The thing is this is a joke. Reiji loves pranking his fans. People need to understand Japanese humour. Rent a girlfriend is a typical serialised manga. It will keep going as long as people buy it. Usually series won't end until the editor feels it can't continue anymore. It is a good series with plenty of fillers. Anime today feels hollow. I feel like filler chapters actually adds more to a manga like exploring quirks readers might not necessarily see in a story focused series.
Also the beret guy is not a self insert. The guy is a character. Chapter 218 will go down as one of the greatest manga chapters of all time because it broke the 4th wall. It gave the MC more character than every single harem MC combined since it showed him feeling jealous and imagining his girl getting NTRed, something most romance don't even bother writing.
What if he's unhappy with his marriage/family and therefore made his creations as a way to get away from everything. This could just be a coping mechanism that's... Really concerning..

He is either the dumbest person in this world or the smartest person in this world (by trolling his fans). In my opinion, he is finally giving those elements in his manga which he wanted to implant. He's an artist not a writer. He needs to get someone who can write the story for him. We need less fan service. We need less "she's so beautiful". We need more progression. we need this story to end. We need Kazuya to be more confident and less pervy. We need Mizuhara to stop dragging out her feelings. Ect.
This is part of my main gripe with animes and mangas where it just drags on from progression that regress to fanservices, flashbacks, or side stuff that doesn't impact the story as much.

As an artist myself, I won't say it's impossible cause there are times when i realise that the character i drew looks really beautiful but actually romanticizing them is uncharted territory.
FINALLY someone said this, because I do too, as a character designer, I do fall in love to some of my characters, not in a romantic or sexual way, but whenever I hit the right spot of their design or character, I get so proud like a supportive parent. I want to draw them over and over again on many different ways, like giving opportunities to an employee. Just the happiness of creating a promising character design (even if it's just for the artist) is a great feeling.
In my case its not sexsualised but more about how ideal her characteristic and personality I want to give her which that inspire me and as result i wander if such person can exist in real life.
Perhaps it's a similar story to me. I am not an artist, but I am trying to write a story for potential novel as my hobby. And sometimes I really fall in love with the process! Not in these strange ways, but it's like being a parent, who sees the story of a character and its progression during the plot of the story! It feels very inspiring, like I am getting proud of my creation and myself! Don't know how to explain it, hope you understand! If you have such a strong connection with your own characters and story, you may want to do something "unusual", like more adult pictures or adults plots, but I think it's important to know where is the edge of this! Or at least don't make it public.
Akb49 is a really, really good manga. The main character (male) is go through a lot of hardships, initially for the girl he like, but in the end he become a great idol himself to pay back for the team and production company that have give him and other girls goals and dreams to achieve. Really wholesome and rarely any ecchi moment. Damn I kinda feel embarrassed that The Rental girlfriend's author is working for this series
Its the reason why I was looking forward to Rent a Girlfriend in the first place. It was the first manga I found of the author, and while it really really has the same problem as Rent a Girlfriend of dragging out and losing focus on side characters, the characters themselves and drama is just SOOO much better than the shit he is peddling atm lmao. Like theres a reason why he got 200+ chapters of it.

I don't think it's wrong to fall in love with your own character, because it means you created something with qualities you wish someone had. Now, bringing those feelings into the real world doesn't work out since unfortunately they don't exist.
I think the mangaka is trolling to some degree, but I do think he may have an overtly attachment to his character Mizuhara and she s=could be the subject of his projected fantasies. I do think he is trolling his audience will they or won't situation which will just lead his readers to quit reading if he is not taking the story to the next.
I really wished this is just his attempt to self sabotage so he doesn't have to argue about making an ending with the editor. I really wished its just a creative difference of "artist trying to move on but contradicted with having assistants and providing a business" issue. But then again, the plot remains still for 218 chapters is not something that can be remedied quick. Even if other mangas like Nisekoi managed to give an example on how to silently ends a plot-suspended romcom manga.

