Thanks for the video! It was really informative, especially for the non-yuri ones since I don't really search for that content. I really appreciated the trigger warnings too. Flip Flappers was my first lesbian anime, shortly followed by the masterpiece that is Bloom Into You. It was the anime that made me realise "wait, I can be both asexual AND a lesbian??" and was the catalyst for my coming out. I'm also one of those lesbians that actually loves Citrus (at least the manga). The anime is very fanservice-y with a lot more focus on the assault scenes and fetishising the "eroticness" of the situation (which are actually really drawn out in the anime, unlike the manga), whereas the manga instead places the focus on trauma and the characters' emotions. The mangaka is herself a lesbian and iirc Citrus is loosely based on some of her experiences (not the incest part though). It's also worth noting that the immense popularity of both Bloom Into You and Citrus opened the doors more many future yuri works, and without either (or both) the yuri anime and manga scene would likely not be where it is today, with 7+ yuri anime in 2023, 5+ so far this year, and potentially 5+ in 2025.

My mieruko chan theory is that the mangaka wanted to tell a certain story but then had an idea and was like “nah we are gonna pivot to this instead” and dropped in more lore and stuff. That or the fanservice/slice of life stuff was a way to get it initially published in order to get to the more interesting stuff

Ok so I got a bit curious when you said you doubted any women worked on Sakura Trick outside of the voice actors. 1 kinda fun fact I learned: the original mangaka seems to be very anonymous, the only names we seem to know that they go by is "Tachi" and "Gutsutoma" and no pictures anywhere. They have a personal website that seems to be for business inquires, but that's about it. Though the design of that site looks very stereotypically girly, so take that for what it's worth. Outside of that, the only non-VA woman I could find on MAL (specifically that had pictures on their bio, I'm not going to go off from names alone) were the editor, Matsubara Rie, and the chief animation director/character designer, Sakai Kyuuta. I'd argue those are pretty highly ranking when it comes to decisions about the animation and presentation... xD

the reason why victor and yuri's relationship seems so surface level is because we r seeing the situation through yuris perspective how ever theres a special episode that changes the way we see it because its told thru victors perspective and it was shown yuri got drunk n got rlly sexual by grinding on him and dancing with him n he falls in love with him just bcs of that party but yuri has no memory from it so later on when victor makes him do eros as the playboy hes basically hinting at it by the story he gave yuri to do hes the lady falling for yuri and then yuri/playboy just vanishes afterward

I came here to see if there was some other way to watch the HF movies… nope. Why doesn’t Crunchyroll have it bro! Anyways, UBW is the ideal starting point but I’d say Zero is also good at easing you into Fate as well; it’s a more traditional holy grail war for one, I’d say there are more characters to get attached to, and it’s still quite good as a standalone story. While UBW is definitely the better option in most cases, Zero is not at all bad if you’re more unsure of whether or not you’ll even like Fate/people on the fence about the series. Massive part of why you don’t introduce someone to Star Wars with the prequels is because they’re all mostly ass except for Revenge of the Sith

I watched main core in release order and I enjoyed it very well, Fate route is kinda old but if you don't mind older graphics and kinda poor pacing then it's good starting point.

I would not necessarily say that series have a lot more time being made than anome movies. Most anime movies are a cut above most series because they have more time and less to focus on. But now I'm also thinking that if you add the length of a 12 ep series they usually ARENT too much longer than a 2 hour movie. What I'm trying to say is that I think just as much time goes into the movies as time that goes into shows.

Yuri on Ice's author HAS to b "teetering d lines so much" bc japan has an unusual approach w yaoi/bl anime, for example no.6 was marketed as sci-fi action anime when it definitely has BL content in it bc mentioning dat part of d anime would make more marketing adjustments dat would affect d popularity of d anime itself, marketing no.6 as BL would make their market lose interest w d sci-fi action plot. The same thing w Yuri on Ice, they gotta b careful in confirming d BL part of d anime bc they wanna market it as sport anime in order to get bigger market. It's weird to hear someone call highschool of the dead's fanservice annoying, since that is one of it's 2 selling points (the other is action of course). Like shows like HOTD or another famous one from the same time Highschool dxd aren't shows with inserted fanservice anymore. They are kind of built around it. People like HOTD for being incredible dumb fun entertainment. The fanservice is just as over the top as the action. people look at it, to see boobies bounce and zombies get smacked, and enjoy the hell out of it for that. It is by no means a masterpiece, but when it comes to what it is trying to do, it fucking nails it. Questioning the fanservice of a show like it, is questioning it's very nature and core. It's like criticizing a romance for having romance. It's the show's core identity. I mean it's ok to not like excessive fanservice at all, but in this case it's like watching a battle shounen and complaining about there being too much action. It's not a flaw, it's just the type of show that it wants to be.

I wouldn't called Serial Experiments Lain horror in any capacity even if it does have some spooky things and Boogiepop Phantom is an urban fantasy, along the lines of Durarara! Lain is also not on the spectrum, the show came out in 1998, at least 10 years before autism became a bigger deal than what it is today.

I think Mononoke is the best horror anime, you should check it out. Edit: I’m not talking about Princess Mononoke.

A anime I think you should watch is Dorohedoro, it's action, mystery and psychological but most importantly it's got great humor! It doesn't have those terrible edgy stories just for shock value like Elfen lied. But it does have a good amount of scary scenes that will make you go 🗿. I think a lot of people dissed it off because of its animation (it's 3d animation), I think it's manga is also quite unconventional. Never the less it so deserves attention 😫, it's stands out and I'd just would love to hear it talked about.

I'm so happy you warned about fanservice... I'm never forgiving the youtuber who recommended flip flappers without mentioning how horrible the fanservice was. i love a good ecchi, but i miss when ecchi was labled so and was it's own genre, now it just leeches it's way into everything else. I do not need it in my magical girl shows >:/

Yurikuma Arashi is so special to me as a queer furry (problematic elements aside), I’m happy it will be covered in this list. I’m very excited for this video. 🙂 Will give a proper “congrats” in the edit once I’m done watching. This is why Satan perserverates on her and how much work it takes to try to bring her into the fold. Shes the ultimate prize and has had her entire life orchestrated to fall into his clutches
