Great video, Chris! It was awesome to talk to you at VCF, even for a brief time. Hope to see you at Midwest where our cable headend focused exhibit team is headed next.
It was absolutely great to meet you in person! Thanks for your help with some of the video clips.. and for the very kind donation of the 286 Zenith laptop.
Thanks Chris for sharing this great video with us. Man, I really enjoyed watching this. Have a great evening!! :-) -Melvin - Tuesday, April 26, 2022 - Colorado Springs, Colorado - 9:44 PM - 60 F degrees
Super cool, Chris! Tons of retro "celebs" 4:17 Love the Amigas! 12:20 even more! Man, loved the workshop and classroom areas. Cool to see Mac84 Steve, Operation 8-bit Tony, JavMaster, and Thomas Andrews!
Howdy! The Data General display was focused on the Nova 1200 (the machine on the right side with the front panel). It was using the Heathkit H89 to run a serial output diagnostic program in lieu of a real DG terminal, hence the piece of tape that said "Data General" as a joke. The Nova never did successfully run BASIC at the show due to technical difficulties. The Toshiba Satellite on the left side was for loading software onto the Nova 1200, replacing a paper tape reader.
Loved the display table setups. I have just started setting up displays once a month at my Local Library, here in Palm Coast Fl. I am not the only one, but I would love to see VCF start a new chapter down here in Florida. VCF Florida !!! The home of the IBM PC !!!
Another guy here in FLorida with a great collection of vintage computers is Eric S. Ackerman and there are plenty of others down here. th-cam.com/channels/kMotwWFMEq2R1pfWfw-dYQ.html Something makes me think that the 8-Bit Guy lives down this way as well... I am not a 100% sure on that, but I think so.
I miss those! You could go to an expo center and buy parts and assemble a system!! I guess that got replaced by brick and mortars... and THAT got replaced with mail order.
Haha. I saw you there at one point on Sunday. I wanted to say hi but I was in a hurry to get something out of my truck. When I came back in, you were nowhere to be seen. O well. Keep it up. I'll be honest, when you first started, you were extremely stiff but you've loosened up. Getting better with every video.
Sorry to have missed you. I was there on Saturday. Thanks for the video feedback... no professional training here, so I've learned as I go :) Thanks for watching!!
10:11 You didn't mention Touhou with the PC-98 on display. You may not even know this, but all Touhou games that were released on the PC-98 were ported to Windows in the style of NES games.
@@RetroTechChris Also the Tektronix terminal near the end is actually a self contained computer (405x). It used the DC500 tape cartridge for storage, and as a option had floppy disks that would connect using GPIB bus as well as plotters.
question - i didn't see heath or zeniths .???? i have a complete z100 w/ monitor right next to me and i still have the books i thinks. i used z80 assembler . i wonder how much a z100 is worth today?
@@RetroTechChris Hi Chris. These computers brought tears to me, since I growned by watching their evolution. I even got a degree on them (68k anyone?). The joke on for-loops was actual that time, since the bosses wanted to get a computer but not pay for software (familiar? ;) , so the joke was you buy the computer, but what actually does the computer?. Thanks for the great content.

Another great tour, one of these days I'll get over to America and hopefully see things like this for myself. Well done.
Thank you. That would be awesome if you are able to attend one of these! Would love to meet you in person!
