2:05 Ryan Clark just brought this up on NFL Live, Josh Cribbs torching them with the wildcat. I’m a Steelers fan but had to come and check this out. Cribbs was a beast.
I remember all these, I miss Josh Cribbs. You'd think they would just stop kicking to him lol. That 2007 game in pittsburgh (the 'divet cam' game) I think they just started squibbing it super short so they got the ball at like the 40 every drive after. He was just so goddamn fun. Devin Hester was fast and could house it with one missed tackle... but Cribbs was powerful, elusive, had insane vision, and was consistent. Former college QB who didn't get drafted, lied when they asked if he'd played receiver before at a tryout, and then lied when asked if he'd returned punts or kicks before in training camp lol. First chance he got in the preseason, he returned a kickoff 99 yards against the Lions for a touchdown. The rest was history. He still has a podcast if you're interested (browns coverage though).
I remember cribbs was the whole reason I watched Cleveland football back in the day when Cleveland wasnt really that good but sheesh was cribbs exciting to watch
I want to see his tackling highlights as well. Don’t forget how many times he made a clutch tackle on the kickoff right after his touchdown returns. The man should have been a strong safety.
I NEVER thought about him being a defensive player. But that makes a lot of sense. He was so hard to tackle and gameplan for because he wasn't a receiver or a corner returning kicks, he was a QB lmao. So he could've definitely been a viable box safety in the modern NFL if he focused on defense from the start I think. I feel that's a way harder switch than QB to WR though of course. And still way harder than LB to FB for obvious reasons. I just wish he could be on the modern browns man, he would be so much goddamn fun.
People also forget that Cribbs lead the league in special teams tackles multiple times. He could return kicks and punts, be the gunner on both, run trick plays, and play receiver. He was the only thing worth watching for back in the "at least we have phil dawson" days.
Joe Thomas said he could've been a premier RB in the league. But he was also the best special-teams player in the league, so there would've been a trade-off to featuring him at RB. They eventually played him more at WR late in his career in Cleveland.
Love how during this time, Ben Roethlisberger (Miami OH), Josh Cribbs (Kent State) and Charlie Frye (Akron) who were the MAC stars at QB would play against each other as Steelers vs Browns.
That's irrelevant though... the ball touched his hands initially, so he had to grab it regardless. If he let it go into the endzone, it would've been a safety
@@christopherhejduk3291 he is referring to that pos thug Harrisons hit which he then got up and taunted after a helmet to helmet hit. I'm not a fan of either team but I find it funny that Pitt fans cry over the Hit from burfict to brown but there is like 30 clips of dirty hits from pit players that you never mention. Get fucked
So pathetic how in the pocket of the Steelers the whole NFL is. Bitching and whining about a holding penalty that never happened and desperately trying to convince viewers that Cribbs didn’t earn that return. So pathetic. The Steelers and their fans are just the worst.

It was a shame that they never could win with Cribbs and Joe Thomas. Both class acts
@@josephhecht6331 Don't forget Phil Dawson as well...
@@velikynovgorod4358 Phil Dawson is the man... dude was a stud in fantasy because the offense could never get in the endzone!
You were one of the best Browns since the rebirth in 1999, Josh! Thank you for your awesome service! 😎 🏈
I remember when the Bengals and Palmer would play the Browns,Cribbs was an absolute MENACE. Kicking off was most nerve wracking for the opposing team.

Came here to find those myself. He was equally as good at coverage as he was returning. A true dawg for life

Takes it tooo the CRIB
I remember that well. One bright spot in dark times for my brownies. All in this year boys. All in.
The definition of what a football player is
Facts that’s why I say Dion the goat football player

As a Steeler fan, cribbs was fun to watch! Miss those days
I bet you do. Lol... Browns won about 1 out of every 10 against Pittsburgh back then!
He’s insane
Why we never played him at RB is beyond me
True swiss army knife. He kinda was a rb in those wildcats but man he already played too many positions as it was 😂

Good Memories!!!!
Gotta love cribbs

Hmm I never thought of that! I believe James Harrison went to Kent St as well
Great dude from Ohio
Awesome stuff. You should post this on the Browns sub reddit.
Thank you! Good idea
When ur friend Izzy’s dad is this legend
The reason i plsyed as Cleveland on madden back then
Fun to watch! Even though Browns went 1-7 against the Steelers during Cribbs time there
When I used to play Madden 11 on the Wii, I would go out of my way to trade for this guy. Dude was an absolute cheat code in that game.
He’s really a Steeler Owner😂😂😂😂
Imagine him 16 games starting as running back
Except at 0:44 you can clearly see the ball was touching the line

Good try nathaniel

Steelers tried to kill him.
Shows how trash they are.
Miles Garrett actually tried to kill Mason. Brown, as always, are trash.

Not just him but James Harrison also knocked out Colt McCoy and Mohammed Massaqoui from dirty hits

CTE was the excuse not to pay guy’s like Cribbs and Hester.
That’s why the kickoff was moved up and the wedge eliminated.
Great football player on a bad team
Hall of Fame! What sets Cribbs apart from other great returners is his ability to also cover kicks. No better special teams player.
