In regards to the blue label on CBS that colour was used on soundtracks. So the most common one you'll see about is The Graduate OST on blue. I have some other UK CBS OSTs on blue and even an OST pressed in Israel so the blue wasn't unique to the UK pressings. Cheers Nige

You really have got Kind Of Blue at a bargain price there, those Nimbus copies really go for silly amounts of money, but it is one of the greatest albums of all time. I picked up a copy on Blue vinyl a few years back, that was an RSD limited edition for £15 whilst on holiday in Jersey at a record fair in St Helier. Been in Belper in Derbyshire today and picked up three albums I'm pleased with, and all in really good condition. A Beatles album of their Hamburg set at the Star Club, a Greatest Hits of Level 42 and Too Rye Ay by Dexy's Midnight Runners. It's funny always loved Dexy's but for some reason never got this album on vinyl until today, got it on cassette and CD. Enjoy those records George and have a great Bank Holiday Weekend....

@terrymann1341 Thank you Terry. Nice to hear some decent pickups for yourself there. Love Dexys, have not been listening to them long. Too Rye Ay is excellent. That Nimbus KOB was a great pick up. I can't believe it was there after leaving behind at another location 2 months back. An absolute steal and a highly rated pressing it would seem.

I can remember the Nimbus album offer. Very limited offer - £5 each, only one copy of each could be had, and a maximum of three albums. Got Pink Floyd Wish you were here, Eagles Desperado and Elvis Costello Blood and Chocolate. They do sound very good. Still have the Floyd and Eagles albums. Didn't like the Costello, so offloaded it a while ago. The Miles album is a steal and kinda sad I wasn't a jazz person all those years ago...

All male English blues band back then, although Christine Perfect (McVie) was a session musician for them and unofficial member of the band at that time. "Oh Well" was one of their big hits during that time and great live. Bob Welsh wrote two of their biggest hits (Hypnotized & Sentimental Lady).

Many people think that Iron Maiden's best era ended with "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" and I agree, but to me, their absolute peak is "Powerslave". Although "Somewhere in Time" and SSOASS are great albums as well, to me they sound like a band that started to run out of steam and tried (successfully) to explore new territories to compensate for that. Like if they had a stock of ideas that ran out with "Powerslave" and had to start looking for new stuff from "Somewhere in Time" on, and it worked fine until the following album. But they truly 100% top shape ended with "Powerslave" in my opinion.

Maiden had a number one with Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter, clever marketing by releasing a single just after Christmas with little or no competition. Main reason for their singles success was the multi formats they always released which included some great limited editions. Big fans and collectors would invariably buy all formats hiking up the sales numbers.

G’day George . Apparently Carl Barnwell from Southern Comfort wrote ‘April Lady’ . He moved to England after 1969 but didn’t get a copyright for it till June 1971.He shopped the song to publishers . Mercury Records commissioned Smile to record the song in April 1969 . The song was credited to Stanley Lucas ( this may well have been a alias of Barnwell) 😎👌🇦🇺

Thank you very much. I would like to comment regarding the contributions and accolades given to Bob Welch. Some believe Bob was the bridge from the bluesy Peter Green time period to the pop sound with Nicks and Buckingham. Some also believe Welch was responsible for saving FM. I respectively disagree regarding both. Danny Kirwan's contributions on the Kiln House, Future Games, and Bare Trees LPs, including the single numbers Dragonfly, Purple Dancer, and Trinity transformed the sound of early Fleetwood Mac. Perhaps the bridge wasn't fully built by Kirwan, but certainly most of it was. Regarding Bob saving FM, let me state this. Bob wasn't around when Peter left. Bob wasn't around when Jeremy quit. Bob wasn't in the studio for half of the songs from the "Future Games" LP. Bob was documented saying he was trying to get Mick to fire Kirwan shortly after joining the band. He was very uncomfortable being around Danny and felt it was messing with his head too much. Bob was the man Danny had an argument with backstage when Kirwan refused to play. Bob finally was rid of Danny and becomes the main musician in the band. Subsequently, Fleetwood Mac bombs with their first LP ( Penguin) post Danny Kirwan. Bob quits a year and a half later. Many early FM fans stopped caring after Danny was sacked. Bob Welch getting credit for saving FM is a travesty and is insulting to a man who was the true shining star post Peter Green.

I love to read the fan comments. The ones that say the Peter Green era was great and the later version sucks. Or those that love the era discussed here and dislike the Buckingham Nicks era. Guys - bands change and develop. Very few bands stay the same (thankfully). I love all the lineups and can appreciate the differences. Another era rarely mentioned is the complete change in the mid 90's when Dave Mason and Bekka Bramlett (Bonnie's daughter) joined to keep the band going. Here they went back to the blues era. I think there are very few videos of these live performances. Another sidelight which shows Mick's love of the blues was the side performances of the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band (with Ricky Vito). They are really good and Mick is in his element. Thanks for the video.

