If You buy a lego set for Yourself to build the only solution can be to open the box in front of the store clerk after paying to check if all minifigures are in.
At Walmart in the US, they have locked up the LEGO, and you have to ask for a clerk to open them up because people would just open the boxes in the store and steal the pieces out
Wow, I know this a big problem with the CMF's now they're in cardboard boxes but are people also doing it with sets?
Not all walmarts, just the ghetto ones

But that doesn’t stop people taking sets home, then removing the parts and returning them. It’s crazy to think all this security problems over children toys.

A possible solution would be for retailers to refuse refunds on LEGO sets.
That would work but in the UK at least, we have laws that say you have the right to return any item

Well, I also figure that some people may open the box, take the minifigures, and simply play victim by going back to the store claiming that the figures are missing asking for a refund or replacement. No arts and crafts involved.

Tell me how do you "just reseal the plastic bags"? It would be so obvious... guess it could work, but still. I get all my LEGO straight from LEGO-no risk there, if it's wrong they fix it
If the Lego group wishes to pay a professional to fix this issue, I want cash up front. 😂😅😂😅
They put out models that make a fan cringe. But people still keep buying them, accepting mediocre quality, so Lego has no need to up their standards. Shame.
Generally speaking I do think the set designs are getting better and better, but the quality has definitely dropped.
So this is how Amazon has so many sellers offering their "spare" minifigures for sale at twenty quid a pop.
I've been doing this with boxes of maltesers since the cost of living rise.
