Though I did my best to include radio calls from Browns announcers Nev Chandler (1985-1993) and Jim Donovan (1999-present), I could not find audio for pre-1985 clips. Rest in peace 🙏 😢
I didn't get to see this game, so watching these highlights was great 26 years later.
The definition of frustration
The very first clip (Kosar-Ozzie) I wonder if that crowd volume was due to people who were Cane fans, but not Dolphins fans. 🤷🏼
The SIDEARM SLINGER -scrambled like he was on ice skates -lacked a powerful arm -he could read D’s as well as any QB I’ve ever seen in my 45 years of watching NCAA & NFL. -He could punish a blitzing D like no other. -Extremely accurate passer once threw 308 passes without an INT
The reason i plsyed as Cleveland on madden back then
I hate Belichoke he destroyed that team Slaughter Brennan Langhorn Bernie ALL GONE when he got there Art Model is a POS he fired Paul Brown Fired Marty Stuff like that is why Cleveland will never win a Championship You can't do what he did to 33 level Masons and expect to win anything
He was the best quarterback we had since the mid 50s Brian Sipe would be another the last 20 something years have been a daymare for this team can't get it right ever since Modell moved this team
There is definitely one that I would add if I could find the video, and that is one of the most underrated Browns of all time, Greg Pruitt.
What a great couple years. Unfortunately never to be seen again.
Good Memories!!!!
As someone who broke their ankle not long ago, I saw this happen right in front of me at the game and it was horrible to see.
A Browns WR today might want to wear #86. It seemed the players who wore that number were always very good starting with Dante Lavelli.
Brennan is one of my all time favorites. If we had him today the Browns would be a far better team.
Loved it when bernie confessed browns painted grass green for playoff games
I guess bernie autographed browns jersey
And then art model gave our super bowl to people of baltimore in 2000
I heard bernie finally got to play in a superbowl in 1994 or 1995 for dallas
He doesnt look right wearing that ugly dolfins uniform
They're going to have to pop it back, and that's going to hurt.
That looks almost likes Prescott’s injury which was a broken ankle. I think this is a season ender.
Saw that shit live. No bueno
Damn
What an awesome Jim Donovan memory.
I’m just commenting because I’m comment #51.
2:05 Ryan Clark just brought this up on NFL Live, Josh Cribbs torching them with the wildcat. I’m a Steelers fan but had to come and check this out. Cribbs was a beast.
I remember all these, I miss Josh Cribbs. You'd think they would just stop kicking to him lol. That 2007 game in pittsburgh (the 'divet cam' game) I think they just started squibbing it super short so they got the ball at like the 40 every drive after. He was just so goddamn fun. Devin Hester was fast and could house it with one missed tackle... but Cribbs was powerful, elusive, had insane vision, and was consistent. Former college QB who didn't get drafted, lied when they asked if he'd played receiver before at a tryout, and then lied when asked if he'd returned punts or kicks before in training camp lol. First chance he got in the preseason, he returned a kickoff 99 yards against the Lions for a touchdown. The rest was history. He still has a podcast if you're interested (browns coverage though).

RIP TO THE ABSOLUTE GOAT
RIP Jim. His passion was clear
RIP Jim Donovan. Absolute legend. We'll a big one for ya one of these days...
@@DanIsHuman We lost a great man. God bless the Donovan family
@4:09 unreal
Kosar to Newsome. The days we remember as much as the Jim Brown era.... Gone forever
Love the 1986 Ice Cube McNeil 80 yarder in the Dawg Pound against the Lions! I remember Doug Deiken on the radio call saying “T W A”, meaning taking it coast to coast on Trans World Airlines. After he scored and turned towards the Browns sideline special teams assistant coach Bill Cowher was the first one to slap him five!
I’m from Cleveland Ohio, & I’m now 49 years of age. I WILL NEVER FORGET THESE DAYS, they meant the world to me. God Bless U all. 🙏🏿
O yea, one other thing, we share birthdays! November 25th!
Couldn't stand Kosar.
I guess, at this point, I need to express how thankful I am for having gotten to see a REAL QB. It's been a shit show in Cleveland ever since since the day they let Bernie go. Love ya BK! Nothing but the best!
I forgot how freaking fast Webster Slaughter was. As much as I enjoy the deep ball, I'm interested in finding video of an entire drive, from start to finish. In my memory, The Browns historically a running team, would destroy defenses with pounding runs from Mack and Byner, and with these crazy little dump passes over the middle, which drove defenses absolutely nuts. THEN, Bernie would fake that, and dump one of those deep balls (off of his back foot, or while back peddling) over the heads of the defense, who kept bunching up to stop those crazy Bernie Kosar dump passes over the middle. That's how I remember it. I want to see some video...
Great man. Great player. Cleveland's Favorite Son.
Put a fork in the Bears 🐻 their done 😂
My Browns never quite got over the hump but that period of my childhood was awesome thanks in part to Bernie, who was from my hometown to boot. I’m glad he at least got his ring with the cowboys a little later. Go browns!
The great Gary Collins wore #86 and they never retired it. Instead, they waited for the second coming of Gary Collins...Brian Brennan!
So pathetic how in the pocket of the Steelers the whole NFL is. Bitching and whining about a holding penalty that never happened and desperately trying to convince viewers that Cribbs didn’t earn that return. So pathetic. The Steelers and their fans are just the worst.
We were better than Denver all day long twice!
When I used to play Madden 11 on the Wii, I would go out of my way to trade for this guy. Dude was an absolute cheat code in that game.
You know what is so crazy about the drama over Modell moving the Browns to Baltimore? When the expansion Browns franchise was put up for bid by the NFL trust account in 1998, it was Al Lerner who won the bid and purchased the team. He was a 49% shareholder of the original Browns with Art Model from 1991-95. He recruited two people to be immediately part of building the new franchise - former 49ers director of player personnel Carmen Policy, and a certain #19 quarterback. Yes, for the first few months after Lerner purchased the expansion Browns in September of 1998, Bernie was actually with Lerner and Policy. Want to know something even more bonkers? Bernie SERIOUSLY suggested that Lerner hire Bill Belichick for the expansion Browns head coach and GM for the 1999 season. By 1998 Bernie and Bill had sat down with each other, cleared the air, and were now at least able to talk to each other. At the time Bill was def. coordinator for the Jets under Parcells. Bernie knew Bill was intelligent and could build a winner, in actuality he was doing it in Cleveland - the team he took over in 1991 had gone 3-13 in 1990, then for the 1994 season they were 11-5 and beat Parcells' Patriots in the Wild Card. For some inexplicable reason, and no one knows exactly why, nor did Bernie mention why in his book, Lerner either fired Bernie or Bernie quit, and Lerner/Policy hired Dwight Clark as the GM and Chris Palmer as the head coach......... and the misery of the expansion-era Browns began. Meanwhile, that Patriots franchise hired Bill Belichick in 2001 and the rest is history.
With that front office even belichick couldn’t have won. It was all done in a hurry and it showed and still shows to this day. I wish the league took its time getting a team back in Cleveland
@@goldeneye9859 Exactly. Honestly, what should have happened is for Lerner to heed Kosar and hire Belichick - or at least TRY to - and offer him full autonomy to build the team from scratch. Let him pick the front office, personel, and of course the roster. That's essentially what Kraft did in New England.
