I love this podcast and all 4 are necessary for it to work as well as it does. What a pleasure!
Don’t interrupt each other. It sucks for the listener. Make your points and then let the next person speak. We can make up our own minds who was right on what, talking each over each other makes that harder.
the spicyest episode ever😂
You referring to Kory's background art ;) I am waiting for the 'explicit' stamp to be put on the episode lol
Jordon, Pierre recently announced a 7 point border plan , today Raquel Dancho spoke about "our plan to stop the flow of drugs across our borders, give dealers serious prison time, and ensure our loved ones get the care they need to come home drug-free." Lots of policies being announced but keep saying there are none.
Best podcast in canada
Good to see people fight yet, pull together, later
Phew, that was quite the episode. Vibes of all kinds !
comments from the Trudeau-Trump dinner: “Tonight, we’re getting new details about that Trump-Trudeau dinner from two people who were at the table. We are told that when JustinTrudeau
told President-elect Trump that new tariffs would kill the Canadian economy, Trump joked to him that if Canada can’t survive without ripping off the U.S. to the tune of $100bn a year then maybe Canada should become the 51st state and Trudeau could become its governor!”.... I'm pretty sure the only part of Canada that Trump would be interested in annexing would be Alberta. Vive L'Alberta Libre
Jordon, it's been 10 years without a Conservative government. We have a problem at the border.
What is the problem at the border? Any evidence?
She didn't say the conservatives are responsible for the problem, she responded directly to Kory's point that these agencies are thousands of agents short. That is true, but Kory worked at the top levels of a government that cut 1000+ positions in the exact agencies he's citing.
Conservatives and context are like oil and water.
@@Ryand199410 years ago when there were no problems at the border.
@@glowlend1439The "welcome to Canada" open border? Look around you. Volunteer at a foodbank, visit a tent city.
@@Ryand1994 But that was ten years ago so now it's Trudeau's fault that Harper fired a bunch of border security!!
At least that's what OP thinks.
Love all the different perspectives. Thank you!
Blame the border issues on the party that hasn't been in power for over 9 years - that's rich!
"let me finish". hilarious, considering that Kory gets cut off and interrupted non-stop every week.
Do you live in some alternate universe where Kory doesn’t also interrupt people every week?
This episode got better over time…sort of like a nicer vintage of red wine or spirits.
You’ve got to be off your rocker to think that the Manitoba NDP are good stewards of resources. The last time they were in power, they ran $1-2 billion deficits for multiple years, and that’s on a provincial budget that only totals $20 billion overall. Now that they’re back, they’re already running a big deficit in their first year after the PCs had nearly eliminated it entirely
Gonna put a tariff on Scott
Great episode!!
Wow you guys were not lucky with your timing. I just heard about how Trump told Trudeau at a table of very powerful dinner guest that maybe he could become the governor of the 51st state if Canada's economy gets destroyed, and then I hear Scott Reid say Trudeau's trip to Mar-a-Lago was a "marvelous coup".
This is were our 'first post national state' has brought us. Trump is getting his kicks out of annexing Canada. This was not your best episode. Too much name calling and interrupting.
Bailed out on this one. Kory showing us the idiocy of today's federal Conservatives (spoiler alert... they aren't).
Jordan killed it in this pod! Hell in a handbasket!
19:30 Bingo! Trump needs to raise more revenue to deal with their deficit. It is getting that extra money out of the American consumer in the form of a "sales tax" that will be forced upon the American consumer on everything from Canada, Mexico, and to a lesser extent China. I have read forecasts that Trump needs to raise this extra revenue for about two years. We are in for some very rough sledding.
Kory getting haughty about being interrupted? Oh, the irony!
I was thinking the same. He interrupted Scott (and Jordan) a couple of times, but when he's talking, he demands quiet on the set!
Who interrupted who first?🙄
Jordan and Scott interrupted him multiple times before he got pissy and started doing it back.
Kory keeps interrupting Scott then gets mad because Scott answers back 😆Poor form Kory, you left bad vibes in this episode.
A lower GDP and lower standard of living results in lower emissions which is THE #1 goal of this gov't. Never forget that.
Lots of talk about Trump, nothing about the behind the scene influencers whispering in Trump's to promote their own idealogical agendas.
You would get a lot more views if you made a custom thumbnail for every single episode
The PM is a joke. He looks pathetic even this panel alludes to it. Read the room Justin. As for Freeland. The only person I’ve ever heard give Her a compliment is Tom Mulclair which nobody actually takes seriously.
Dumpster fire episode
Who peed in Jordan and Corey’s cornflakes? Grow up!!
Trump.
They're afraid, and not unreasonably.
