- In this video I talk about the top 5 LEGO white whales (sets I wish I owned). Imagine being visited by a genie who grants you with any 5 LEGO sets from their entire back catalogue. These are the ones I'd pick
00:00 Intro
00:50 5: Mach II Red Bird Rig
02:01 4: Fairground Mixer
03:41 3: The Tower of Orthanc
04:53 2: Imperial Flagship
05:56 1: Maersk Container Train
07:45 Outro - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
I agree about a Lego train theme. If Speed Champions can sell well, why not trains? Not necessarily just the epic detailed locomotives either, you could also have simpler sets like a station platform, a level crossing, a shunting yard and turntable, or a viaduct bridge, and then combine them together into a fully featured diorama.
Yeah it really does seem like a no brainer. The only reason I can think is licensing, maybe Horny or one of the other model railway companies have a bit of a stranglehold. That said though LEGO could always just come up with their own versions
That Imperial Flagship is also my white whale - it looks incredible.
Mine are Wall-E, The Ghostbusters HQ, The Simpson's House and The SHIELD Helicarrier. When I started getting into LEGO collecting it never dawned on me that sets would retire and would no longer be available to buy. Yeah, we don't make that mistake anymore since FOMO is all too real. Now I've got a personal LEGO store in my house with more sets than I have room to possibly display them. 😅
I have the first 3 you listed, they were my white whales and I got very lucky and got all 3 the same day for a very good price at a local shop. I do need the Simpsons sticker sheet and a few missing pieces. Keep your eyes open and you'll get them some day.
Brandon Lee was an illuminati sacrifice.
he is in one of the ol bloodlines ..
I was familiar with the satanic elites growing up.
your profile picture brings me deep sorrow..

I remember pouring hours into the 2015 holiday catalog. I loved looking at those sets. I actually own a few of them now! Great video!
I really just loved the artwork and the backdrops in the older catalogues, definitely inspired me to build. Sadly you don’t really see that in the more recent catalogues. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, it seems that the more recent catalogs just have the sets and only the sets. Rather than the art that went with them. I found your channel pretty recently and I really enjoy it! Keep it up!
interesting selection, Maersk train looks great, im really looking forward your video about it once you get it :)
I have the Imperial Flagship happily sitting in an acrylic box which is just majestic! Bring a smile to me everyday when I walk pass. Cool list btw
ah you’re so lucky! Displaying it in an acrylic box is the only way to go 👍 it must look so cool. Thanks for watching 🙂
Yes, Tower of Orthanc is top of my white whale list as well, but like you, I hope out hope that we will get a remake soon if the LotR sets that are out now do well.
great video, i hope your channel blows up with views mate!
Thanks mate, me too haha
Nice list! 3 of them I never heard of
Another fantastic content 😀👌🏻
Thank you 🙏
I recently got the Fairground Mixer. Can’t wait to do a video on it. I agree with. It’s a very nice set. Especially how you can pack the mixer away and place it on the trailer. So cool!
Nice! I’ll keep an eye out for the video
@@pattle much appreciated! I’m a new subscriber to your channel. Love your content. Keep it up! 👏🏼
Great videos brother!!
Thanks for the kind words, appreciate it
Great video!
The fairground mixer was one of the sets that drew me back into Lego. I consider it a near perfect design from Jamie Berard. The engineering behind it to have a full-function mixer with all the other colorful attractions and have that fit into the two trucks is genius level to 11.
5:08 part it together. you’ll save a lot of money doing this. The only part you will have a hard time finding are the six column pieces for the masts they sell for $50 each on brick Link maybe maybe more now. So what I did was, I built mine imperial flagship completely true to the original build with one exception. I used a 2 x 2 reddish brown brick and drilled a hole through it, and also used 11 2 x 2 round bricks to make up for the missing mast pieces. In my honest opinion, they turned out to be much stronger than the original pieces.
I think this is the route I will take, gradually accumulate the parts I need. Thanks for sharing your experience. This is really valuable advice, I appreciate it!
You broke the Lego law!!!!
@@dangleberries992 Well the people over at the Lego Store in Mission Viejo didn’t seem to have a problem with it. I’ve had several models of mine on display there.
I like your idea of a train theme that's more coordinated to encourage year over year expansion. Lego will probably never make the train fanatics happy, but they have tried to toss a nice train in here and there.
