@@blueridgerailsBTW Thomas Pittman that you interviewed mentioned a guy named Tanner. I have been a friend of Tanner for a short time. He interviewed me late last year about my involvement with Roadway Signs at NS.
Very nice video, I have been watching so many videos about this area before and after the flooding. It is so sad to see all the destruction and so many people's lives uprooted. Thank you for helping out and hope we are all able to do a little something to help. I remember when I was younger there was a model train mag that had a small railroad you could model, it was the Yancey RR, I have followed that on google map the best I could and would love to have seen it operating back in the day. Best to all in that area and stay well and thanks again.
Great Video Nathan! Just finished watching here in the Great State of Texas! The interviews and your camcorder work is Awesome! I enjoy watching your videos and look forward to more of your future presentations!
Great film from start to finish. Very entertaining and informative. Editing and production was top notch. Thanks for your work in making a great film. New subscriber!!!
I remember pushing that train up the gorge @ 20:21. I was on a D571 job as conductor and we had to go to Green Mountain with a single engine to go get some cars and a Bad Order of the main there at Green Mountain. CSXT/CRR 8128 is currently still floating around on the clinchfield in local and Yard service atm.
Thank you for allowing me to ve a part of your film! Your talent and attention to detail is very impressive and i am definitely looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future.
So sad! I still can't believe what happened to the Clinchfield in 2015. I remember getting ELFX, OUCX, GALX, SCWX and more coal trains daily off of the Clinchfield to us in Spartanburg. Now coal trains are almost nonexistent in Spartanburg.
I wish Amtrak would establish a train using the Clinchfield from Cincinnati or Columbus to Sprtanburg since the line runs right into the Spartanburg station. It would provide service to undeserved areas
My Dad told me of seeing Clinchfield's steam sitting there in Erwin waiting to be scrapped in the early 60s, including their Challenger articulated locomotives
Now is the time to turn this into a tourist railroad to rival the Great Smoky Mountains Railway. The regular trains are so infrequent it has to be a possibility, right? Erwin to Bostic or somewhere south of the Loops.
Maybe they should have a private luxury train running from Chicago to Miami and back via the Clinchfield from Elkhorn City to Spartanburg similar to Rocky Mountaineer.
Awesome video! Any idea if the traffic that used to cross this line will be routed over the James River subdivision or the north mountain subdivision while everyone in this area rebuilds?
A shame their contractors are botching the job so horribly. Sat and watched them hauling off a buddies property today here in Unaka Springs. Their haste is going to cost the taxpayers hundreds of millions, while simultaneously building an unsafe railbed for the engineers who have to run that line. Federal lawsuits, fines and more on the way.
