Hello guys, the sound is strange this time 🫣 cheeeers
As a former owner of 2 928s (1990 S4 & 1993 GTS) I have to say that they are very different beasts compared to the 911! I've also been lucky enough to have also owned a 1990 964 and still own a 1996 993. They are all wonderful machines, but the 928 is a GT and the 911 is a sports car. Different strokes for different folks! Cheers from a rather miserable and wet Otford, Kent, UK.
Will you take $900k for it?
I got my 2004 C4S in 2018 with 97,000 from the original owner in excellent condition. It now has 137,000 miles, and I would say it’s even a better car to drive.
If someone gave me a gt3 rs I would trade it for a gts or gt3 touring.
Agree with David about the Turbo S. That green makes me think of Comet cleanser. To each, his own.
I have many miles, both track and street, in 964RS. I have always felt this car is the pure 911 without feeling old. I have some miles in 993RS and have driven both back to back. For me, the 964 3.6 was just as fast and a lot more raw than 993. I personally don’t love wings on the street. Even the small wing on 993RS is a bit much for me. But it does have A/C making it much more usable than 964. These days I love my RSish ‘98 C2S split grill with suspension, hardbacks, gear shift linkage.
Good to see David Jacobon back

I just stumbled onto this podcast but 8.5 min was all I could suffer through with the earbuds. I might try it again another time.
What a tasteful build! Wouldn't change a thing on this car if it were mine
Nice 😇
Thank you for affirming my decision to spend ALL the money on my PTS 997 this summer from RFMC. And yes, I bought it because I’ve always coveted the PTS cars. I find it a bit annoying that they’ve become the it thing for all the Pcar high rollers who can swing a GT car allocation.
AUDIO PROBLEM: We apologize for the poor audio quality. Unfortunately the issue occurred during taping and could not be fixed post production. Since it cannot be fixed, we decided to leave the video live. Thank you for watching.
You guys should re-record the episode if you can’t get that sound right. It’s unwatchable.
@@bryandahlberg1956 The team is working on it. Thank you for the feedback
Where you see 981 Boxters S 6 speed, are they going to keep their values. A good example less than 50k miles. I see them 41-48k on auction websites. I know y’all talk only about 911s. Can you dedicate an episode to lesser/step sibling models. Thank you for all the information.
@@SRG7796 will do. Thank you for watching
@ Also my second question is 992.1 GTS 7 spd. I’m interested in one as well. This being the last of the manual GTS, do you see anything special about it? Thank you again
@@SRG7796 I'd look at 991.1 GTS. Last of N/A. Even better would be a limited version such as Club Coupe or Rennsport Reunion Edition. Also, I go into Boxsters in the newsletter. Big fan.
what's a n/gt ?
@@Laguna2013 sorry we should’ve put up a picture. It’s a lightweight version of the 964 RS

The mikes need to be closer to your mouths.
I know I'm CLEARLY in the minority here, but to me the slantnose looks like PORSCHE bolted on the front of a TR7. I've always thought its greatest appeal was simply that it was "different" and rare. Yet, the 996 is hated because it was "different". But not NEARLY as different as the slantnose which literally decimated evereything the 911 represented. Runny eggs vs pop ups? I'd take scrambled eggs over those ugly things any day!!! A flat hood? Should've cancelled the 911 and the 928 and just kept building 944's. If PORSCHE ever actually went into heavy production with these, l truly think they would have become the red headed step child of the air cooled era. Is anyone retromodding these? Maybe a few now n then but not many. Why something that screams 1980's but NO manufacturers gone back to since pretty much says it all. We sure this ones not a "Jon Voight" car Dine with the rant, great show, love the channel... Oh, almost forgot, and on a freakin Cabriolet!!! Volkswagen called, they're looking for their convertable bug!!!
I agree. The slant nose ruins the proportions of tge car.
Keep these going. So very informative…Happy Thanksgiving..
What you think about 981 and 987.2 Boxter S and above, manual
Yo I have a 997 turbo and an e39 m5 lol
Who noticed the Lamborgini in the background?
Speed yellow. 😂 Chode colour
and the sound of a F40 is just as dull as a inline 4 .. any inline 4 engine. Any Porsche 911 even a SC early/mid 80s makes better sound than that dull car. The only legit farrary is the 288
“Fixing defects like ‘sanding down the weave’... what an uneducated, clueless brat!
This is stunning!
The market will follow the crypto and stock market bull run
Jim you are spot on! I just sold a P car for far less than I wanted. Love the show!
F40's are all amazing, but the few in other colours are extra special
great podcast you guys do a great job, having said that what ever happen to David J.

