10 Things I WILL Be Buying in 2025 To Improve My Life During My LOW-BUY Year!
I have seen a lot of videos recently on Things I Refuse to Buy in 2025 and since I am in the middle of a no spend month and I am a person who is on a savings quest, I have enjoyed these videos and will probably do one myself, but I am also the person who asks the question “How can I?” Instead of saying things like “I can’t afford”, so it got me to wondering what things will I be spending money on in 2025 and why?

      I’m sorry about that. I have gone back and forth with intro music, so no it isn’t on all of them. I have tried to keep the volume low, but maybe I will rethink using it. When I have used it, it is usually less than 50 seconds. I’m so happy you have me a second chance!

    I’ve made some big changes over the last few years…and have many more changes to go. A year ago I retired from working as a full time nightshift RN in Long Term Care where there was lots of palliative care work and death. I did this night rotation for 25 years. At the same time husband and I were raising a child that we took in as a new born after social services apprehended her from my sister and we agreed to take her in rather than have her placed into Foster Care. We adopted her at age 3. My extended family imploded over this. We have been shunned by them for 8 years now. It all became too much for me. My health is crap. I’m turning 60 this May. I retired from my nursing career, we moved to our beautiful acreage, we are raising our delightful autistic 9 year old daughter, started a vacation rental. Now…I need to regain my spiritual, physical and mental health. I’m studying stoicism and I’m putting together a day by day plan to get my health on track 😁

    Those are all very reasonable purchases. I might have to look more closely at the OURA ring. I, too, am DONE with cheap clothes, or following fashion trends, rather focusing more on basics or classic pieces. Would be interested in suggestion for retailers or brands where others like to shop for quality items. Quince and Everlane are two that come to mind for me.

    • @CarrieOnCoaching
      @CarrieOnCoaching 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I make January a clean out month. Saving $1000 means, we have eaten a lot of the same things OVER AND OVER AGAIN!! We had some bulk left from Christmas and we have had a lot less variety when it come to fruits and veggies. I have only bought the two orders of Imperfect Foods and they came to less than $500 total and our grocery budget is pretty high since I am gluten free and we only buy organic. Just cutting out a trip to Costco saves us $500.

    I had to take a different path. When I was 11 my mum donated every toy I had and told me I was all grown up, leading me to a lifetime of sentimentality. So I kept our boys' things until they told me they would have no trouble getting rid of my stuff while I was sorting my parent's estate and grieving. I packed their things and shipped them off, things that have now been decluttered by the boys themselves keeping me guilt free and my sanity mostly intact. I do have some favourite keepsakes.

    Empty nest is an ongoing process, collage, first jobs and apartments, marriage, starter homes, grandchildren and at each of those stages my children went through, I let go of more and more and more. It’s not a one and done, no my friends. I can’t think of one visit I have gotten from them in the last 15 years that I haven’t had a box waiting for them to go through and either take back with them or get rid of it. Sad to say but the process starts again with the grandkids, I just took a box of bath toys to Good Will because my grandson started taking showers. 😢

    It is called a functional freeze and is often a trauma response. There are many videos with somatic exercises for releasing stored trauma. Premenopausal, loss of loved ones, aging parents, empty nesting after kids who were the center of my universe has thrown me for a loop. Figuring out my next chapter with my spouse of 31 years. It is exciting, but also unsettling time.

    Oh so much of this resonates with me!! I turned 52 in November. I’ve been a stay at home mom for many years, totally enthralled in our boys’ lives, sports, events, etc. Now that we’re almost empty nesters, my life often seems mundane and without true purpose. I desperately need to re-invent myself. I think fear has been holding me back. This really inspires me to make necessary changes to find my joy again! Thank you! This month I’ve been back on my exercise schedule and I’ve started reading more than ever. Focusing on myself has been refreshing and much needed but there’s still a lot of work to do!

    Yep. Homeschool mama here. Kids grown… was really tough to get rid of the papers and art and curriculum… but I did! Have some books for grandbabies (hopefully someday) and kept what I wanted. Let go of the rest. No holding for others maybe someday… But if those stuffed animals are important to your daughter, she should take them!

      @@carrieschnug9830 I am storing plenty for my kids until they are ready for it, but I am cleaning out the mountains of clutter they don’t care about. I would never not consider my kids feelings about their childhood belongings. But the things that are kept out in my house now will be my favorites. Just like they will put things out in their houses that are their favorites. This video wasn’t about selfishness but about gaining control of your house in this new season. If you watched it all the way through, I hope you would come to that conclusion. If I made it sound otherwise I apologize. That wasn’t my intent.

    It is funny how we each are on different paths. Where so many got deeper into their religion, I also dug deeply into the Bible…made it from Genesis to Paul’s letter to the Romans…and now I’m totally deconstructing what I do and don’t believe. The shackles of fear(I was raised with biblical literalists) are lifting and I can finally breathe. I’m also getting braver and less worried about the opinions of others. Hi Carrie, I am from Scotland ,I'm 49 and still work full time as a senior carer in a care home . As much as I love my job I am very much aware that I need to maintain my fitness , I'm going to start stretching this year and use kettle bells to build my muscle . I see so many ladies at work struggle through not exercising and they are ten years older than me , I really feel for them as they really do struggle physically . I agree so much with you everything we do just now should be for the benefit of our older selves . Thank you for your advice .