For me, i really like the style of drawing when he combinated the reallife pictures with his drawings of Chifuyu. Ok, the bathroom picture may be more slowly a nsfw picture, but its ok. But yeah, i think he destroyed his own story, it's sad because the potential was there and i liked the first season. Maybe he was a bit to much fan of his own work?

Wow dang, that was something. I am currently studying on my way becoming an artist and an art director in the future. But, I'm quite speechless seeing this video describing the mangaka would go so far out something I wouldn't expect to see.
I just randomly started watching this anime and finished it in 2 days after which I was in depression, so I decided to read the manga. Once I started from chapter 85 I couldn't control myself and completed reading all the chapters(85-252) in one day. I was in complete anguish after this was over and I wouldn't even sleep well for a day or so, eventually I started feeling better after watching Love is War. So this advice is for anyone who is going to start this manga/anime anytime soon, PLEASE DON'T, and even if you do don't fall into depression like me, as this is just a story and you have lots of people who love you.

It is weird but it acutally happens to some creators in general, some even treat their creations as their child just like monty oum's RWBY because sometimes its the manifestation of their desires that can never be/most probably cant happen in real life due to some circstances or how ridiculous it is.

@@mosesracal6758 The official dojin for love is war is actually pretty tame. There are a few spicy chapters then it just becomes like fairy tales with the characters inserted into them. Pretty boring tbh. (There's a lot more spicy stuff out there to read) - also I don't really see why people are getting mad about sex scenes being drawn into a manga primarily about a type of prostitution, basically. The the early chapters were all about Kazuya jerking off. The last thing the series is is "wholesome," like come on.
I really liked this series in the beginning because Chizuru felt like a breath of fresh air from all the typical anime archetypes we see in every series. I've been watching anime since 2012 and everything has started to feel more or less the same. Same characters just in a different scenario with a new design. Chizuru felt much more grounded in reality. Just a normal person doing their job trying to achieve their goal. I was hoping this series would do what Re:Zero did and put the main characters issues front and centre and break down why Kazuya behaves the way he does and have Chizuru in her own way help Kazuya understand why his behaviour is inappropriate. But it was just lie after lie, after lie and neither person wants to take responsibility. This series would have been better if it had ended in the movie arc. I hope this series gets an anime original ending because it's been dragging on for way too long.

When I read novels or watch stuff I subconsciously self-insert myself by comparing the mc to me, that’s why I cheer for the mc/protagonist to succeed, and angry if another character betrays the mc. The entire thing about novels and this medium of entertainment is that we subconsciously imagine ourselves being in the scene, being the badass or something; I can’t comprehend how you can be jealous of your own main character; especially since authors tend to use themselves as reference to create a protagonist so they can relate to their story’s main character and feel more motivated about writing them.

Been noticing these kinda posts on his Twitter recently and it’s so bizarre because it gives so much context to Kazuya’s idolization of Mizuhara and how everyone always stares at her in public which was annoying af after the 20th time. Also explains the sexualization of her as well… chapter 218 was him just wanting to draw Mizuhara getting fucked…so weird man lmao It would also explain how he keeps reminding his readers that Chizuru is perfect but then continues to write her as indecisive, inconsiderate and hypocritical. After the vacation arc ended with their date and it was seemingly moving into the next arc I knew it was the perfect place to stop because reading it weekly made me so angry and lost some braincells… I’ll check in on it in a few months but for now I’m done.
The dude took a life size Chizuru statue on a real date . You have a smaller series that puts a lot of love and they don't have any continuation or season 1 anime. And something like Rent a girlfriend ran series can get a season 3
Thank God I dropped the manga in its early chapters and instantly found a much better harem manga. It's called "100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You." As ridiculous as it sounds, it really will feature 100 girlfriends, and the premise is somehow working. The manga's protagonist is a chad, the girls are lovable too, and they all have distinct personalities that make interactions really charming. The author, Nakamura Rikito, and artist, Nozawa Yukiko, care a lot about the characters and this world they created. The manga's theme is heavily focused on love. So I'd suggest people read it after experiencing Rent-a-Girlfriend and the less than preferable direction it's taking.

