    The AG only sifted through 50% of SDTC contracts at random. Of that randomly selected 50% over 80% had conflicts of interest. Presumably the same amount of conflicts of interest would be found in the other 50% of the SDTC contracts. This would approach 800 million inappropriately placed funds! In my opinion, unaccountability is our governments largest problem and the RCMP has the unfortunate history of letting these things slide (failure to ask for SNC warrant, Nova scotia shooting ect). The move may be unprecedented and partisan, but it is better than the alternative of letting yet another scandal go unpunished and perhaps prompted the RCMP to do something (via the normal way). What Minister Gould is talking about this being the first step leading to a police state is beyond hyperbole.

      Yes. Now We have much more higher numbers in people going to food bank . We din’t have 2 million people going to food bank during Harper years. We didn’t have nearly 10000 homeless camps in Canada during Harper years. Those kind of “ improved numbers” keep going up and up. After next election this minister deserved to be on permanent retirement with many of her liberal colleagues in the cabinet and the caucus. Hopefully their retirement date would come soon.

Thank goodness, Pierre will hopefully be the next Prime Minister. I’ve been wishing for years that we had Harper back. And I am guilty of voting for Trudeau 2015. But then I grew up.

    Oh my god, take the L on the gun issue. I don't shoot semi autos, I don't want handguns but the way target shooters and hunters have been treated under this Liberal government has been abysmal. We follow the laws, we fund the majority of conservation efforts and yet we are treated as an enemy within. I otherwise quite like Gould and felt bad for her getting rolled on election reform but this one part struck me badly.

People don’t like what this country has become. David, i am a loyal fan of the show, and in general, find you fairly impartial given your long Liberal pedigree. I must say, however, that i am disappointed with your lack of pushback against Ms. Gould's many unfounded accusations against Pierre. For example, "How, specifically, is Poilievre more 'extreme' than Harper?". Or, " you say he'll slash all these programs upon which Canadians depend. What is your evidence, from his record or his statements, that would justify such a drastic statement"? Unfortunately, Ms.Gould simply rehashed the same unsubstantiated allegations that Trudeau makes.
    Also, she criticized Pierre's response that he will give women a right to choose to buy a house wgen Trudeau asked him if he was pro-choice. Sure, Pierre's answer wasn't in response to abortion, but Trudeau's question about abortion was completely irrelevant to Pierre's previous question put to him. That kind of blatant hypocrisy by Gould should've been called out. Also, you correctly challenged her on the carbon tax, but not on the preachy wokeness of her government which has alienated a lot of voters.

    • @stratford374
      @stratford374 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@terryomalley1974 Poilievre refuses to respond when, on the rare occasion he actually takes questions, he is asked what he would cut. So you asking someone to point to a statement about where he's specific is kind of impossible because he doesn't take questions and won't say what he would do.
      He's planning for austerity and we won't know what his plans are until he becomes PM. Because once people see what he'll cut he's going to have problems. Is he going to raise the retirement age, like Harper did, to cut back on old age benefits? Is he going to gut pharma and dental care? Daycare?
      That being said I agree with you that it would've been nice to see a little more push backs from Herle, but I also don't expect him to be a hard hitting journalist. Great guy, but he's no Vassy.
      The abortion question is a tried and true Liberal line that's unsurprising for them to bring out. Poilievre says he's pro choice, and I believe him, but there is a not insignificant percentage of his party that is anti-abortion. Now I would love criticize Trudeau because if he's so worried about it they could also pass legislation to protect that right, since we're in a similar state as the USA in that abortion isn't codified. So, I think it's a criticism that falls flat because in the truest Liberal fashion, they're outraged nothing is being done while they're the ones in power.
      As a quick point of comparison for Poilievre and Harper. I would somewhat agree with Poilievre being more extreme in terms of who he panders too. I was not a fan of Harper but he was a brilliant politician and he would not have entertained the Convoy crowd or dog whistled to conspiracy theories to the WEF. And I honestly think that's not a good move, longterm. I think he played it up to win the leadership and to get back the support they lost to the PPC and it'll come back to bite him if he doesn't catered to them like Danielle Smith does.
      I don't think Poilievre is some kind of extremist or threat to our country but I think he's playing with fire by entertaining some of the more extreme elements. Though, either way, we can fully expect the Liberals to frame him as such. They did the same with O'Toole and he's pretty milquetoast.

    • @terryomalley1974
      @terryomalley1974 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stratford374 Very good analysis. The truth of the matter, however, is that the Liberals are just putting words in Pierre's mouth because he hasn't said what he'll cut, and he's under no obligation to until the writ is dropped. Just like they do during QP, the Libs mistakenly think that the leader of the opposition is the one who has to answer questions rather than the government. I hear you about Herle and agree that he's a good guy, but I still think he could have held her feet to the fire because Gould was playing very fast & loose with the facts.
