pointless use of a camera in a shop, just spinning around and not focusing on anything. Is this channel just about you really, not vinyl?
@peterharknett4695 Interesting comment there. How exactly can I show the shop fully without moving? Is the channel just about me? Probably not as I'm showing and talking about vinyl.
Yes George, how utterly pointless to film in a shop that you are reviewing!!!? Utter madness lol. For me and other ‘proper’ hunters thank you.
Love London George, and great you’re supporting the local shops, nice one!!!!
@RolloBollo-is5xr Thank you as always young man!!
i love going crate digging with you. i had an alberto y lp ages ago .i dont remember it. good music played in the pub. on that note i picked up the new Cure. its really good. sort of a heavy disintegration. cheers!
@@brucybabyy7355 Thanks as always! I'm tempted by the new Cure. Over social media everywhere and very positive reviews by all.
Madison blues 70 71 paramount blues 72 ultrasonic 74 and record plant 74 is there any others releases ive missed out on

Nous avons pratiquement les mêmes références. Merci de m'en avoir fait découvrir quelques uns. Tes commentaires musicaux sont justes et honnêtes. Bravo pour ce partage. Gilles
£20....😮👏🏻👏🏻
Cheers David I'm still 'buzzing' 🙂
Hi George, lots of incredible finds there. Lovely Davey Graham LP, you rarely see those around! Brilliant buy on Frumpy… never seen that UK sleeve either. Happy hunting! Cheers, Jack
Interesting listening- I too like a bit of Man - not got that one though - I always keep an eye out for them in the wild - underrated band
It turns up from time to time, grab it if you can - a great record!
Incredible bargains George !! I’m sure my jaw hitting the floor wasn’t the only one when you showed MBV’s Isn’t Anything for 3 quid!! 😵💫 Top stuff all round, love that Davy Graham album, great version of Both Sides Now, and jeez Violator for a fiver too! 🙌👏👏👏
Incredible bargains George !! I’m sure my jaw hitting the floor wasn’t the only one when you showed MBV’s Isn’t Anything for 3 quid!! 😵💫 Top stuff all round, especially Violator too! 🙌👏👏👏
Oooo like a bargain vinyl finds - well done getting a deal at Oxfam - they normally overprice everything! Wow - my bloody valentine on Creation is a deal and a half (I got one for a tenner from a record shop who didn’t know much about them as well ) and I’m missing the 7 inch too - never seen ecstasy and wine before. - I’ve got the loveless reissue which was done all analog and very nicely done ✔️ 🎉 violator is a classic too £5! BARGAIN! I remember the Cheques option on eBay too - bit of a nightmare 🤣 that blur - wow ! Great album too - my favourite of theirs - and what a great new find too ( never heard of them mind !) stay well 👍🫡🇬🇧
Thanks for viewing. Still a really excellent price for your copy of MBV there. They do not turn up often.
@ yep 👍 keep up the hunt !! 👍🇬🇧🫡🤘🏴
I think its Victor Peraino's work that makes this so good. Love it.
Indeed it is. I'm still on the look out for his version of Kingdom Come from 1975. Re-issues are proving tricky.
Bargain of the absolute year there George well done! Charity shop decent finds are getting rarer, but £20 for an ebay steal, nice one.
Thank you kind Sir!
Excellent! I have the esoteric 4 cd box.
Omg space captains I'll say no more
Loved seeing these George, superb bargains. My pal has a UK copy of Frumpy but that's the only copy I've seen. I've got the same version for Titus Groan...I paid a bit more than £20 mind 😄. I really like The Elastic Band but find the stereo mix very iffy on some tracks. I'd like to hear a mono version. I'm still after the Davy Graham lp. Funnily enough I got a mint Yes earlier this year for £5 and was delighted as these things rarely happen these days for me. I've had bargains over the 30+ years of buying but rarely in charities. My hit rate was certainly improved last year when I found a Velvett Fogg for £1 in solid vg+ shape. Cheers Nige
@@nigelcampag1290 Wow, Velvett Fogg for a £1? That is amazing! Where from? That is a top want for me. I agree re stereo version of Elastic Band. I've heard multiple negative comments about this. The first track with the left to right swapping? Not good. Thanks for viewing 😀
Some very nice finds, George. Yeah very hard to find a bargain with records in this day and age as everyone now knows the price of everything and when they see it online that’s what they think it goes for. Some however do slip through the cracks, the oxfam shop in Southampton is a good place to find a bargain and if they do put something on the shelf for what it goes for and it doesn’t sell then they start reducing the price. Iv managed to find a few good buys there. Frumpy 🔥 what a find! And at a very low price 👍
@martinsvinyl1985 Thanks as always Martin. Will always pay a visit to Oxfam when in that area. You never know!