Same here?
As an owner of a 50th Anniversary Club Coupe I am interested in why these cars seem to languish in value as opposed to a 993 Carrera S which I also own and follow. 1,726 US Carrera S value 155k? 50 Club Coupes value 100k....air cooled vs water but in much lower numbers...I am guessing that's the reason...yet it seems odd...IMHO
Is that a 991 50th Anniversary edition…or is it a Club Coupe? They are different. Is your car blue…or Gyser Grey, black, or darker grey?
BTW, I have never seen a Club Coupe sell for anything close to $100k. Most 50YAs sell for $100k-$160k, depending on color and options. CCs sell for >$150k.
When are the 2023 GT 3 RS coming down? Porsche of Palm Springs has 6 of them!
Thank you for watching. As is with all cars selling at premium over MSRP we advise to proceed with caution. Your observations about the inventory are very astute and could be a sign to keep a close eye on the prices for that model.
Have u tried offering? I paid over for mine
Great info!
Just traded in my 997.2 Carrera S in for a Turbo S...... Can't wait.
You'd be surprised how much attention the 928's get among the air cooled 911 owners. Most of them respect 928's a lot and they find the car very interesting. Times have changed.
Wow what companies or business do they own?
What a great story, my new fave TH-cam channel!
Sultan of Brunei... I think believe it or not ordered 8..I'm sure he had yellow... Black.. Grey and green query custom interior colours.
Great episode. You really concentrated on finding the essence of each flavor of SL through the generations in terms of value and performance. That's not easy at all.
Baught a targa after watching love this build
@@kroberts6260 congratulations. Great purchase
Is this a wide body? Looks like one is it because the two sides at the bottom are changed to match the bigger wheels so optically this looks wide? This is so pretty
I absolutely want a R129 video! :)
This is a great show. But how could a 997 ever reach the value of the air cooled? That is just an insane proposition. 964 and 993 were produced about 65-68K each and half of them are cabrios, targas and tiptronics (a lot of them in Europe). Very few manual coupes, really. They produced over 200.000 997's and 221.000 units of 991's. You never consider the production numbers? The new water cooled cars are literally mass produced cars whereas the 964 and 993 were hand built, completely different generation. How on earth could those values rise to the level 964 and 993? Outside the turbos and special models it's never going to happen, imho. Same for any 996. And hey, I drive a 996 4S but these are mass produced cars. They produced 1.5 times more 996's than 993 and 964 combined.
Well done guys. I have owned 3 generations of sl. You showed a pic of my current sl63 which I am immensely enjoying. Although R129 is and will always be the best. Current sl is not selling and should have never used the name. It’s simply a amg gt.
When you think of the „first Porsche“ you might mean the 1939 Type 64
David the engine judge. Good to see you online. Missed you at the Birmingham parade. We had the 904 GTS this year.
Hey! Congrats on the win in Birmingham. Hope to see you guys at next year's Parade
Excellent episode. Enjoyed every minute. And you're absolutely right about R129. That and W140 were the last really over-engineered, top quality Mercedes-Benzes. Just like when the transformation from hand built 964's and 993's moved to water cooled and new mass production like with 996/Boxter, Mercedes quality went down. Both Porsche and Mercedes seriously cut the production costs at that time. I think the only reason why R129 prices haven't gone up is that they made so many of them. I think more than 200.000. Ironically it was too popular. Keep up the good work. Great channel.
Good job chaps 👍🏼
