RARE Trains On The Asheville District

Long Trains on the Old Fort Loops!
Today we will be taking a look at some recent events taking place on the less-used Asheville District. With the Asheville District only seeing one 10 cars local a day, these very long extra manifest and storage trains were definitely a nice treat to see in 2024.
We will first look at a M36(111) winding down the loops, another M36 in downtown Hickory, and finally a storage train heading west with NS’s yellow bonnet 1800 leading the way. We hope everyone enjoys the video!

I remember a few years ago when the washout took place on the loops. I tend to think that is one reason why through traffic has been diverted. 136 comes from Knoxville to Asheville and 135 goes Asheville to Knoxville(both trains run 3 times a week now).

how manny trains on ns does ashville get is that the same line that turns in to the rat hole

They only get two toad trains to Asheville, east of Asheville only locals run. This is not the same as the rat hole, that line sees far more trains.
