    Hi Steph! I’m a beginner in sewing and I’ve found you so inspirational. I’ve made a couple of dresses that are “wearable” and love the fabric/style but haven’t worn because they’ve got quite a few flaws. I think I might take them for a spin after seeing your video!

    Im still learning in my late 50s. I worked in the beauty industry and had to wear really nice clothes, and high heels. After the recession of 08, I started nursing school and working in Hospice care. Now, I'm disabled and stay home. It's so hard for me NOT to buy those beautiful clothes I used to wear. I'd like a uniform to wear daily but I want a beautiful wardrobe I want to love to wear. So hard to decide.

    Hi Dear, thanks for sharing this with us, I am French and knew 2 of the designers you mentioned (Maison Fauve and les lubies de Cadia). I would recommend also the following one: Atelier Bernie, Bélène Paris (pattern also in english), Atelier des premières, lefoudecoudre (male designer - patterns for male so), methode mathilde and barapatron (this is an unsual one as with this brand you are able to create a pattern based on your own measurment - not yet tested though but will surely test it in future as I love the idea)

I've just discovered your channel and I've binged all of them 😅 I've been on a sewing slump for ages but thanks to you I've seen new pattern brands that have inspired me to sew for myself again (I work as a pattern maker, so I was starting to lose the excitement of making things for me because it felt like work... but seeing all those new patterns and creators has filled me with joy and new ideas!) Hello Steph ! Thanks for sharing the different designers ! Hope you don't mind me commenting, but I would like to let you know about my own brand, also French, called Ose Patterns ("ose" means "being bold" in French). To tell you about my background, I changed my career to study at a fashion school and in a maison for two years. I learnt pattern making with the draping technique so this is how I create my designs. One of the patterns that encapsulates my aesthetics the most is the DELANO dress, with its statement sleeves. My patterns, instructions, videos are in English (and French obviously). Happy summertime !

    I would love to see Mau focus on extended sizes in the more complicated/difficult patterns. Often only the simplest patterns get sized up. I think that a sixty inch hip is the minimum that should be expected to call a pattern size inclusive. I would also encourage them to work with a fat fashion designer/consultant on larger sizes, to do the sizing up right. I'd be interested in sewing the Bellamy but I have about a 70" hip so I'd be surprised if a high fashion pattern designer went that inclusive.

    • @StephSewn
      @StephSewn หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for sharing this! I completely agree- it is frustrating to see designers hype about extending their size range, but then they release boxy tunics or elastic waist trousers only. What is your favourite inclusive brand? I've heard great things about Muna and Broad (though they don't offer a similar style to Mau), and I also am excited for the launch of Starling Plus Petite.

    • @velvetvert9431
      @velvetvert9431 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@StephSewn I'm a huge fan of Muna and Broad, they do boxy but it is a specific aesthetic version of it based on the designer's tastes. I haven't looked into Starling Plus Petite, but I will now :)

    I do alterations & use the stretch thread for things like golf pant hems that are very tapered & need to retain some stretch to get on or needs some stretch during use - tennis & golf skorts, things like that. Also, stretch denim jean waistbands & hems. For construction seams I stick with a serger or stretch stitch on a my regular sewing machine. Am in the US and buy it from Wawak. There is also a cone stretch thread for sergers (different than wooly nylon) - so be sure you know which one you are ordering- ask me how I know!
