All of that made a whole lot of sense for the UK market as well 👍. Don’t know if you have specialists there taking 997 gen1’s with bore score and IMS issues, boring them to 4.0 litre with steel liners and producing affordable bomb proof 997’s for reasonable sums?
Have you owned a 3.0 Turbo? Not special. Probably the worst 911 I've owned of almost 80 cars in 45 years. US cars had pre-catalytic converter thermal reactors for cold start HC control and magnesium cases. The heat warped the cases, oil leaked on the reactors and was a smokey mess. Euro cars without the reactors were better but still leaky magnesium cases. This car invented the term "turbo lag." 3.3 had aluminum/silicon alloy cases, significantly less lag and is a much better car.
I've owned both 3.0 and 3.3 930s over the years. I prefer the 3.0, but that might be due to my age and wanting to have that "doctor killer" feeling from the boost kicking in. If I were buying these new back in the '70s and '80s and experienced the progression, then perhaps I'd prefer the '89 as the latest and greatest.
I love My 95 993 Polar Silver Coupe. bought it in 2014, Best Investment I made.
Please do these as often as possible! Love it!
Once again, so much value packed into these! Thank you both. I could watch these daily.
Good job Jim you should host more often
Very interesting discussion with David Whitlock's knowledge and comments adding context to your own observations, Jim. Great job!

Here in Europe the US spec 930s have lower values then the Euro examples.
