    I had a bowel perforation following an ovarian tumor removal. My doctor was honest about the mistake, and kept me in the hospital for 3 days. I was not allowed to eat or drink anything during the hospital stay in case they needed to operate again. You should have been informed of the perforation, and you should have been treated accordingly! I would say that you have grounds for a malpractice case.

    I had a vaginal hysterectomy and it was the worst experience of my life, I woke up afterwards and said stomach hurt and it turned out I had internal bleeding and was not doing good..they laid me flat and after hours I said please phone my hubby as it was supposed to be day surgery , they never called him with my complications until I told them too.. I ended up staying over 4 days due to losing half my body’s blood volume … The surgeon said don’t worry your body will absorb the blood in my pelvis … 3 weeks later I was gray, feeling nausea, lump in my abdominal .. and starting leaking out black gray blood and the smell was horrific .. surgeon still didn’t want to do anything.. 2 er trips and thank goodness for my family dr put me on strong antibiotics… But I bled like this for over 3 weeks.. I smelled like a decomposing body .. For a surgery that would have taken me 3 weeks to recover was over 10 weeks, so now I have scar tissue galore in my abdominal area .. The surgeon said I was one out of 10,000 people who had complications… He nicked a vessel.. He put me through a horrible thing and wished they would have opened me up day one . No woman should go through this .. Sorry that you had an awful experience and speedy recovery to you .

    I don’t think it’s the enema that caused the sepsis. They messed up and are blaming it on you to avoid liability.

    Oh girl, they should have told you all that after the surgery. That’s not right at all. I had a softball size mixed tumor on my ovary. My gram died from ovarian cancer. After my surgery I was told I didn’t have cancer, but he said I was quite lucky because they almost lost me. Makes me wonder what really happened tbh. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. ❤

    My God these doctors aren’t lacking the necessary skills! it’s scary you really have to have self-care with your body now. I’m so glad that you put this out. I know it is hard but it’s truly needed!!! The same scenario to some degree happened to Antoinnette another TH-camr from Halle Berry being missed diagnosed with herpes when she’s going to menopause!!!..Must be a better way to have care for Black women bodies !!!! 😢 I’m glad that you’re still here with us🫶🏾💯✌🏾

    Ob-Gyn's are notoriously unskilled surgeons as a whole. There are the occasional exceptions. They receive very little surgical training as the majority of their training is in obstetrics. I am an RNFA who specializes in robotic Gynecological surgeries. In the right hands, your difficult case should never have ended up as it did. I would also question why the colostomy? If they resected the damaged bowel, they can typically re-anastomose the two healthy ends. I'm very sorry your surgeon didn't do a better job of planning the surgery and didn't have the skill to take on such a challenging case.

    It seems like she would have informed you after surgery that she had accidentally perforated your bowel, that would have likely made you say I won’t do an enema since my colon had been perforated and repaired. Why didn’t they tell you after surgery?

    I had a bad time with my hysterectomy but different from yours. It is NOT a quick easy operation. I was 45 and bleeding so badly every month I got anemia. My nurse practicioner sent me to a gynecologist who did a vaginal ultrasound and they found a huge fibroid in my uterus. That explained the bleeding but I also had ovarian cysts, and they were dark, which suggested they were filled with blood or I had cancer (I also had an elevated C-125 blood test, a sign of cancer). The doctor went out on maternity leave and I got stuck with a man who wanted to rip everything out, no item-by-item procedures. I wasn't happy but I was also afraid of cancer. So I did go in for a complete hysterectomy. On the way to the recovery room my lungs collapsed and I couldn't breathe. I had the big vertical cut. They found I had severe endometriosis (no symptoms). wasn't making my blood supply back so needed a transfusion in the middle of the night. What got me was the PAIN. I had little to no pain control at all. I was 8 days in hospital and released with my mom there to look after me as well as the visiting nurse. My BP was very high due to the pain and I couldn't even roll over in bed, much less walk. The nurse called the doctor but he would not up my pain meds because he was "afraid I would get addicted." He said to take 800mg ibuprofen. Finally I called him and begged and he very begrudgingly agreed to change the meds to a stronger one. Once I got those I finally began to recover. It was in 2002 and I swear I'm not fully recovered yet. Surgical menopause was no fun either. I would counsel any woman to get a second opinion before she's filleted like a fish and not taken proper aftercare of.

    • @nicolewise
      @nicolewise 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's horrible!!! I agree. I wish I'd gone to a different gynecologist for a second opinion.