The 1969 to 1974 CD box set with extra tracks is great if you only know the Rumours line up. Danny Kirwan released three solo LPS in the seventy's, but they were never commercially successful as he refused to tour in support or promote them. There is also a CD called Ram Jam City which are the demo's of Second Chapter all well worth a listen. I am not sure who owns the publishing rights to Danny's songs, but they should be re-released as a box set with any unreleased songs that maybe in the vaults as a tribute to his talent

Bob's wife Wendy fought for his induction until her death. Hypnotized got heavy air play till the Rumors album came out then the Radio Stations practically panned the non-Rumors line up. Hypnotized and Green Manalishi are two of their best songs and they never get air play. Peter Green era songs were panned too after Rumors. And I think the common denominator with the guitarist problems is Mic Fleetwood.

Greetings from New Hampshire, yep another Hampshire. Thanks for making this video about a tragically ignored era of Fleetwood Mac. My favorite era of Fleetwood Mac are these ‘Wilderness Years’, the spacey years, the experimental years, with ‘Future Games’ being my all time favorite FM album. Bob Welch was an important piece of all of it, and he not being mentioned at the RnRHoF dog and pony show induction was definitely a travesty, I could not agree with you more on that conclusion. Thanks again for providing this era some timeline history and recommendations to the uninitiated out there. 🎶🎵 My top track from the era: ‘Sands Of Time’. 😎

Brilliant idea for a video! However, you MUST check out the two Dio/ Sabbath albums of the early 80's, they're absolute genius. Otherwise great stuff, and totally agree you with Roxy, I don't even like "Siren", but the first four are masterpieces. And Maiden, after "Somewhere in Time" Other bands: Jethro Tull - up to and including "Stormwatch". After that, a bit too electronic and all that 80's bollocks. Queen - Up to and including "The Game". After that, horrible funk, sterile ballads and over polished rock. And they never got it back. Zeppelin - after "Physical Graffiti", they ran out of ideas. "Presence" sounds like they did it out of some sort of contractual obligation. Really dull, repetitive and forgettable. Rolling Stones - bleeding obvious. After "Exile..." they gradually then rapidly hit the bottom, just became a live act. Judas Priest - in a minority here, but the first four albums, which are magnificent, then after that they lost their progginess. Others: Uriah Heep, Aerosmith (70's only) Genesis, Marillion, Status Quo(up to Quo Live) UFO ( Schenker era genius), Whitesnake, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Little Feat (Lowell George era), Rush (all pre- Signals are amazing), King Crimson (nothing after "Red"), Deep Purple, Metallica ( "Load" is massively underrated, after that uninspired and repetitive) Scorpions (up to "Love at First Sting") Fairport Convention (Richard Thompson early years). Most of the above floundered when the 80's reared it's synthetic head, and they never recovered. They just faded into specialised taste or became massive tour acts

I agree with your takes. I had all of these records. I still enjoy Bare Trees and Future Games (and the others 70-74). If you took a few songs from each four/five year periods you could argue it's not the same band, which is partly true. I did have the Buckingham Nicks "titty" album....eh. Welch tried a harder edge with the band Paris....eh. Danny Kirwin put out a solo album that sounded (to me) like English pub music....eh. this yank prefers the '67-'74 period, the later stuff too slick, too polished, over produced and pretentious.....leave it to American record producers greed and influences to screw it up. Thanks, appreciated.

Back in the old days I found new music through Andy Kershaw, Annie Nightingale and John Peel, but you had to go out on a limb and buy the album in the end so every buying decision you made counted for better or worse, so I like to keep that vibe going now and listen to the record, no streaming. I resort to streaming sometimes when the record is just too expensive for me to get a ‘real’ one, same as buying reissues…I like the thought of having a record that someone once went out and excitedly bought when the album was released.

I'm very much the same as yourself. It's kind of 'all I've known', as started doing this before streaming was a thing. Have just carried on whilst technology changed around me!! It really is the best way of discovery isn't it.

Rush. I only listen up to Power Windows. I don’t know why really…the nostalgia is strong with early albums? On the other hand, just to be controversial with someone like Neil Young I will defend Landing on water, Trans, Old Ways, Everybody’s Rockin just because I like them and I bought them on release, unlike things like After the Gold Rush.

Neil is an interesting one to be honest, as he seems to keep bouncing back. I'm pleased to hear some love for Trans, as I adore that record - great stuff! I got hold of Freedom recently which I'm also enjoying. Yet to get Landing on Water, but have not ruled it out.

I think some people might say Landing On Water Is his worst record, but I remember being excited that there was a new Neil Young record released that I could actually go out and buy when it was released. Yes - you are right about him bouncing back! He has kept himself relevant and interesting for years and years. Loving your videos, by the way…getting lots of ideas for records I’ve never investigated before…and affirmation for favourites…just watched your XTC video. Loved it. XTC are way out my favourite band ever and in contrast to this video I think they did some of their best work in Apple Venus.
