I think it depends. I see your point. These movies were made for the big cinema. I love marvel but I’ll only watch the 3D copies I have like I did at the cinema. I essentially built a cinema to get that experience. DIY screen wall to wall using a 3D projector (175” 16:9) with full surround. These superhero action movies are fantastic on the big screen in 3D with pounding sound. I’ve been collecting the 3D blurays for years, all 3D movies not just marvel. It’s not anywhere near the same watching the 2D copy of a marvel film on a regular TV with tv speakers or a sound bar. My favourite film franchise (Marvel phases 1-3) of all time. I rewatch Marvel phase 1-3 every year.

Great video Jamie . I agree don’t do it for money . The money does come but you won’t quit your day job overnight . I’ve been on TH-cam 4 yrs. Started my 4th channel in Sept 2024. Obviously the niche account I’m using at the moment. You have to niche down and if you want to share another niche it’s better to start another channel. I kept my Enthusiast brand in all my channels. Hence my followers follow me from niche to niche. I bbq on Weber , I game on game on ps5 and I clean . I earn more from sponsorship videos and amazon links than I have off 4milloin views across my other enthusiast channels. At the end of the day remember views leave clues . Thanks for the shout out too . We’ll have to catch up once my new house built .you can give me some advice on storage in dedicated theatre room . 👍👍

if im buying new, i get 4k, if i cant find it in 4k i am getting blu ray, but i am NOT replacing my blu rays for a newer 4k, simple as that

I prefer to watch ANY older movie on VHS. Even if it’s from 2005… if it’s on VHS, I want it.

Joel is a top bloke and getting his arcade machines taken out by a direct lightning strike was highly unfortunate and total heartbreaking, he had a proper industrial consumer unit too to protect them but they aren't designed to cope with that sort of surge. There was there talk of a very big offer for his collection, can't fault him if he accepted it!

I'm up for an 8k format; however, I would like the 4k to be more popular. I think we need blockbuster back; we need a healthy rental market.

Tbh I thought the ladder match was a snooze fest at first, but it eventually picked up and when it did, it was amazing. I suppose I’m biased though because imo, nothing will beat the hell in the cell matches with Michaels and Foley.

I've found myself grinding trophies and its Ruining my experience i think. It's so stupid. Trophies do not matter but I'm obsessed now. I should let the game take me on a journey. I'm trying to Google missable trophies. Get those and then just enjoy the play through. Other times I think it's a waste of time and I should get the trophies as I go and now it's changed from a game to have fun with to a chore. Really struggling enjoying gaming sometimes. Real life problems I know lol

The General entertainment channels of Foxtel were at their peak in the first 5 to 10 Years of Operation Now all the Good Content has been so whittled away by other options Free Digital Channels and Free Ad supported streaming channels that i see no value Left in Binge / Foxtel anymore.

Most I have is 4k, replace blu-ray and dvd when possible.

I really enjoyed squid game 2 so far , not a fan of dubbed content. But this series is pretty good . Netflix being the only streaming service I pay for now .

All that rambling. I think 4k HDR Looks pretty cool, so i'll buy it If the price is OK. What else is there to say?

Like you mention, there's just such an overwhelming amount of content we can choose from to watch now that a lot of times you just end up not watching anything.

It's the cost of streaming services when you put all of them together. Plus, cable u can DVR, (Digital Video Recorder),a program from your tv using a DVR receiver. I missed those days when u could record a live program on a device. Now you can't because streaming services doesn't allow you to record content. Then when u want to go back in a year or 2 years to re watch the same content again, u found out streaming services deleted it. Now that sucks!

Back in my day Basic Cable had 60 channels 3-62 I could tell you what network was on what channel to this day. I remember what shows were on at what time and i loved it back then. Although it's wierd i like stumbling across a movie on tv that is half way through and watching it. Also the live community aspect to it knowing your not the only watching it.

I had Sky Tv in Uk , I loved Sky / cable tv . I used to set my dvr to record what I wanted to watch . The only downer in Uk was when it snowed I had to sweep off the satellite dish or I would loose signal .