I'm less concerned by the admittedly odd Mizuhara thing and more concerned he put a little bit of himself into all of his characters when one of those characters is Mami. There is no part of Mami that isn't just the worst.
Someone propositioned, I think Mother's Basement but I'm not sure, that Mami exists as Karmic Punishment for Kazuya's shitheelery. Also a nice usage of the fact that Karma doesn't line up neatly with morality, it's just a sense of what you do to others will be done unto you. This man was releasing bangers before: making mangas people were reading with big interest, even outselling a show for opening of one of his creations. I really interest in how the German version will handle chapter 218 (it’s currently available til 130) because the rest of the series is approved from the age of 14, and that seems a bit low for that chapter.
He's trolling. Also Japanese doesn't translate to English exactly. Japanese is context heavy and there may be mistranslations. I also think he's tweeting these as if he was Kazuya. Or he's tweeting these to praise Mizuhara. Like a marketing tactic. Tatsuki Fujimoto did something similar where he pretended to be a younger girl in his tweets, talking about Tatsuki, himself, as an older brother.

As an artist myself, I won't say it's impossible cause there are times when i realise that the character i drew looks really beautiful but actually romanticizing them is uncharted territory.
FINALLY someone said this, because I do too, as a character designer, I do fall in love to some of my characters, not in a romantic or sexual way, but whenever I hit the right spot of their design or character, I get so proud like a supportive parent. I want to draw them over and over again on many different ways, like giving opportunities to an employee.
Just the happiness of creating a promising character design (even if it's just for the artist) is a great feeling.
In my case its not sexsualised but more about how ideal her characteristic and personality I want to give her which that inspire me and as result i wander if such person can exist in real life.
Perhaps it's a similar story to me. I am not an artist, but I am trying to write a story for potential novel as my hobby. And sometimes I really fall in love with the process! Not in these strange ways, but it's like being a parent, who sees the story of a character and its progression during the plot of the story! It feels very inspiring, like I am getting proud of my creation and myself! Don't know how to explain it, hope you understand!
If you have such a strong connection with your own characters and story, you may want to do something "unusual", like more adult pictures or adults plots, but I think it's important to know where is the edge of this! Or at least don't make it public.

Akb49 is a really, really good manga. The main character (male) is go through a lot of hardships, initially for the girl he like, but in the end he become a great idol himself to pay back for the team and production company that have give him and other girls goals and dreams to achieve.

I don't think it's wrong to fall in love with your own character, because it means you created something with qualities you wish someone had. Now, bringing those feelings into the real world doesn't work out since unfortunately they don't exist.
I think the mangaka is trolling to some degree, but I do think he may have an overtly attachment to his character Mizuhara and she s=could be the subject of his projected fantasies. I do think he is trolling his audience will they or won't situation which will just lead his readers to quit reading if he is not taking the story to the next.

Wow dang, that was something. I am currently studying on my way becoming an artist and an art director in the future. But, I'm quite speechless seeing this video describing the mangaka would go so far out something I wouldn't expect to see.
I just randomly started watching this anime and finished it in 2 days after which I was in depression, so I decided to read the manga. Once I started from chapter 85 I couldn't control myself and completed reading all the chapters(85-252) in one day. I was in complete anguish after this was over and I wouldn't even sleep well for a day or so, eventually I started feeling better after watching Love is War. So this advice is for anyone who is going to start this manga/anime anytime soon, PLEASE DON'T, and even if you do don't fall into depression like me, as this is just a story and you have lots of people who love you.

Pretty boring tbh. (There's a lot more spicy stuff out there to read) - also I don't really see why people are getting mad about sex scenes being drawn into a manga primarily about a type of prostitution, basically. The the early chapters were all about Kazuya jerking off. The last thing the series is is "wholesome," like come on.

