Cleaning The BMW E46 Interior on a budget

Today we give the interior of the budget E46 BMW a clean and freshen up. I mostly utilised cleaning products which I had lying around. The items I had to buy, I took the opportunity to purchase them when they were on sale 25% off. Some can be diluted to go much further. Some of the items I used may not be the cheapest but gave the best results and protection moving forward. If you are wanting t...

Ciao io o la versione del 2002 3000 6 cilindri biturbo col cambio manuale, che olio devo mettere?
Such an awesome video. Nice work man!
Would a 2008 have the later sensor?
You are a fantastic tutor. Great help and videos. Kind regards.
Any chance you will be replacing the front control arms and joints (sorry don't know the specific name in English)?
great video man ,, but what about some m5 content dude :)
I guy as always fantastic vidio it's great watching this new content as I have 2 e46 m3 so it's great watching your new prodgect 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I have the same problem, how long did this last for you? If it's every 6 months or so then It's definitely worth it since it is 3 minute job! Thanks a lot for sharing this!!!
@@e38.e46 Should resolve it for the long term
which one is better automatic gearbox or manual gearbox? not for the fun but for reliability
Hello i got question i got weird noise i think it is the differential but the noise is there only when gear is in when its neutral then there is no noise also when i press gas the noise go away any advice ? It is 118d
Good man
Im getting crazy. On every video it looks so easy, but im just getting less than 1 inch to short so it will not click pffff. 05:20 I see that you use a screwdriver to whip it on, but it just does not work for me at this point. Will try again later.
I had to stretch this on using a lever, it is tricky
do you need to setup any drain when you bleed with the diagnostics tool or does the car handle it?
No, it all goes back to the reservoir
@@MTechGuy amazing, seriously thank you for the rapid response. i have a 2007 m6 e64 that has been neglected for the past few years so im trying to get it back to life and the transmission is the only thing acting up shifting, maybe slip
Uhhh does the Trick with the pedal also works on an 116d ?!???
The 116d has a mechanical water pump, not electric. Different bleed procedure
Ok, thanks for your helpfull Videos!!! I love to watch your e87 Videos! These are so helpfull!!
On my 128i, I do not have a rear guibo. Just one from transmission output to driveshaft. Went to replace the rear based on this video, and turns out it’s not on my vehicle..
thank you sir, very usefull. My e87 is 120D but imagine if very near.
Sweet feature, I didn’t know this one! Thank you!
What’s a cyaaar? 😅 Not all cars can take jacking the diff guys Thank you for the video x
Please don't forget to remove the sump plug that is at the front there is nearly 1liter that comes out.
My M5 is a 2005, it only has one sump drain plug, you can still drain all the oil though- th-cam.com/video/HdbOHiAnmOc/w-d-xo.html
Looks a lot smarter. Where did you get those caps from?
I was wondering if you have any idea of a scan tool that will work with the Z4 E85? I have been unable to find anything that indicates what scanner will do the SMG hydraulic fluid depressurize function or transmission oil flush. Asking vendors like Foxwell is like asking my wife, they seem to have no clue about the specific capabilities of their devices. Thanks for your help.
Like asking the wife 🤣 I used the Schwaben scan tool for my SMG fluid change, which is basically a rebranded Foxwell tool- th-cam.com/video/7CrQXa6CZZM/w-d-xo.html I pretty much just bought it then worked through what it would actually do for the M5 (which was a lot, SMG depressurise, SMG clutch position adaptions/calibration, VANOS bleed etc) Like you say, the info out there wasn’t great/complete. It’s been a really good useful scan tool, for the price it’s worth buying anyhow, if this doesn’t do the SMG depressurising on your Z4, then you’ll be looking at a laptop with ISTA
Nicely done. Maybe you could paint the white caps in blue 🤔
I thought about painting them, but I don’t think the paint will hold up that well on the plastic. Got some black ones on the front now, they blend in nicely
Great set of instructions done to perfection
Hi Just checking- do you need to remove the vanos pump in order to change the high pressure vanos line, or is there enough room to get the old vanos line out and thread the new one back in with the vanos pump still in situ?
Remove the VANOS pump, there might be enough room to slide the hose out but I think you’d struggle. To be honest if you are that deep in, with the oil pan removed you want to remove the VANOS pump and inspect it while you have the chance, just make sure to set the back lash correctly when re-fitting
@@MTechGuy thanks. Also, is it essential to bleed the vanos system using ISTA after replacing the high pressure vanos line? I’m wondering- wouldn’t it just bleed itself under normal driving (taking it easy for a while of course)
I would bleed it 3 times with a scan tool, you don’t want any cavitation at the pump
mine is very tough started. if it starts theres like 90% it stops, if it dont, it smokes like hell. only bank 1 starts, bank 2 dont. it dont even open or anything.