I had that truck with the jet and i loved it!
ahhh I’m so envious. Hope you still have it
I love that Mach II Red Bird Rig. It's been burned in my memory. Would love an updated version that's similar in scale to the big vehicles for adults. They could call it the Mach III. (Unless Ford or Gillette complain, lol)
You have excellent taste. I have excellent luck and have the mixer, Orthanck, Imperial Flagship and Maersk, all still sealed in their boxes, including a duplicate mixer. I don't have your #5. For me the must-haves are the early modulars. I have every modular built and also every modular in a sealed box, except I only have the built version of Market Street (no new one in box). Of all these great sets, the one that was most problematic for me was the Fire Brigade set, because the 1x1 burgundy tiles become brittle with age and all had to be replaced. I agree with you about trains. In the day Lego had a much wider variety of tracks. It's been decades since they took it seriously and yet it is the heart of any Lego city.
oh wow you pretty much have all of my dream sets! I need to find out where you live haha.
i’d definitely love the town hall and brick bank modulars. Thanks for watching ❤️
Fantastic list, some really personal choices. If i had to pick a white whale of my own, it would have to be the UCS Imperial shuttle. I love the ships that have 3 wings like the bad batch marauder and palpatines shuttle
The imperial shuttle is definitely up there with the best UCS sets. I know what you mean about the 3 wings, they do look cool!
@@pattle I was gonna hit you with the manufacturer "Cygnus"
Solid list. Although it's not the best set, Fort Legorado would definitely be in my top 5
Imperial flagship, medieval market, At-ot and drop ship, A-7 Republic Cannon, and Republic Frigate. Got to build the Imperial Flagship last week which was a dream since I'll probably never own it
That’s a solid list. I am tempted to accumulate the parts I need for the imperial flagship over time, but nothing beats the sealed box experience
LOTR Barad Dur tower is releasing in June. I have Rivendell so the tower would look great near it.
Yeah can’t wait to see what it looks like
I agree that the Model Team sets were very cool and aged well. My favourite is 5590 - Whirl N' Wheel Super Truck. Boy, do I wish I had bought one. The set still looks fantastic; a recent set like 31146 looks nice too, but is far less impressive than 5590; although it certainlyh is more affordable. Both 5590 and 5591 have a crazy price tag on the aftermarket.
I’m an AFOL who passed the age of 50, so technically this is not a set that I could dream of if I had access to all of them, but it is a set I actually saw in the shop back then and regrettably didn’t buy.
A set I’m even more regretful about not buying is 7760 - Electric Diesel Locomotive (Diesel Shunter Locomotive). At the time, I chose to buy set 7730, which is a nice set too as it contains tracks and everything. Back then, I already saw the beauty of 7760 but just didn’t have the money to buy it on top of the other set as I didn’t have rich parents or a well-paid job.
7760 is very expensive on the aftermarket and costs about ten times as much as 7730. The shunter has two Windows 1 x 3 x 2 with Fixed Glass in the colour blue and is the only set that contains this classic window in that particular colour. The window is for sale on Bricklink for 30 Euro’s a piece. So theoretically it is possible to buy the parts and assemble the locomotive in original condition.
5590 is also a great set, very similar to the red bird rig, just with a helicopter rather than a plane. I wish LEGO brought back Model Team. I guess the modern day equivalent are the larger scale icons cars. If they did a remake of the Red Bird Rig but with a bit more detail then I’d be camping outside the LEGO store to get it.
Sorry about 7760. I hope you get it one day
I'm doubtful that we'll see Orthanc re-do, given that they are rumored to deliver a similar black tower, Barad Dur, later this year. Then again, will you need Orthan if you have that?
Did you buy baradur? I wish I had some of the pirates of the Caribbean sets, silent Mary and black pearl especially. Picked up my first bricklink set this series 2, but I wish I had the modular construction site. Also, I’d love to see Wallace and gromit as a Lego theme!
I haven’t bought barad dur yet. Actually I don’t even have Rivendell yet but hoping to pick them both up this year
Have seen model team sets sealed in box. They are sick
The Imperial Flagship is what got me back into LEGO all those years ago. My advice to whoever wants it, like others have mentioned; piece it together yourselves. Not just because of the price, but because those brown bricks become really brittle and it'll really diminish the building experience. Mine has been sitting on the windowsill for quite a while, speeding up the process, and when I dropped it two (easy to find) pieces broke and putting it back together felt like building a sinking ship. Lots of creaking and they didn't grip as smoothly as the bricks usually do.