Hi George, great video, omg Titus groan what an album to find anyway but when it comes at that price ,I mean 20 quid ,Jesus what a find ,albums on dawn as you know can be very expensive ,I'm jealous lol. All the best Chris..
Thanks as always Chris. I think I'm still in a bit of shock on this one and will forever be puzzled by it. What was the seller thinking? Sometimes lady luck just points in the right direction.
nice! i dont know about your part of the world but here in Canada thrift shops have discovered discogs ......what were 3 dollar lps now go for 20-30.
@@brucybabyy7355 Same here, rarely any huge bargains to be had in the wild. Most of our charity (thrift) shops are full of worthless rubbish. Doesn't stop me hunting still!
Heya George, I was wondering, are you using some sort of noise-reduction setting? As it's biting into your voice and making it hard to hear what you're saying sometimes.
@Mz-ui Hi, no noise reduction. In fact I increased the volume at editing stage. I think perhaps even more volume needed. Genuine thanks for the feedback.
@@georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934 Interesting! Your voice was a bit underwater sounding at times which is usually the result of some automatic noise reduction, ah well, nice finds btw! The MBV one esp, jealous!
After watching this video I came across the Startled Insects album you featured. Just want to say thanks mate, as I love it, like you say it's nothing like your typical late eighties album, played it quite a few times now, so many thanks for pointing me in it's direction.
@@terrymann1341 You are most welcome. I'm very pleased to have spread the word on this great album. Thank you very much for watching. 😀
George, try and seek out Brian Auger Oblivion Express Lp Closer To It,has a cover of inner city blues, originally by marvin gaye, also the killer cut happiness is just around the bend.
@JonathanPeard Got that one! Have not spun forca while though. Will be digging out soon
❤😮
George, would you give it a review?
@JonathanPeard OK, I'll pop on my radar to spin soon and will try and do a short when I do 😀
Great Canadian band.
I played this to death when it came out. I saw the tour just fantastic. It's was like seeimg crimson, talking heads any Roxy music at once!
@brucybabyy7355 Lucky you to see this live!! Your comparisons are bang on here. Fripp style guitar all over it.
Is Judy Driscoll on that one?.
@robison5396 Hi Rob! No she's long gone by now. I believe they teamed up again some years later.
Don't know this one. I like his work with Julie Driscoll. Cheers!
@@brucybabyy7355 This and his other early 70s albums are well worth investigating.
Love your videos George!
@_axelaf Thank you 😊
Hi George ive mentioned squid a few times on my channel.. I’ve seen them live and as you say it’s hard to describe them accurately.. they met while studying at Brighton university.. cheers George 👍
@@robwalkerletthemusicplay Hi Rob, very probably from one of your vids. Well recommend 👌
Hey George. Of all the albums you featured, Grobshnitt is the only one I own. Haven’t played it in yonks, probably for the reason you mentioned. I like Hamill as well, good to know that one is a goodie. Love the grimness of that Sweet Slag. I pick up Man records whenever I run across them, which is rarely. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
I thought i was the only owner of Startled Insects ! Picked it up for £3 in the cheap bins - almost uncategorisable music but you did a good job! Synth, cinematic, jazzy, electro . Really intruiging album - glad someone else has it !
@grahamallen9393 Hi Graham, straight back at you with the Insects. Great to hear I'm not alone. Great bargain at £3, good that it is out in the wild for people to discover.
ahh the mighty grobshnitt! do you have " solar music live?" it is their sgt peppers' love man from start to finish. the lp " maximum darkness " with john cippolina on guitar is great. cheers!
@brucybabyy7355 I am aware of Solar Music, but do not have. Will keep eyes peeled. Maximum Darkness is my favourite live album ever. Absolutely love it!
Excellent video. XTC my favorite band since 1980. 1 Black Sea 2 Drums and Wires 3 English Settlement 4 Skylarking 5 Apple Venus Volume 1 6 Mummer 7 Nonsuch 8 The Big Express. And love the cd bonus tracks, Red Brick Dream, and Blue Overall. 9 Dukes of Stratosphere Chips from the Chocolate Fireball 10 White Music 11 Go To 12 Oranges and Lemons 13 Wasp Star And I concur. NO bad albums to be found.
