    Remember that those CD-Rom device names become reserved names in DOS. In this configuration, you would be unable to create or change to an existing directory named SCSICD, IDE or MITSUMI, for example, as long as those drivers are loaded.

    I like the sheer number of boot options you have in your setup. Getting proper sound on a PS/2 can be quite the chore indeed. For fun, I set up my PS/2 model 95 to quad boot DOS 6.22 (and various Win 3.x) + Win 95 + NT 3.51 + NT 4 solely using NT's boot loader. Microsoft used to have a guide for the triple boot of DOS 5/6 + 95a + NT 3.51 but fortunately I saved some archived links in the description of one of my vids where I added additional scripts for starting various Win 3.x options from DOS 6.x.

    The nostalgia factor is so high on this. We used to have a computer store called Ray Davis & Company, and all the sold was IBM and Apple Macintosh. As a nine or ten-year-old, I'd walk through that store, seeing the salesmen all dressed in coats and ties, and drool over these machines before going home to my humble-but-loved Color Computer 2. This is sheer beauty. Very VERY early in my career I was lucky enough to do this as part of a school network I administered with Novell 3.12 and a bunch of diskless PC's running DOS 6.22 / Windows 3.11. I thought it was sheer magic that I could essentially do something centrally like make Encarta '96 available and for that change to be available to all of those PC's. I didn't actually know this was possible with Windows NT till much later on by which time the world had moved on, but it left me with an insatiable appetite at centralization of computer resources. In 2000 I was also privileged to work with Citrix / Terminal Services which is even more 'remote' in its application and equally blew me away. I guess I'm easily impressed :)

The Later RM connect was used, but again getting hold of the software is practically a no go. It was stated that the RM connect had the great windows Deployment services. 15:00 This brought back memories. I was home one winter during my college years and saw SCSI QIC tape drives on sale at a local computer store. These took the full-size DC-type tapes. For some reason I thought tape backup would be better than just getting a second hard drive and asked my parents to help purchase it along with some 250MB tapes. I already had a SCSI interface and SCSI CD-ROM drive so it would fit right in. Once I was back at university and used it, I regretted my decision. It was so incredibly loud and took so long to backup my hard drive's data that I was embarrassed at the noise for hours. That is a very Interesting machine with all those cd-roms and the tape drive. I like how you explain all the stuff. But that 486 DX2 66 mhz and the VLB video card should be tested with DOOM. It was the iconic combo processor+video card for playing DOOM. Anyway, still it is a nice video, man.

    Hi Chris Finally watch this video in its entirety Nice machine, and you went all out with expanding it, you definitely went out of your way to tick all boxes and satisfy every manufacturer Mr Bios, he needs to be added to Spaceballs next to Mr Coffee and Mr Radar Please do a part 2 and daisy chain scsi scanner and printer I was surprised you got the approx 580k base memory, dos 5 to 6.22 memmaker is not to bad, but i did used to read the card setting and exclude the hardware address to that the specific card to solely use it. With all the cdroms, it reminds me of a few home setup BBS with night owl or similar I actually, leaned something, you can add multiple cdroms on one line on the mscdex command line, there are a few replacement cdrom drivers etc ( i cannot recall OAK or DRDOS or a cdrom manufacturer like Panasonic ) Happy C:\>EMBER Regards George

    You probably don't need XT-IDE when you now have MR BIOS. ;) This will save you 1kB of conventional ram, too, that it stole.

    • @GigAHerZ64
      @GigAHerZ64 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @RetroTechChris if XT-IDE can fix it, then MR BIOS should do it just as well. The issue obviously comes from original bios if XT-IDE can fix it as XT-IDE replaces the ide command routines in bios. MR BIOS does not have the same bug in it as the original, I'm quite certain.

    Third question: if you want to fully use the Gameport on your sound card, would you consider using the PC Gameport Party (designed by yours truly) and break out those 15 pins to 2 joystick ports, a midi in and midi out port? I can reach out and send you one, if you're interested to try it out. Shines better if you have midi stuff, but having 2 joystick support is cool for the limited game list msdos has that support those (ie Rampart is a good one)

You get to play with creative music system for late 80's stuff and tandy 3 voice natively without a patch for early Sierra games. Just need to make room for one ISA first :)