Still looks fantastic tho, even with the yellowed sails, maybe even more so.
My white whale would be the Emerald Night. That one was just OOP when I bought the imperial flagship and I didn't feel like it was worth the marked up prices... Those prices are a lot higher now.
Ha yeah it’s one the only set where yellowed pieces can actually make it look better. That’s a good point about the brown pieces, I hadn’t thought of that
UCS Sandcrawler
Battle of Helm's Deep
Falcon Knight Castle
Barracuda Bay
Mountain Fortress set (that just sold on Bricklink)
The Hobbit 79003 - the figures are just so good and my dark ages moc's are missing them!
The cmf black raven - I held one in my hands (sealed blind bag, had a 99%+ strike rate) though my dark ages moc period was in it's dark ages so I put it back..
The 10197 Fire Brigade, like the others on top, I held it in my hands in the store - was a money issue at the time though and I chose the petshop instead, which i prefered back then, now it seems generic and the fire brigade has way more character.
The pirates of the carribean and LOTR "battle packs", all the smaller sets with awesome figrues I really could use for my moc's.
At the end of the day, I'm prette well off, since Lego just keeps on pumping out amazing new sets and versions time and time again. Star Wars, Harry Potter, those beautiful re-releases of pirates and knights sets lately and all those new parts, the ongoigg wave of amazing animals and figures available throught pab.. is borderline overkill haha good times!
There really aren’t any bad LOTR or Hobbit minifigures, they’re all just so good. I’m trying to collect them now before they get even more expensive.
Thanks for sharing your experience. You’re right LEGO is definitely in its prime at the moment. Long may it continue
top 5, in non particular order:
UCS A-wing, second favourite Star Wars ship after the Tie Interceptor. cant justify the price and space for it though.
Deep Freeze Defender, one of the only sets i didnt get from the Ice Planet 2022 line. not completely unreasonable to pick up used. but it is also something i dont have room for.
UFO Alien Avenger, another of the 90's spacecraft that i didnt grab at the time, but that in hindsight looks amazing
Black Seas Barracuda/Skull's eye Scooner, i have one of the Imperials Flaggship (1992 version), but never got a large pirate counterpart. and now all the classice tallships are very expensive. both of these look great and i cant reliably tell which one i like more.
Black Falcons Fortress, same deal as pirates, i have one of the classic castle sets, but this is the best second castle that i never got to balance out the factions. now it is just way to unreasonably priced.
Can’t fault this list. I remember I had the Alien Avenger as a kid. If I can find all the parts I’ll do a review of it
@@pattle i feel like it is the best set in the UFO line, even more than the flagsship set "Interstellar Starfighter". it just capture the Iconic looks so well. but for some reason i cant remember i never got into the UFO line as a kid.
The Lord of the Rings theme is actually returning. We will see a few sets January of 2025, two of which will be battle packs. I would NOT try to buy the Tower of Orthanc. If LotR returns like Harry Potter and stays around, they will eventually make a new Tower of Orthanc.
I didn’t realise there would be battle packs, can’t wait for those!
How do you know?
@@czek1306 It’s happening. One of the battle packs will be rohan-centered. January 2025. However, the sets are going to be based on the LotR animation that is coming soon. I am sure movie based sets will happen.
@somethingawesome9547 you are so full of yourself
Rivendale and the UCS Millennium Falcon are on my list.
Mine would be LEGO 76139 1989 Batmobile, 10242 mini cooper, 10248 Creator Ferrari F40, 10262 Creator Expert James Bond Aston Martin DB5 and one from my childhood that i use to own 6375 Trans Air Carrier airplane jet
My number 1 set that I want to get is the RMS Titanic one.
Do track down the Fairground Mixer. You won't regret it.
Any Frank Lloyd Wright set. But your list is great too.
I sold my Imperial Flagship on eBay. It was cool, but too fragile.
Someone else has mentioned this because of the use of brown pieces
Add my vote for a Tintin theme!
I would be so cool, hopefully it they bring out another film it might happen
gotta be the unreleased overwatch 2 titan set for me
Ucs Star destroyer
Ewok village
Death Star 1
Death Star 2
Ghostbusters hq
Runner up Voltron
