  • One of the most common questions I get from buyers is, "What does it cost to build a pool in Arizona?" The answer is always, "It depends." There are so many factors that go into building a pool that it's challenging to give a straightforward figure. So, we thought the best thing we could do is show you what EVERYTHING costs in building our pool in Gilbert/Phoenix, Arizona.
    We'll walk you through construction costs, design options, and all the surprise expenses we hadn't initially accounted for.
    Thinking of Moving to AZ? I'd love to chat!

    We moved into a new build in Arizona in 2022. We didn't need, we thought, a pool because the development has a community pool. We were wrong. We decided to build a pool which required removing our original landscaping. I said we didn't need a spa but my wife reminded me that I'm wrong. Now, a pool with spa (currently waiting on pebble), outdoor kitchen, firepit and landscaping. Probably the same company that did yours (an electrical avian). It's a lot of money but, you can't take it with you!😂

    Cartridge filters are silly and a subscription. A sand tank with the newer glass beads is far superior and cheaper in the long run compared to most cartridges and as good as diatomaceous earth these days.

    I had a pool estimate for 50x20 pool with spa and a water feature and the estimate is $195K. Looks like the prices already went up. I've lived in AZ for almost 20 years now and a pool is really a good investment.

    Thanks for doing this. Fantastic job designing your family backyard. It’s magnificent and your price is low imo. In my 45’x30’ backyard I had one of the big 3 pool builders design and build a spool (15’x17’) in 2021 with two water features, turf, broom finish concrete decking, basic Hayward (no automation), no heater, no spa, no landscape lighting + river rock + drip irrigation-not PVC + landscaping (14-5 gal. hopseed bushes) + hard dig ($6k extra). Total $65k! I use a system of umbrellas for shade. It’s actually quite nice, but a colossal pain opening and closing. My next expense is pergolas to cover most of the backyard. Quotes are $20-$30k for pergolas.

    • @EscapeToArizona
      @EscapeToArizona  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pergolas last I checked were $30/sqft where I'm at. I got mine for $20/sqft..definitely not cheap! Sounds like an amazing yard!

    The extra turf expense proprably comes from the fact that you have triangles and not straight rectangles to cover. The turf comes in rolls at certain length and widht therefore adjusting and cutting to those shapes and angles would cost more material but they should have told you that before and not charge you the extra later.

    Hello Ryan, from Ouray, Colorado. This is a super rundown of your backyard paradise! It looks really awesome....and is incredibly functional. I typically dont care to be inside much, so I can see how your yard will pull you outside!!
    Just for us, I would not do the basketball/tennis court, nor the slide. And, I would include a hand hold or two to get in and out of the pool by the baja shelf. Aside from that, I love everything you have done!
    The covered porches with misters....brilliant!! Baja Shelf for some dry-ish feet wetting relaxing.....awesome!! Including a spa on the side....a MUST, for us!
    Question- if you dont mind me asking, what made you go with a gas pool heater vice a solar heater?
    Have a great day!!

    • @EscapeToArizona
      @EscapeToArizona  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment! I didn't have solar presented to me as an option. You'd probably need solar on your home and then just go with electric. Some systems warm up the pool by using PVC on the roof (warming the water), but that breaks down after a few years. You'd still need an electric or a gas heater for hot tub in winter. We don't heat the pool in the winter. I'm looking up smaller solar systems and maybe that's a possibility down the road?

    • @campingalan
      @campingalan 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@EscapeToArizona awesome point. Yes. I would tend to just shift over to a hot tub/spa in the cooler months; so, wouldn't need the pool heated, per say. But yes....a house solar system, especially if I had the roof space to make the system bigger, would be a great electric heater option!

    It sounds like the base price of the pool is just a hole in the ground and some plaster. Kind of like buying a car with no engine and no tires. Maybe I misunderstood what you said but it sounded like you have to pay extra if you want a pool pump or electrical for the lighting. Back when I put in a pool (20years ago) these things were included in the based price and then you could upgrade from there if you wanted something special.

    • @EscapeToArizona

The pool only cost lines up with what a local Phoenix builder has given me for when they contract out on basic 10x20' or so pool with new builds if you don't do anything too fancy.

      I personally like ice white for the pebble color...
      Then I'd go with lighter colors around the tiling perimeter. Feel like a lot of people go too dark in the pool and if you have little kids it's tough to see them.
      Plus the lighter you go on your pebble color, the more the pool lights will reflect.