Thank you very much for sharing. Another one for Black Sea up top. That one certainly seems to be the favourite overall - and that is a good thing 🙂
Saw this video late. Some nice items. I was surprised you did not mention that Julian Jay Savarin was responsible for the Julian's Treatment double LP "A Time Before This" on UK Young Blood 1970. Single disc here in North America, with different Canadian and US covers. Musically superior to the later "solo"1973 release. You previously mentioned seeing it on the wall at Rise Above Records during your second visit. Buk records actually had many releases, predominantly singles. A subsidiary of German BASF group. Best known prog releases probably "Surfin''" by Embryo 1975, "In the Region of Summer Stars " by Enid 1976 and "Alpha Waves" by (German) Locust 1976. Many other third division bands' 45s.
Thanks George. I'm a huge XTC fan too although predictably my favourites are different to yours. Black Sea has always been for me the absolute pinnacle. I'm glad you included Beeswax and I agree the B-sides for the English Settlement could have fitted on the album and in my opinion were actually better than some of the album tracks. I also love the Waxworks album as it is such a perfect summation of their work up to and including English Settlement.I used to have a cassette of Waxworks backed with Beeswax and listened to it constantly.
Thank you David. It would seem that Black Sea seems to be many people's favourites for sure. It's a wonderful album. Glad you have love for Beeswax. I agree that certain tracks could have gone on ES. Bump the three tracks on side 2 up to four and include Blame The Weather for starters.
Lovely entertaining and unpretentious
@@andybetts6584 Thank you 😊
Nice place / personable video.
@@markwatkins8309 Thank you 😊
Nice looking place George, and some very decent finds well done.
Thank you young man!
My home town. Born here in '61 and never left. Great place to live.
Hi, I thought it was a really lovely place and would happily there myself! Thanks for watching 🙂
I used to live not far from there for 20 years (Bramshott). Used to go to Woolworths there to buy records, and the library in Shottermill (Wey Hill) to rent cassettes for 20p and rent videos from Star Video 40 years ago.
Very upmarket! Nice neck of the world - and a decent record shop and pub too 🎉 happy days
Hi George always enjoy these out and about videos. Looks like a decent shop .. you have the stone roses debut £30 is a decent price .. 👍. Thanks for sharing
@robwalkerletthemusicplay Thanks Rob. Very pleased with Stone Roses - something I should have owned for much longer. Better late than never.
Nice scores! Wigwam is Finnish, Jim Pembroke the vocalist was English. Nuclear Nightclub has been described as ''Deep Pop'', not as ''progressive'' perhaps as Being or Fairyport, but it's a great LP.
@trollgage Thanks 😊. Still yet to spin it. I'm certainly interested in getting the earlier albums as well. Not as easy to find if course!
@@georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934 👍 You'll find em, might take a while though, the Finnish pressings in on Love Records are hard to pick up here. Svart Records have done some excellent reissues you might be interested in.
All the usual tired Middle Class crap😂
One of your best videos. Always great to find a new shop
Thank you for your kind words 🙂
G’day George . Thanks for the tour . Great stuff . That Wigwam was a steal ! I see that online for a lot of coin 💰💰Nice score
Thanks. Pleased to find Wigwam and in such great condition. The earlier Finland releases may prove trickier to find!
Hey George! Nice trip and snags. Love that Procol Harum, and the WigWam is great. And the Stone Roses is a must! Cheers
I have a different National Health album and it is excellent. I'm one of a small minority of people that just doesn't get that Stone Roses album. I'm originally British and I love British bands but that album's appeal completely illudes me, every time I give it listen. I did like the documentary on them, though.
To be honest, I probably appreciate the Stone Roses more now than I did years ago. That's the way music is, it can't be for everyone's taste! Can you tell me the name of the documentary and where I where I can find it? I'd be up for watching that.
Nice one George. I've got the embossed Roses, but I was working in HMV at the time. Funnily enough the first few months it was slow seller. Looks a great shop. Looks like I could waste a few hours in the pub too.
Cheers Harris! Be mindful, the first pub I went in on that square was £7.20 a pint 😞. That was the reason I went over the road for the second where it was much cheaper - glad I did as managed to finish the filming as well. That must have been a great time to work in HMV? Was this the Southampton one? I can remember it being in a different location to the one they have now.
@@georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934 yeah 7.20 is where I draw the line. We've got a few lovely pubs in Shirley still hanging in at 4.80. Yeah it was the HMV near Hoglands Park/Debenham. Worked the 88/89. It was an amazing time. Great staff too, you had to be quite knowledgeable I was given a test at the interview!
