work or auto fab light the acetylene torch far differently than hvac techs do, is there a reason for that? the flames and temps are super different
different mix of acetylene and oxygen. could be one mix is used for heating and one for cutting. i think for heating you turn the oxygen down from the cutting mixture
I'm gonna sound mean, but I'm not meaning to, Tom; but you're kind of a one trick pony. You really got into those riv-nuts and got Matt all into them and that seems to be your go to. NOTHING'S WRONG WITH THAT AT ALL because it actually works for the problems you use them for. But it's kind of funny to hear you go at a problem like the dad from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" with Windex.
"This entire truck's split in two."
Tom-Tom sliding in from stage left, "Just slap some riv-nuts in there and it'll be just fine."
"The entire fuel tank has ruptured."
Tom-Tom from inside the fuel tank, "Use riv-nuts and it'll fix it right up!"
Doctor, "I'm sorry. I don't think your leg can be saved. We'll need to amputate it."
Tom-Tom comin' in through the vents, "Or, and just hear me out, or you could riv-nut the leg back on and there won't be any problems."
May seem silly, but you look SO HAPPY in that last shot, while milking the goat! 🙂
Tom, really enjoy the way you work and present to us. Kinda reminds me of the way TH-camr Mustie1 works with us. Darren aka “Mustie1 has been delivering EXCELLENT content for years, he really goes the extra mile to engage his audience. You may want to check out his channel.
Couple of thoughts 🧐. As some have stated the jack stands need to be steadied to avoid drifting out from under those heavy axels. Consider welding plates to the bottom of the jack stands and bolt them down to that “super work bench”. Different hole patterns drilled to match the widths of your project.
Anyways, thanks for sharing 👍
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO EVERYONE 🇺🇸
Great video! There’s nothing better then an ol’ square body! #TEAMDIGDUG.
Use a pallet jack to move the table. Setting up heavy items in the shop so they can be moved with a pallet jack allows them to sit solid on the floor with no wheels but still be mobile.
Yes, I know a few guys who use a pallet jack in that simple, useful, common sense way in their shops, I might be one of 'em. Sometimes things need to be moved, and sometimes those things are heavy and/or large. Pallet jacks are great for that, and just a little bit of design engineering makes it easy to lift up and move machines, benches, tables, truck beds, frames, scrap bins, all kinds of things. ;)
If you are just needing the torch to heat things up, you might want to consider switching from oxy-acetylene to oxy-propane... It's quite a bit cheaper and in a pinch, you can use the BBQ 20-lb tanks for a fuel supply... Oxy-propane is also good for cutting if you have the right tips... You don't have as fine of a flame, so oxy-propane *welding* is not as precise... But then again, how many people still do oxy-fuel *welding* ? They do oxy-fuel *brazing*, but not *welding* ...
Great video TomTom! I can't wait to see this whole build! I love your attention to detail where it's needed, that's a big one for me. I'm not building SEMA vehicles, but it's nice to see the finished product that you can be proud of. Keep up the great work!
Also, random question. Is DigDug a 2500 truck?
Always a good time watching you work! Good quality craftsmanship with great explanations. I liked it all, well, except for drinking room temp goat milk. I prefer mine at refrigerator temp.!! LOL!!
Why didn't you buy the right kit that would just bolt to the axel. I have a 92 Dodge W350 and converted the rear axel to disc brakes. No welding just bolt together. Lots of money but so much easier than doing all guess work and no sanding of the pads. they worked great once I found the right master CYL. Have A Great Day
Well Done, Mr. Tom. Happy to see your channel doing well.
Dig-Dug's rear end looks to be really stout. It'll be a bad to the bone crawler
on the 4-links. I think the POR15 comes in clear.......... so You can keep the patina look.
I do like the wood treatment they used for Ed's Golden Nugget Trailer....... if you decide
to put wood back in it. 3 hours and 10K plus views
To find gallons measure in inches length times width times height then divide by 231= Gallons, same LxHXW in centimeters divided by 1000= Liters.
Tom, I am always impressed by your welding skills. Please do a video of the best tips and tricks to make the average person a better welder.
Tom you’re a great dude, but you over-explain things in your videos. Your audience is smart. Explain one time and only what’s necessary and interesting. Allow people to see what happens for themselves. “I’m going to go ahead and start bolting this in”, followed by you bolting it in, something everyone already understands-isn’t necessary. Pace up the cuts, filter down your exposition and you will have videos that are easier to watch and more successful.
Know that figuring things out is one of the most rewarding and interesting aspects of viewership even if most don’t realize that’s what makes it interesting. 🤙🏼
I really don’t think 40 1/4 bolts are enough to hold that dash panel on. Arnt you like a ex rocket builder?
Never ever decrease life of brake pads just because they don’t fit. Spend the extra $$$ n buy proper shit wtf tomtom?! 🤦🏽♂️
I am making everything in my shop movable with a pallet jacket, that table would be ZERO issue moving wiht a pallet jack, you could have moved the axle to your 2 post with the pallet jack, used that to lift, then pallet jack the table under it, 1 man job, no hurting your back
It was bugging me, Tom Tom reminded me of someone, then I saw a bit from Avengers. He and Agent Coulson could be clones....They talk the same, act the same, have many of the same skills... Just sayin'.
27:25. Clamp the pads with the caliper using compressed air.
Then square up the mount to the axle . So u can get full travel outa the piston in the caliper.
I seen caliper mounts welded on waayyyyy offset and one pad is. DONE dead quick.
Mercy that music sure sucks.
Tom, A better & safer set up is to notch 2 foot long 6x6's stacked up and screwed together to whatever height you need.. Then they won't fall over like jackstands do, or axles fall off like it did on the jackstands. All that weight on a small area extended up higher is very dangerous, as you could have been seriously hurt had that axle hit you!! We don't want to see that happen!!
Tom leave the milk drinking for off video . 📹 great job 👏 FROM NORTH CAROLINA Matt
I'm surprised you didn't go with the 14 bolt axle. It's still the strongest one on the market. But what you're doing makes perfect sense to make it a great offload truck. The role cage is awesome. Have a great 4th of July Tom Tom and family.
Fabricate some stands for those diffs, Mr. Fabricator Man! :-)
You’re going to hurt yourself!