Read the fault codes and go from there. If the issue is bank specific, swap the ionic modules to see if it’s an ionic module that’s failing
this genuinely saved me attempting to remove the back rest of the seats or smash the plastic behind the armrest.... not sure why other videos do not show this! I dont have a key slot to realse the boot/trunk as other models do, nor did using a jump pack from underneat the bonet work for me either....thanks
Thank you 😊
Hi I’ve got a quick question- when doing the rod bearings do you need to remove the spark plugs to be able to turn the engine? I’m wondering how strong the compression is in the cylinders.
Not really, it will still turn OK with the plugs in place
Well. What's life without moments like this?
True, I’m pleased I caught it on camera so it may give a few viewers a good laugh
My drivers side door speaker isnt working but its not the speaker itself as ive tested it. The rear drivers side speaker went off first and then the drivers door speaker and subwoofer under the seat dont work. Any ideas?
Check the wiring, then check the head unit, the pre-amps have been known to fail
@@MTechGuy thank you. Any idea where the amp is? I can't see it anywhere in the boot.
Cobbled concrete, the bane of my existence. Nothing worse when you spill oil and have to clean up.
Does my head in 🙃
Turned out amazing!
Cheers!
Keep your chin up mate and thanks for the content.
Thanks man 👍
Nice work once again 👍 Looks to me like a poor design that really needed tabs on both sides to halve the amount of pressure needed to move the shade.
Yes, they always fail eventually on these cars
What is the crankcase vacuum at Hot/Idle on this engine? My bet is .5"Hg(16.9mbar) or less.
0.0 mBar on the S85 engine (+/- 1.0 mBar)
@@MTechGuy If you hook a Manometer to the oil filler cap does it ever develop vacuum throughout the RPM range through the gears? My wifes TL; th-cam.com/video/0NmEvB2lFS0/w-d-xo.html Does your oil get dark quickly or does it burn so much you keep putting new oil in it?
@@robertjackson7590 Never tried it to be honest. My M5 doesn’t really use oil, not too discoloured but I do change it frequently. So long as the PCV valves are in good shape on these engines it’s all good
@@MTechGuy Thanks, I was just curious. How do you know when the PCV valves start failing?
When the V10 starts chewing through oil
had my first car, a 325ci, for a month or so now and love it. im at least going to get it from 170k to 200 miles
Mate that weld on the alloy does not look good.
Why does this have to be a 13m video instead of a 50 seconds one
Because 13 minuets vs 50 seconds is the difference between doing the job properly, or being a hack
Do you need to remove both plenums to replace all four radiator hoses?
My car is sound like the water cooking and its not leaking anywhere so i dont understand
Hey man don’t you have a shop? Why not build a shop instead of the car port or you could remove the carport and build one might be a lot easier then this man surely
Top tip for me ... Unplug before unclipping and the bulb and when replacing the cover line up the feet. great video thank you!
Thanks for checking out the video Milan, I’m pleased you found it helpful
Excellent !!!
Superb video ! That's a really cool (pristine) special Bimmer you have. I own several scan tools, but nothing extreme. I just bought a 2007 BMW 650i with the SMG transmission. The previous owner has had it for 4 years and he told me the trans. has not been serviced during his ownership. I'm not sure my scan tools can do the necessary transmission service functions, so can this hydraulic service be performed without a scan tool ? I know the car hesitates to go into reverse at startup, but I'm also not exactly certain how these cars should shift, so I'm unsure if it has shifting problems. It doesn't act right and shows 133,000 miles on the odometer. Any suggestions?
I would start by reading the codes. It’s certainly worth starting with checking the hydraulic fluid level and check the relays too. You will need a scan tool like this, to check the level and change the fluid (the accumulator needs to be depressurised) This scan tool was relatively cheap and has been very useful with this car
Great video ! Extremely helpful... and YOU have taken the time to answer all the questions in the comment section. PERFECT !
No worries, thanks for checking out the video Jon 👍
Repco here in Australia had a clearance on the high quality cabin filters. 12 dollars! Let's just say I could only find two but purchased them in seconds 😂. Hopefully two should last me a while.
That’s mad, I haven’t seen them prices here in NZ! It was Repco where the filter was $300 for a ryco when I made this video
Hey man, thanks for the heads up! I just picked up a pair for my M5 $48 on clearance, last set in stock! 👍
good job. thanks
