I totally agree with you about the colors. First of all - I have never seen a white 996 C4S before and wow! Is it amazing looking. Also, I agree about the red color in the 70s-80s G bodied cars with retractable bumpers only - not so, the 964. I never like it before and always thought 911s never look good in red. So when it came time to buy my 991.1 two years ago, I planned on a black or grey one until one day I saw a guards red car. My jaw just dropped! I can't believe how amazing it looked. Immediately I bought a red C4S when one came up. It's been two years and I still can't get over how amazing it looked. Same goes with a red 996 C4S and Turbo.

My sister in law bought that last black car for my brother for his 50th birthday. The car is in amazing condition and so fun to drive. Handles like it’s on rails! Great video. I’m glad I came across you guys. Cheers from Syracuse.

Great video. The white is wonderful to look at. I own 2003 996 4S and love the car. The clock is now on 4500 miles, black on black with guards red seatbelts and with extended leather interior, center, arm rest an sunadviser are in leather. Its Stunning 🤩..

Pictures! Kindness! Empathy! Seller engagement! Nice episode. I’ve got just the right mix (for me) of Porsches at the moment, but kinda wish that’d change just so I could interact with David and Jim and sell on PCM.

My opinion that white 996 did all the money not just because of color but it’s stance the H&R springs really made that car pop despite all the wear it had

Al 996 C4S had full leather standard. They were produced from model year 2002-2005, yes when the 997’s came out in model year 2005, they were still selling new 996 C4S and 996 Turbos. I believe the sticker of a 2005 996 C4S was $88k

My first Porsche was a 2002 996 C4S. I bought it in 2006 with 49k miles. Lapis Blue exterior, Metropol Blue interior like this one. I really wanted a used 996 Turbo but they were about $20k more. The 996 C4S is basically a Turbo with the Turbo, it has the wide body, brakes and sport suspension of the Turbo. I used it as a semi daily, take my daughter to school and tracked it every weekend. The C4S had fully leather standard. I sold mine in 2012 (for a 993 Turbo) with 75k miles for $28k. They were just used cars then. The money Lost on the 996 C4S i more than made up with the 993 Turbo doubling in value

Color and photos. What about current market trends and options? What about a C4s with a tiptronic?

Interesting show and focus, I understand why the natural appeal to the manual tranny's, but when it comes to valuation based on various options, transmission type would be right at the top in terms of influencing the sale outcome. Ditto for cabs and targa's. I understand that you were trying (and did!) prove color and quality of pics has a big impact on hammer value, but nothing in comparison to tranny and chassis type - I guess that would be another episode for you to explore. And if you did, I would like to see if you could find some explanations as to why the enthusiast Porsche crowd has essentially shifted it's adoration from Cabs to Coupe over the years, with Targa's somewhere in the middle of the "who's popular" chassis fray.
I must admit that over the ensuing years from when these 996 were introduced, I've slowly become enamored with the 996 C4S. As newer 911's grow in width, I find these "narrow body" cars to have more appeal, and somewhat irrationally, I find myself more attracted to these in their widebody or turbolook iternatons! They just look balanced, subtlely aggressive and statically dynamic. And curiously, the much maligned headlights just don't seem to bother me anymore!

By the way, 996 c4s prices have gone through the roof in Australia. Now selling for $100k - $120k aussie (US $75k-90k)

The white '03 that you talked about first actually has a Metropol Blue interior (not black), according to the description. Granted, Metropol Blue is so dark that it can look black at a glance. When I bought my silver 996 C2 with the Metropol Blue interior, I actually thought the guy was wrong when he told me it was blue. Anyway - How do you think a Metropol Blue interior affects the value as compared to a black interior, on a white or silver car?

Great video, debating on 996 C4S or 993 C4S. Lots of money for the 993, is it worth the cash? I may have missed the boat :-(

wrong, wrong wrong. The first car, the big openings in the front bumper are for the radiators, one on each side. The turbo intakes are in the front of the rear fender, feeding directly into the air cleaner. As such the first car is NOT a turbo.

Spend 500, 1000, 1500 dollars for photos? Please that’s a loss. 1. Get a modern smartphone with a great camera lens 2. Google ‘how to take pics of car’. It’s not rocket science and not worth spending that kind of money. Anyone with time/patience can take good pictures of their car.