Freeland is not a favourite of Trump from the last trade negotiations
Jordan lives in an alternate universe at times. When did Pierre side with Trump? He called the tariffs “unjustified” and said he would help pass border legislation if Trudeau came up with a plan.
This desperate attempt to link Pierre to Trump is getting pathetic.
It's a serious moment, but people like Jordan are still more concerned about using sufficiently anti-Trump rhetoric publicly, rather than sucking it up and appeasing the guy because he holds our economic interests in the palm of his hand, even if he is a huge jerk.
Hey guys. Trumps tariff is perhaps calculated on a $0.68 Canadian dollar. It will likely cause a retaliatory tariff. Our economy is already weak. So Trump expects our economy will slow. Fifty cent US dollars plus $025 works for them. 😂Lol
Wow, Jordon can say some stupid stuff.
Yes it is the US' responsibility to defend their own border, ultimately. Would she like them to start tightening up that border or should we maybe deal with some of our own bullshit so we can continue to have a relaively open border with the most dynamic economy in the world?
False dichotomy. Trump's policy announcements have little relevance to facts and reality, and so Canadian policies have little influence or control over how much the U.S. tightens or not its borders.
"Just deal with our own bullshit" sounds like a great idea right until you consider that Trump has no incentive to not keep bringing back the tariff threat on countless issues over and over again, including with what will inevitably include unhinged demands.
Kory, it's getting painful listening to you. Your comments are so predictable they are no longer interesting or insightful, just rude.
Divide and conquer
Trudeau goes to Mara Lago Trump tells him who's Boss. And keep your fuckin nose out of my Peace place for Ukraine.
You guys seriously call Ford a conservative? He’s the reddest conservative I’ve ever seen. And Pierre has been calling for immigration control and addressing the drug crisis long before Trump was elected. Nice try guys, swing and a miss.
LOL Kory is such a baby.
The "rational response" to the tariffs is to collaborate with Mexico and target the 5 closest states for the next senate election in two years, and the dozen closest Congress races. Then take the cost of the total tariff we pay and force it onto those states like Maine and Alaska (which also have smaller economies).
Those states will be massively hit. Maine exports 1.4 billion to Canada, more than 10 times more than the next export market which is China. That's Senator Susan Collins. Alaska has a smaller economy and Canada is the fifth largest export market. That's Senator Sullivan. Montana's #1 market is Canada with $1 billion in exports, which is 45% of their exports. 30% of Iowa's exports are to Canada, which is the most of any nation. Instead of blanket tariffs, or going after party leaders, go after vulnerable incumbents.
If Trump loses the Senate, he loses his ability to appoint Supreme Court justices and judges at the other levels of courts, and that's the leverage we have. The tariffs are coming, so let's get ready to hit selectively and work together to maximize the impact.
Kory was insufferable this episode.
Yeah, being right is "insufferable "
@PoliticalJunkieca he wasn't right tho. He kept weaseling and couldn't answer the question while complaining about being interrupted, despite interrupting everyone else.
There is a solution to tariffs. Join some of the EU countries that in response to Trump's tarrifs, now want to join BRICs. It would be short term pain for long term gain. Trump responded to de dollarization by threatening 100% tariffs for any country, including current BRIC members like China and India who settle international trade in any currency other than the US dollar, and will respond with the full force of the USA against such threats against its hegemony.
Dumb idea for European countries and completely braindead for Canada
Vibecession is a real and useful term. It isn't out of touch or patronizing, it is an accurate way to describe current economic trends. If a conservative said "vibecession" then most pundits would find it perfectly acceptable.
Lol it’s definitely patronizing. Imagine not paying your rent or being able to feed your kids and politicians just tell you it’s a vibe.
@smugdug vibecession doesn't mean that there isn't a recession or economic stress. There is a lot of economic hardship currently. The term is meant to point out how that is occurring despite the low inflation. Vibecession is articulating the cause of that downturn. People are feeling like the economy is poor and inadvertently making it worse like a self fulfilling prophecy. Read anything by Kyla Scanlon to understand it more.
@ Typical Liberal “Everything is fine but you small people are just too stupid to realize how great us Liberals have made things.”
No one is buying it.
Wow, just wow. Hope your not a Financial Advisor.
@@glowlend1439No, I've heard it used to indicate that the economy is great and that the feeling of malaise is just low-information voters who think they're fine but that other people are in bad shape.
“There is a disconnect between the really positive economic news, the fact that the Canadian economy does appear set for a soft landing - that’s good news - but Canadians aren’t feeling it and that is shaping their economic behaviour in ways that are not great for the Canadian economy,” - Freeland
Kory is really quite good here. Typically is. Jordan ok...for an NDP. Scott Reid is a lunatic. Honestly, just bonkers And Herle not too far behind.
