5 LEGO sets I REGRET not buying

One of the down sides to how LEGO operates is that once a set retires, LEGO never brings it back meaning that if you missed out on a set you have to pay a premium and buy it on the secondary market. Chris, I really like your friend, your cat. Is there a chance you could give us a bit more info, name, breed, where you met, etc? I support you because you seem like such a kind person who loves Lego and having fun, so I hope you keep it up! ❤️🌟
Thanks! I have an upcoming video that will feature the cat a lot more and give more info. Stay tuned for it. Thank you for taking time to watch my videos ❤️

im learning python right now at 32 years old im a plasterer by trade but want to get out of construction , it hurts my head on the route i should take . is python a sought after skill , i need some guidance any information is appreciated . like will i have to do an IT help desk job first etc
Yeah python is probably one of the best languages to learn at the moment because of it’s had in machine learning / AI. You shouldn’t need to get a help desk job, just apply for junior engineer positions. Hope that helps
@@pattle ok and what would you assume a junior role could make me a year?? im going to have to take a big hit as i earn around 40/50 on a good year atm but im suffering with injuries which is why i need to get out of construction
Just started watching, I hope the Mustang isn't in here.
I just come to listen Lego videos. Makes me calm I don’t even buy Legos often I just like to listen people talk about them. God bless you brother!
Glad you like it! I don't think many people find me calming haha. God bless
How about this I’m not sure if I should build it or save it. The Fell Beast 40693 some advice would be nice
My advice is always build it if you like it. If not I think it will be a good investment. Anything that is LOTR seems to do well
Thank you
I honestly don't know how to form an informed opinion on the price increases. I know of a German TH-cam channel parting out a lot Speed Champions Aston Martins. Though I remember a discussion that these sets substantially increase in value. With that increase, parting out SC sets seems strange. The reasoning is that the monetary amount is just too low for most investors. That's where the Colosseum comes in IMO: It's a large set and suddenly the supply dried up. Plus your mates surely will laugh at you if you're investing in say...hundreds of Lego polybags. I've done no research other than watching a few random videos, I have to admit. The YT algorithm is good at supplying a stream of videos. Anyway. I concluded that a first issue of a set usually sees a limited production run (which makes sense as Lego retailers might not stock it on mass), but nobody knows the supply side, because Lego doesn't tell us. My personal opinion is to never venture into the parts business, but a Lego enthusiast might be better off stocking parts as well as sets for sale. Sorry if I come across incoherent.
Why invest in those sets today? You should have invested in those last year? Also the video would be better if you keep the set name in each section.
I think a mistake people make is that they are put off by sets that have already gone up in value and instead try and find the next big winner. The problem with that is that it's difficult to predict what sets will become valuable, and I think this becomes harder each year as more and more people get into LEGO investing and start stockpiling. Before you could just invest in a UCS set knowing it will rise in value, but that's unlikely to be a good strategy now because everyone has cottoned onto that. Star Wars as a whole has become a lot less profitable year on year. As this video says, it's better to go on evidence you already have that tells you this a set is desirable and performing well on the secondary market. I agree that buying a few copies of the Colosseum would be one of the best strategies right now. I'd be interested to see a video that shows how LEGO set profitability has changed over time.
I think he mis titled the video.
My friend you look like: Monaco - what do you want from me 😊
Rivendale and the UCS Millennium Falcon are on my list.
Did you buy baradur? I wish I had some of the pirates of the Caribbean sets, silent Mary and black pearl especially. Picked up my first bricklink set this series 2, but I wish I had the modular construction site. Also, I’d love to see Wallace and gromit as a Lego theme!
I haven’t bought barad dur yet. Actually I don’t even have Rivendell yet but hoping to pick them both up this year
100% agree with Simpsons! We definitely need more Simpson sets because as you said it’s just known show all over the world it’s iconic! And only 2 sets were released which is criminal we should get more. You seem very down to earth awesome videos my guy! God bless. You earned a new subscriber!
Yeah it’s a no brainer really, plus loads of characters they can do minifigures for. Thanks for the kind words. Really appreciate it 🙏
Yes Lego is a toy. It’s meant to be played with. If you want free money, then just swing trade on the stock market. There’s tons of free money to be taken there. I use it to buy legos and build what I want.
I always have a bit of a giggle at this whole lego investment trend. There are so many doing it now and buying up so many sets to sit on and resell. It seems like a market that is going to eventually burst. Sure, some of the older kits that were pretty much always purchased to play with, would now be quite rare, especially in mint condition, but when you hear of investors sitting on 200-300 of a kit and there are significant numbers doing the same.... Well, there are going to be plenty of mint kits out there for a long long time. I buy to build. You know, the entire point of the stuff in the first place. There was a discontinued Architecture set I wanted. Prices in the hundreds but equally hundreds for sale. Picked up a perfectly adequate alternate brand version for under $20 and it is great.
Wallace and Gromit would be great.
Interesting. Agree about Tintin but I think the following is too small, hence no more films. I'd quite like ancient civilizations, Egyptian, Roman, Aztec, Viking. Wallace and Gromit would be great.
The craze is over, though there are more and more advisors who tell you which sets are "safe" investments. What is more disturbing, the quality of Lego has gone down dramatically while the prices have gone up exponentially.
