Thanks for including me and for your lovely words about my brand Steph! ❤ Looking forward to part 2! 🥳
They look so good! Not sewing right now, but I look forward to trying them out in the future
Your delivery is fantastic! I could watch your videos all day. Glad I found you !
Thank you for including my patterns in this beautiful video amongst so many other amazing pattern designers, it was a joy to watch! 🤍
Of course!! Can't wait to keep working on my pattern test this weekend 😈
Once again, you have introduced me to indie pattern companies that I was completely unaware of. Thank you.
The quilted coat is perfection! I want!
Stumbled across this video and thought “I’ve hit the TH-cam sewing jackpot.” Thank you!
thought the same thing!
Steph, you are such a professional presenter! Thank you for getting to the point, making excellent observations and introducing us to designers that I doubt I would have found without you.🎉
Oh, I love this idea for a series, particularly this focus. I'm a new sewist, and I'm an American who happens to be married to a Norwegian, and I haven't stumbled across any Nordic pattern makers in my sewing wanderings yet. This is so fun. Thank you!
Great video! I am just returning to sewing after a 3 year break and wanted to just catch up on latest patterns and designers for some inspiration. Will definitely be checking out your other videos.
I’ve made at least 6 pairs of the Ploen patterns wide legged Tyra trousers. Yes they are elastic waist trousers ( I’ve put a flat front in) - but I love the fit and the width of the leg is perfect. I feel I should make normal wide legged trousers with a fly front - but it’s always just easier to use the Tyra pattern - I’ve made some coord sets too. Thanks for this series!
The last stitch book! I need to buy it. Thank you for this. I am Swedish and have never heard of these patternmakers. You sure are on it.
Thank you for shining a light on no-waste, inclusive, and slow fashion makers!
So thrilled to have found you! You speak with such authority and enthusiasm about sewing, look forward to watching more of your videos. Best wishes from Scotland xx
Yeah,I love the way you speak ma'am❤
Thanks so much. This was a fun and informative vlog. Really enjoyed it ❤. I just recently found your channel and wanted to let you know how refreshing I found it.
Thanks for the effort you put into these vlogs. Really interesting content and very ‘different’.
So glad i stumbled across your videos. They are amazing
I've bought the silversaga cora top pattern!
thank you for allowing m discovering those lovely designers/patterns.
I am loving your content! Thank you
Loved this cool take on some designers I hadn’t seen yet. Thanks for doing the research! Can’t wait for the next one!
More to come! Having so much fun with this.
love what you found here--I checked the websites out and Brigitta is terrific! FYI--I can recommend a booklet called CUT MY COTE by Burnham, published in 1973, this shows cutting drafts for traditional tunic garments thru history and global region, it's the benchmark text for starting this sort of zero waste pattern design, with a sensitivity to fabric width. A 1980's book on Scandinavian apparel design: EASY STYLE by Elsebeth Gynther (also published in the US), a Danish oroginal publication. Lots of good pattern examples and tutorials for that era of flat cut garment design.
What’s your tank top pattern? Looks fab!
Thanks for this! I used to live in Sweden so I've had an interest in Swedish designers since I started sewing - Ploen was new to me so I will definitely be checking them out!
Love the series idea, which country is next? 😃
This was my first video that I've watched, but I'm definitely going to go through a bunch of your other stuff (including part 2)! I am always on the search for designers that I might not have seen before or have only seen maybe one or two things.
Side note: As someone with Finnish family, I always chuckle when people describe Scandi style as minimalist and beige. I've always experienced it as a mix of the simple and then like 7 patterns all on top of each other. Usually Marimekko too, which has some very bold prints.
Thank you for introducing these designers. I’ve just ordered all 3 of Johanna Lundstrom’s books based on your recommendation.
Love it!!! Next time can you leave the designers' names on the screen when you talk about them so I can write them down along with notes I'm taking as you talk about them! ❤ thanks so much for a great video.
