Mostly everyone is overweight.

We left AZ a couple months ago after buying & living in Maricopa for 3+ years...too many reasons why. The State has some awesome history and places of interest, but it's a scary place to live...especially in Maricopa.

Check out The Optima Sonoran Ranch, I lived in a 1550 sq ft 3 bedroom condo on the top floor, paid $1478 a month in the 9 years I lived there, would probably be $4,000 - $5,000 a month now equivalent to $15,000 in many places in California

1. Too expensive 2. Too crowded, you nailed it 3. They downplay the crime problem 4. Massive bubbles in RE and cars I bought in 2010; sold last year.

Too much crap about the houses and nothing about the amenities and lifestyle.

Our local pool guy said a shelf is a waste of $$. You pay by the same per sq/ft, whether it's 6", 3 " feet, or 7 feet deep.

Just personal opinion but the "shelf" stuff seems like a massive waste of space. Why do people want to sit chairs in the pool? Just odd. Also, slides and water features almost always look ugly to me. Even this supposed "modern" style looks ugly and dated to me. I would not want that. The only thing I'd ever consider is an actual natural waterfall with real stones. And no, I want a real deep end to dive. 9' deep end. Then again we have a much larger pool then that.

When you realize running your a.c cost as much as a Lamborghini. 😅

Im looking to build a very similar pool in NY. Im on the fence of adding a spa, we cant use it in the winter as well need to close our pool down as the temps drop. The difference in price appears to be close to 30k for it, is it worth it still?

I have been searching a lot about pool builders and some cost approximations but couldn't didn't find much online before I saw this video. I don't have that big budget as yours but anyway I don't have that big yard too 🙂. It will be great if you can also talk about financing options, what are good options available in Phoenix for getting the backyard / pool financed.

The lower sinks are probably handy for people I. Wheelchairs.

As a person that grew up with a 7 feet deep pool, that's a must in my book. Had a blast, thanks to that. That is if you like to swim.

These are great tips! My biggest regret when we built our pool is not doing the Baja shelf. Our builder kept selling it as a “tanning ledge” and we’re already dark skinned 😂 But now I wish I had it for the reasons you stated.

Also cannot recycle these panels. Need a COUNTY permit as well as a building permit. These are separate as some counties do not allow solar. Some say they will install for "free"... because they keep all the gov't kick backs, which is way more than the cost of the system. Solar is a complete scam.

Omigosh. Thank you for this series on solar. My husband and I have gone back and forth on this issue for years. My opinion is I am 67. There is no way we will ever recover the $$ spent on solar. I look forward to learning more from you. Oh, and we are in Gilbert where one would think solar is a no brainer.

Great suggestions. We included 4 out of 5 in the pool we are building right now. The one that I didn't do was his depth suggestion. We had that in the pool at our last house and we hated it. Most of the pool was too deep for the shorter 5 ft tall women and all the kids in the family. So everyone that wasn't on a float was jammed into the shallow end. On the new pool we have a large shallow section going from 3 ft to 4.5 ft, and then a quick drop off down to 5.5 ft at the far end. So I think it just depends on what you want, and the height of the people using the pool. I thought I would love the game pool design in our old house, but in 17 years of living there, we never once played volleyball. In the new pool, a large percentage of the pool around the spa and the tanning shelf (never heard the term Baja shelf here in Texas) is 4.5 ft or less for hanging out, and then one deep section at the far end for jumping in.

We are building almost same pool minus slide, adding a Big Pavilion on the west side.

I have everything you have minus the slide...that slide is amazing. We have two waterfalls and a bubblers with lights on the sun ledge.

I think you're about a safe distance from AJ as long as you're south of the 60 but you do have the big landfill not far to the east =O and even the big manufactured home park at the 60 and Ironwood. Definitely things to consider.

I lived in AJ my first 3 years in AZ. That was 40 years ago. Loved it there, but it was too far from my job in Phoenix, so I moved to Tempe. I'm sure AJ is much different now, as is the rest of the world.

We totally agree that if you are looking for water sports usage, you definitely need to determine depth for usage.
