“A Clinchfield Christmas” | Railfans Gather For CSX’s Santa Train
On November 23, 2024, CSX hosted the 2024 Santa Train event in Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee. The event is held in lower income communities for families to celebrate Christmas and the spirit of giving. We followed the train from Haysi, VA to Clinchport, VA with many spots in between. This year’s train was extra special with the addition of CSX’s Clinchfield heritage locomotive, attracting hundreds of photographers from around the United States. Engineer Scott Steffey, on his last run before a happy retirement, was at the helm of the train on this day. This made for an even more special day for him and everyone involved.
This year, I focused on the railfan community and their views on the event. In this video, we interviewed multiple railfans from different states to see what their views are on the train. We thank everyone for their time and help with this video, respect along the high iron, and everything in between. Thank you for making this a memory that none of us will ever forget!

I put the phone into “vlog mode” while walking around doing live commentary… something i’m not used to for sure! Keep in mind, this is not the normal style of video that we do here at Blue Ridge Rails. In this video. Today we headed up to the Spruce Pine area to check out progress being made on CSX’s Blue Ridge Subdivision. While in the area we also took a load of supplies to Nick Whitson at O....

“Loading A Norfolk Southern Coal Train” Today, we’ll take an in-depth look at how coal trains are loaded in the Appalachian Mountains. We will follow the train down a “branch line” and then over to the coal loadout, where we will take the seat of the operator and load some coal. We also get to have a bird’s-eye view of the whole operation including the loading process. Our train is also sportin...
Western North Carolina Flood Damage | Hurricane Helene

#wncstrong🫶 Last week, Western North Carolina experienced one of the worst floods in the history of the area. We ventured as far west as we could to continue documenting the impacts of Hurricane Helene from the air, and made it to the small towns of Spruce Pine, Green Mountain, Huntdale, Marshall, and Woodfin, before turning back east. We continue to pray for the families of WNC and especially ...

Hickory, NC Area Flooding | Hurricane Helene

Copyright: Blue Ridge Rails 2024 Earlier today, Western North Carolina was hammered with (at landfall) a category 4 tropical hurricane. Around 9:00 this morning, I set out around the Hickory area to document the impacts of this historical weather event. I tried to capture as many different places and events as possible, especially things related to high waters and flooding. Main places that we ...

Im there now reloading. (Trucker) Devastating damage. 😥😥😥
I watch them switching quite a bit while waiting to get unloaded at Associated
Very nice video, LIKE .
Fantastic RS3L
First time watcher, great job explaining and details for the basic railfan. Thanks for your work.
@@daveinvictoriavirginia7959 thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed.
A great looking video. Crisp images. Steady shots. Locators. Very nice.
Cool video, thanks
I was born in va but moved to mt when very young and wish I could see these trains in real life
Continue prayers for all of the victims of Hurricane Helene in the Blue Ridge area. Helene did a lot damage here in Florida but it’s nothing compared to what Tennessee and North Carolina suffered. 🙏🙏🙏
Excellent 😊
Love trains
I cry and pray everyday for everyone there! I was born in Red Hill and moving back In spring 2025
Miss this so much!
The marker lights look awesome on this ex-CR SD60 widecab. Sweet RS3L horn. Great video.
Car vs 7000 Series train
First off... great vids!! I just stumbled upon your channel today and like your work. "The driver backed up and then decided to go to sleep" I just retired a week ago after 34 years of Over The Road driving and I just have to say NONE OF THIS SURPRISES ME!!! As a motorist on the American highways, you should be VERY AFRAID anytime you are near an American truck driver. The level of professionalism, skill, ability and more importantly COMMON SENSE is GONE in the industry. I have spent the last 10+ years not sleeping soundly because I have to be constantly aware and worried about one of these idiots backing into me at a truckstop, taking out the front of my truck and then fleeing like a thief in the night. I spend every waking hour discouraging anyone that mentions the industry from becoming a driver. The truly sad part is... THIS MORON will continue to drive and continue to make poor decisions.
@@MrBNARick i’m glad you enjoy the content!
Moved to tears! Beautiful song.
So basically I would classify the blue ridge sub OOS for while
So frustrating that such a huge operation can not be upgraded and remain open. Talk about a strategic location in the US!

Thank you for recording/posting this. Im sorry it took me so long to find it! I've operated on this line since 1996. Still working the Asheville District of NS. Our mountain is in shambles due to Helene. Not sure yet what the future holds.
Great video dude! You should make a video of the still operating HG Line in Gastonia!
A shame their contractors are botching the job so horribly. Sat and watched them hauling off a buddies property today here in Unaka Springs. Their haste is going to cost the taxpayers hundreds of millions, while simultaneously building an unsafe railbed for the engineers who have to run that line. Federal lawsuits, fines and more on the way.
Very interesting 🤔 Thanks 👍
Fantastic video: thanks

Beautiful song❤ Thank you for sharing this video!
Why isn't the State of North Carolina helping these poor people out ??
Because our governor doesn’t care about the people 😡
@beverlycoble5821 I am from Buffalo,NY. We have had a few natural disasters, tornadoes, flooding and snow and I know our state always has our backs. The Buffalo area has even sent help. It's terrible that North Carolinas government has not done much to help these people that have lost everything.
Do you have any g12 parts? Specifically a truck for an engine. My father picked up a couple g12 engines and he's short one truck. Also always in the lookout for more track, cars, and locomotives

Mr Peabody’s Coal Train…
I have heard of coal dust being a risk where coal is stored at power plants. is there a similar risk at these loading operations? maybe it is turned over too frequently to have the same risk?
Thanks for this. 👍😁