All the names and links are in the info below the video

Nice to see research into wider sewing geography. I really endorse Johanna’s books. I have her jeans book and the active wear book. My Evie cardigan is almost done, sewing on snaps today in fact, my boyfriend who is so fussy and particular about looks really was surprised by how great one can get the fit (as you said princess seams make a difference). As a long time Burda subscriber (1990+) I find I want really unique patterns now with details, which I think is not really the Scandi design ethos. I am now living in Sweden (Brexit refugee), viewing people on the streets it really is a stripped to the essentials look. Clean yes, but does not suit my flamboyant tartan Westwoodesque dream style…. she says walking in hiking boots with snow pants for the daily walking commute. 😂
Always fantastic!
Wow this is so awesome seeing such a range of designs!
Brilliant video! Absolutely love this series. Can’t wait for the rest
Oh! I love your channel! Just found it and now I need to binge watch : ) Thank you!
This is a great series, thanks Steph! I've found your channel through this video and love the thoughtful and in depth way you talk about sewing and patterns.
Thanks Steph! I was just looking at Birgitta Helmerson's patterns last night 😊 this series is fantastic. Can't wait for part 2 💖
I have just discovered your channel. Thank you for all your hard work in putting this video together. I loved it! I'm off to check out your other videos and to subscribe 😊
This is great! Thanks for telling us about these pattern designers. 😊
Unsubscribing because you've introduced me to WAY too many designs that I now want to sew but have no time to 🤣
really wonderful content! Thank you for introducing us to some REALLY great new designers
Loving the series! So cool to learn about new designers ❤
Thank you Steph. This is my first visit to your channel. I knew I would be subscribing in the first few minutes. I loved your content. Your presentation manner was very professional and engaging. You have a great voice to listen to and your pacing was easy to keep step with. I was interested in everything you shared and am looking to choose a designer and pattern to try out in the not too distant future, as I beginner my journey in refreshing my junior high sewing skills and then move on from there, I am already looking forward to your next episode. Bye for now, Anita P.S. My father was born and raised in Sweden 🙂
Thanks for sharing these new to me designers .
Loved this video! So glad I’ve found your channel thru this.
Just found your Chanel So pleased I did. Really enjoyed hearing about Swedish designers. Already planned on what to order. Thank you x
Thank you, Steph! Super review!
Fantastic video!❤❤❤❤
Steph, this series is great!! I love learning about new pattern designers, especially those with industry experience. Very, very excited for part 2! I sewed the Mina Wrap dress from Silversaga and I absolutely loved it. Very spot on fit (at least for my body), particularly the wrap bust. I don't mind the fabric hungry patterns. Sewing is like a spoiled child that I'm going to spend all my money on anyways😆
I'd definitely like to make a linen Birgitta Helmersson Zero waste gathered dress for an upcoming hot and sweaty trip to Bali.
I really enjoyed this video. I learned about new to me designers. Thanks.
Thank you for this tour! I had not heard of Brigette, but I love those patterns, and it makes zero waste appealing…finally! ;)
I really like the ZW tier dress from Birgitta Helmerson. That is definitely going to my summer holiday list. This is my first time hearing about her brand, so thank you for introducing me to a new brand. Silver Saga is one pattern I really want to sew. I bought one of her dress patterns last year, but I have not made it up yet. So another one for my summer sewing.
Your style is SO good
New sub, love your content! Your attention to detail & clear descriptions are very appreciated, thanks for sharing 🤩
So glad your video popped up for me. Thoroughly enjoyed your recommendations! Subscribed!!!❤
This was so lovely!! I'm deeply into the silversaga stuff. Thank you for sharing all this amazing research, I hadn't heard of 3/4 of these designers.
Love this, Steph. The Silversaga Ella is on my make nine, but I haven't started it yet. I had heard of all of these (waving to Sweden from across the border here in Norway), but it is always good with a reminder. I am really excited about the Ella dress, and I want to try the Vera dress from Ploen patterns, too. I think I saw that one featured on another sewing vloggers plans video. Looking forward to part 2.
I am impressed by your level of knowledge. 🎉
Love this video idea!! that bell jacket is gorgeous
I just found your channel, what a treasure! Love this kind of video, will be watching all your videos! 😀
I've discovered your channel through this video, really enjoyed the content and look forward to your next video.
