Someone who always gave 100% with enthusiasm for the team. I remember that fateful game in Denver where he was having a tremendous game and helped bring us back only to end with that tragic fumble. One of my favorite Brown’s players of all time.
Ah, the glory days of the eighties Browns! Mack, By ner, Kosar and the rest of "the Dawgs" !!! A high bar that the Browns have been trying to equal ever since............sigh............
It should... Marty once said that if there was one guy not named Bernie that he would never trade, it would have been Earnest Byner. He was a weapon... He was Marshall Faulk before it was cool to be a pass-catching running back. His highlight tape could have been a lot longer. I guess I just figured that the casual football fans who don't know Byner would be more likely to click on a shorter video
A buddy of mine was at a golf outing a number of years ago that Byner attended. Apparently, people were joking with him about the fumble... He just owned it and had a laugh with everyone. Great guy.
I know he tends to be the scapegoat for the fumble, but giving up a 98-yard drive is on the coaching. The prevent defense only prevented a Super Bowl berth.

Remember watching Ernest play as I sat on the couch next to my pops. Great player and those were some great times.

As bad as it is now, history will always be there. No one will forget the heart of those 80s Browns teams and the community that rallied behind them!

Those were the days !
You'd have thought a Byner highlight video would last longer than 3:51

great player it's a shame he will be most remembered in Cleveland for THE FUMBLE vs Denver ..

There is only one Ernest Byner highlight that I remember, sadly…