Man United’s Old Trafford was the first stadium set
I would love to see an new Avatar the last airbender lego theme.
for me - the imperial flagship. had in the shopping cart on lego store, had the money but didn't have any where to display it at the time so didn't click the button!! regretted ever since.
I have an idea 💡. Could you kit-bash sets that are not selling to have something that no one else has in the marketplace?
You mean create my own sets an instructions? That is a good idea. Obviously it would require quite a bit of work and I’m looking for more passive investments but it could be quite lucrative
@@pattle Lego used to have alternate builds on the back of every set. Re brickable does this where they have alternate builds for sets. Build it and sell the model without instructions. If you’re just sitting on sets that aren’t selling what’s the harm in trying something new? You’ve already spent the money. How many people have set … You would be the only one selling set … modified.
If they do a Krusty Burger set it better have a clear brick on the wall where Bart rubbed the wrapper.
haha, I hadn’t thought of that. Yeah that’s gotta be included
The speed champions iveco Ferrari truck from 2015 for me
very cool, Unitron was the one of few space faction from the 90's i didnt get any sets from, was always envious of people that had this monorail though, it is gorgeous
Some good thoughts here. I particularly like the 'Adult City Sets' idea and the better train systems are good ideas. Definitely a market for those, so Lego should definitely pay attention and consider I think.
The modular’s must be massive money makers for Lego so i’m hoping that sub theme will transition to include some adult city sets
I think it can still be profitable, but requres more patience and longer hold times. The number of investors (and number of sets made by Lego) surged during the pandemic, as so many people had spare cash. That has flooded the resale market, which is why highly recommended 2023 investments like Medieval Blacksmith, Brickheadz Endor Heroes and the Star Wars Fighter Tank are still available at less than retail price on ebay 5 months after retirement. It's still a worthwhile side hustle, but I think the days of 100 to 200% ROI within 1-2 years is becoming rarer. I also started investing 4 years ago, and have now decided to hold almost all sets long term, and only sell gifts with purchase or sets that have grown in value and then flatlined. Just need a bigger house now for storage...
Lots of characters and locations from the game Okami could translate really well to LEGO.
More Lord of the Rings, Aviation series like the Concorde set and one off sets from iconic films like the home alone house, so many possibilities.
Interesting talk, thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions!
Just rob a bank and then buy these on the second hand market. Easy and definitely worth that felony charge
I don't regret not buying sets but the sets that I do regret buying are USC X-Wing Red and USC Slave 1 from 10 years ago as well as LOTR Tower Of Orthanc and the original Tumbler 76023.
Yellow Submarine, Big Bang Theory (wasn't into the show then), Dr Who
Queen Anne's Revenge from Pirates of the Carribean. Over $750 on bricklink :(
yeah I’d take the QAR over the Black Pearl any day
nin jay go? bro doesn’t even know the name of the line that gives him the most money
Ninjago City is still available from the shops
I think you mean the Ninjago City Gardens? I’m talking about the original Ninjago City set
@@pattle Set 70620 right? Yup still selling at some shops in Asia - at retail price.
Brick Bank is one of regrets too!
This will age me here. But for me the regrets include not saving my allowance for a couple months and getting the futuron monorail. Biggest mistake of my life however was giving my entire childhood Lego collection away in 1995 after starting culinary school. I've made many mistakes, worse mistakes too, but this is one I think of every week or so. Truth is inflation would make one of these over $400 these days and you can find old ones near that price, but ( whiny face) it's not the same! It's like eating grocery store brand ice cream while the ice cream man circles your block! Dingle dingle ding!
If it’s any consolation I think a lot of people have probably made the mistake of giving away their childhood Lego. I had the Monorail Transport Base when I was younger. I made a video recently about putting it back together
I regret not buying the LEGO City Airport 3182
The set I regret not buying is the 2019 Droid gunship. I just dismissed it but now it costs so much money.
Glad you've found the right way. Lego, wine, books, these are things to be bought, opened, used and enjoyed. Invest in boring things with predictable, reliable growth. For fun stuff, don't invest: enjoy!
I got my regret, but expensive, 21310 (in your background)
I forgot to mention the Simpsons House and the Quick E mart from the same theme. I want those sets so bad but now they're super expensive on ebay.
I also regret not getting the Ninjago City set. I was at the Lego store at the mall one day and wanted to get it but I felt too embarrassed walking out with that huge box. I purchased the Ninjago City Gardens set a few years later but it's just not as cool. I also regret not getting the Robie House Architecture set and the train from the Monster Fighters theme.
Coruscant Police Gunship and AV-7 Cannon. 2 Clone Wars sets that won’t be remade with the same figs that have skyrocketed in value because of the exclusive clones in them
Yea the Old Lord of the Rings sets are mine but like you I was not yet into collecting Lego. I had a gap where I was playing with Lego as a child and now an adult buying for display. LotR was part of the gap. Luckily they're making new sets because of the Rings of Power, and they are beautiful displays.
Wish I had bought an extra set of Barracuda Bay!
Whine, whine. The Lego store isn't even available in my country, so every set I buy is premium-priced, plus the shipment fees add another 100%. And then there's also the 24,5% import tax on top of that. So yeah, you have it soooo bad. 🙄
Lego Minecraft mountain cave for me. Bought it for $200 new when it was being phased out. I bought it to keep and build but felt bad for spending money and sold it for $500 a year later.
I buy lego to build and display. I buy transformers to play with.