Love this series and so happy you're planning to continue it!
I'm trying to get into knit sewing and I think I'm going to need those books too. Got myself a combo coverstitch/serger machine but have no idea what to do next 😂
I really enjoy your videos. Loved the coats and your plans from the previous one. Thanks so much for introducing me to a few new designers. I'm definitely going to check out the active wear book as I need some decent yoga gear.
Thank you so much!
So interesting! I live Brigetta who reminds me of Bonnie Cashin in so many ways. I have almost given up sewing but the jack with the pleated back is Everything! And, I love your presence, your speaking voice is easy to listen to, no wacky music or fashion dancing which I very much appreciate. Thank you as I became a fan in the first 3 minutes!
Just subscribed! Great video we'd love to be considered for your next video on designer inspired patterns!
Hello! Love to meet a new designer and will absolutely check out your work. However, are you all on Instagram? Found you on Etsy but would love to follow on Insta as well
Another nice place to engage with other sewers! The bundle pattern looks appealing and I could do my own tweaks to suit myself 😊.
Americans spend little time in development and the longest time in production. Swedes spend a longest time in development and very short times n production. I prefer to not have to do the grading work for the pattern designer.
I'd love to hear a review of the Fit for Knits book after you've purchased it. And I'm intrigued by coverstitch machines; perhaps one day you'll do a video on yours and what you've made with it?
This is exactly what I've been looking for recently but haven't known how to search for it, will be watching your other videos in the series thank you!
The big sew along just put out a video about her experience with Birgitta Helmersson patterns and she didn't have much luck but it was interesting to hear what she had to say.
Hi Steph , I’ve just discovered your channel and loved your review …I have recently acquired birgittas zero waste sewing book and have made a couple of shirts . It’s such a clever way of constructing garments and so nice to not have loads of fabric scraps left . I’m liking her quilted jacket so will def get that pattern - now off to listen to your review of French designers thankyou
Just discovered your video and really enjoyed the info you shared. I have subscribed and am looking forward to exploring your past content. Thank you.
Thank you 😊
Just "discovered" you :) Awesome series, thanks for creating such useful content!
I have Johanna's Sewing Jeans Book. It is the best guide to sewing your own jeans on the market. I highly recommend it!
I’m so glad I subscribed to your channel. Joanna Lundstrum is a sewing boss! ❤
I haven’t braved sewing with knits yet (I’m so scared of them 😅) but I LOVED this! A wonderful idea for a series, really looking to what else you look in to! 🤩
Sewing with knits is just so easy. My top tips - use a thread like the Gutermann maraflex thread which has some stretch in it. This means you can sew with a straight stitch. Secondly, use a walking foot. It really does make a difference to feed the fabric through evenly on the top and the bottom.
Just do it. Use a knit pattern and a compatible stitch, and it’s easy.
Ahh, thanks ladies 🥰 It’s my intention to do it this year alright, so many thanks for the advice! 🤗
Thank you very much, you are very charming and beautiful person!
Nice job,
Everything about this video is what my tired brain needed
Did you make that quilted jacket? It’s really unique and great looking. I’d love to see it if you made it. Thanks for these fantastic videos.
Ok, I love all the recommendations, but I have to know. Did you make that top? Because I'm interested 😄 If you could clone it or tell me where you got it, I would appreciate it!
Ditched lululemon..? Say more! I’m subscribed now, so I don’t miss it! Thanks, looking forward to hearing more from you.
Your wish is my command! First video in my Activewear series is LIVE 💕
Love your top!! Is this a pattern?
Would you ever consider doing a pattern spotlight focusing on menswear patterns?
Hope you’ll feature Denmark’s How to Do Fashion in your next blog
❤
Thanks for watching ❤️
Interesting
Might you have any recommendations for navy ribbed knit fabric company I live in United States California and can’t seem to find ?
What pattern are you wearing?
😓 'promo sm'
I love the top you're wearing! I haven't finished the video, but hopefully you mention it...