I really liked this series in the beginning because Chizuru felt like a breath of fresh air from all the typical anime archetypes we see in every series. I've been watching anime since 2012 and everything has started to feel more or less the same. Same characters just in a different scenario with a new design. Chizuru felt much more grounded in reality. Just a normal person doing their job trying to achieve their goal. I was hoping this series would do what Re:Zero did and put the main characters issues front and centre and break down why Kazuya behaves the way he does and have Chizuru in her own way help Kazuya understand why his behaviour is inappropriate. But it was just lie after lie, after lie and neither person wants to take responsibility. This series would have been better if it had ended in the movie arc. I hope this series gets an anime original ending because it's been dragging on for way too long.

The entire thing about novels and this medium of entertainment is that we subconsciously imagine ourselves being in the scene, being the badass or something; I can’t comprehend how you can be jealous of your own main character; especially since authors tend to use themselves as reference to create a protagonist so they can relate to their story’s main character and feel more motivated about writing them.
Yeah, we've all done it hundreds of times across media. It's strange how this mechanism didn't activate in the author's brain lol. And even if he's into NTR, he should feel frustration _through_ the MC.

Been noticing these kinda posts on his Twitter recently and it’s so bizarre because it gives so much context to Kazuya’s idolization of Mizuhara and how everyone always stares at her in public which was annoying af after the 20th time. Also explains the sexualization of her as well… chapter 218 was him just wanting to draw Mizuhara getting fucked…so weird man lmao It would also explain how he keeps reminding his readers that Chizuru is perfect but then continues to write her as indecisive, inconsiderate and hypocritical. After the vacation arc ended with their date and it was seemingly moving into the next arc I knew it was the perfect place to stop because reading it weekly made me so angry and lost some braincells… I’ll check in on it in a few months but for now I’m done.

The dude took a life size Chizuru statue on a real date . You have a smaller series that puts a lot of love and they don't have any continuation or season 1 anime. And something like Rent a girlfriend ran series can get a season 3

Thank God I dropped the manga in its early chapters and instantly found a much better harem manga. It's called "100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You." As ridiculous as it sounds, it really will feature 100 girlfriends, and the premise is somehow working. The manga's protagonist is a chad, the girls are lovable too, and they all have distinct personalities that make interactions really charming. The author, Nakamura Rikito, and artist, Nozawa Yukiko, care a lot about the characters and this world they created. The manga's theme is heavily focused on love.
So I'd suggest people read it after experiencing Rent-a-Girlfriend and the less than preferable direction it's taking.

@@sasukeuchiha998 It's not that kind of manga? It's sort of a parody that doesn't take itself too seriously, but that doesn't mean that it can't be serious at times. Kinda similar to Gintama or Saiki Kusou.
Child support? If Rentarou doesn't have sex with them, how could such a subject be brought up in the manga? Definitely not a vasectomy either.

Someone propositioned, I think Mother's Basement but I'm not sure, that Mami exists as Karmic Punishment for Kazuya's shitheelery.
Also a nice usage of the fact that Karma doesn't line up neatly with morality, it's just a sense of what you do to others will be done unto you. Until he becomes a better person for real, Mami will be a 100 ton weight on his back, crushing him.

It's a 50/50 for me. I don't truly believe that a person like him could at some point become insane over his own creation. This man was releasing bangers before: making mangas people were reading with big interest, even outselling a show for opening of one of his creations. Before the start of working on Rent-A-Girlfriend he even decided to actually rent a Girlfriend and ask some questions probably to help him understand these people better. You're telling me that he takes photos of real places and decides to sit down and carefully draw her with perfect light, shading etc. to confidently say that she lives with him? He has a wife and kids. I genuinely don't *completely* believe that this man is being serious. This may be trolling or some kind of marketing for anything he may be planning in the future.