I see people building their own tv channels with programming from their childhood. Probnotstech has a great setup. One guy also programmed a schedule by coding his own software to slot in adds and approximate movies for different times of the day and even digitised old tapes to get local tv station promo’s. That’s retro nostalgia goodness!

I like the way pluto tv does it, each channel is a different franchise.they have a doctor who classic channel and a 007 channel for example.They even have a channel for Mister Rogers neighborhood.

A lot of the streaming services do have a live tv option with channels, idk why netflix hasn't added this yet, only annoying thing is a lot of the channels are like one thing so it will be like the transformers channel and it will only play transformers content 24/7, but there are some good channels in there that play a variety of content, especially since they are free on most of the apps like tubi and pluto

Cable hasn’t gone anywhere in the UK it’s still the main way to watch tv . We pay £150 a year for a tv licence plus around £800 a year for Sky tv which is basically cable

One good thing about cable was being exposed to shows you'd never watch. But streaming is superior. Growing up, my parents wouldn't pay for cable, and I missed out on shows. Whereas now, I can sign up for a streaming service online without having to sign a contract. I pay a fraction of the price of cable for the shows I want to watch, and I can cancel or switch to another streaming service anytime.

Great video, I have built a collection I am pretty proud of that is probably 90% 2nd hand. Majority from Cash Converters (for the blu rays) and Savers (for DVDs) , and everything you said is so true. I wanted to ask you though, were your shelves custom built? or did you purchase them form a place? I got a few of mine off Bunnings Marketplace which are pretty good but I need to buy at least 5 more now, and wondering if custom built was the way to go. 4k unfortunately is too expensive. I've been buying 4k discs for only the movies I really want the best of the best but the majority of my collection will always be 1080 bluray, and i let my 4k bluray player or TV to upscale it.

I absolutely love physical media and I love my blu-rays and DVDs. I don't have a 4K player but I don't think I'm going to get one as I cannot really tell the difference when I watch 4K media on TH-cam on my 4K tv, it almost looks worse than Blu-ray. The hue is never correct when I watch 4K through TH-cam on my 4K TV

You do not have the slightest idea about the gaming industry or its consumer market. Just sound like a big kid with a fantasy, rambling on without any knowledge or practical sense of how companies work.

I'm here to just to hear if I should start collecting DVDs after 15 years again or not, but this dude builds his argument too slowly for me :( I do apreciate the effort though

Can you speak about your perspective on pc gaming and if that is something you’d ever think about getting into. Also if you ever had Xbox or only PlayStation. Do you have ps+ or gamepass? I got both and are great value for money I think. I have over 900 blu rays that I why I found your channel. I haven’t got into 4k, it is like funko pops… once I start it’s too addictive. The moral of the story is unless you have expendable income and aren’t in debt why would you commit to buying physical media when the players are $300-$1000 and new movies are $25+ when you can just stream? If the players were affordable and 4k discs were promoted more/sold in stores(the limited that remain) then MAYBE physical media would stand a chance and inch a little closer to what it used to be. I’m not in any debt and have some expendable income so I have a nice Sony OLED and soundbar and for me maximizing a viewing experience means having as good of sound and picture as I can afford. The thing is the vast majority of consumers don’t care and/or cannot afford it when the alternative of streaming is not far off in terms of quality. Hell people don’t even go to the movies as much anymore, good luck getting them to dish out cash on a 4k player and buy new movies at full price since physical renting is basically dead.

I see a world coming soon where maybe ALL major studios pull out of physical media but...the boutique labels will carry on. Sony themselves may not release something like Karate Kid on disc but Arrow, Shout, BFI, Criterion, Kino, Studio Canal, Vinegar Syndrome, Umbrella or several others will license out the movie to release it. The physical media market much like the vinyl market is going to be made for collectors and not the mainstream. The mainstream has moved on but the collectors market will always exist and be profitable. Prices might have to go up a bit to make it profitable but I think it will always be there.

Yes! gaming my favourite. Tony Hawk Pro Skater for PlayStation is one of the games that wowed me as a kid, only a few certain games do. do you have a small CRT, I think it’d be a nice display in the background of your videos. I’m a huge fan of CRT TVs for gaming.
