The bread is beautiful! I thought the flannel plaid really made the hoodie special, and the sweater was also really nice. I do think, however, that the Barbie and Ken clothes stole the show. I bet your granddaughter is beside herself. You really outdid yourself. I remember making a suit for Ken when my daughter was little and it was work. For the life of me I couldn't find brown buttons to match the fabric, so I ended up taking a sharpie marker to white ones. It is amazing the lengths we will go to for the people we love. You must be so pleased with all your work. I hope your grandson loved his emotional chicken! I recently saw a patchwork chicken on Pattern Review with a link to the video and pattern. Your grandson’s shirts are adorable; I bet he’s going to love them. Thank you for the recommendation of using the Shout wipes for removing chalk color. I have a white, yellow, and red one and messed up a white doll top with the yellow. I washed that thing so many times with so many different products before I finally got the yellow out. It was a present for the little girl next door, and I knew I could make another one, but was really annoyed with myself. I can’t imagine how stressful it must have been for you. That pattern looks very similar to a lot of tops I made in the 80's! 😁 The days of Flashdance and the Jane Fonda aerobics video haha. (yes, I had one) I was lucky enough to live between to Hancock's stores in the Denver area, and loads of fabrics went under the needle for myself, husband and two boys. I really like your gray top! With a little more stretch those sleeve probably would work 😘 I tried to copy the outline of one of my favorite long-sleeved tees once and used a cotton jersey. I made it up and could hardly bend my arms! 😲 On closer examination, the RTW top was actually in a microrib 😆😆 And salvaging it is what I did! (cut a different pattern with short sleeves). The chicken is beyond adorable. I know it's supposed to be a gag gift, but I think your grandson is going to love it. Great save on the sweatshirt! It looks nice on you.. Tight sleeves is my pet peeve, so I totally get why you tweaked it. I also like to alter items that aren't just right. After you've spent your time and money making it, you really want to use it especially when you love the fabric. I've finished my Rhapsody blouse and an almost finished with a wrap front top (New Look 6601) . I just have to sew on buttons and topstitch the binding down again. I had too much tension on the thread the first time and it wasn't laying smoothly. The fabric was "ephemera envelopes" from Hobby Lobby. My husband loved that fabric so that's why it jumped the queue. I'm going to have to figure out how to post on instagram without downloading the app on my phone. Mr. Zuckerburg plays too fast and loose with personal information for my liking so I'll have to make an effort to do it on the laptop. It's just so much more fun to sew than figure out things on the computer. I can't wait to find out what your grandson thinks about his emotional chicken. I hope you'll share his reaction after Christmas. I hope your sewing is very successful this week. Making repeats sure made mine a lot more successful and sometimes I just need a win or two.

If your weather there is anything like it is here, you're definitely going to have to wait to wear it. I just have a few handles left to put on my set of shopping bags. I found this gorgeous Michael Miller fabric at the thrift store that just has to be a new Rhapsody top. It's a little heavier weight than I normally use for a Rhapsody, but I've made another one out of this weight fabric before and just faced the front neckline and it worked out so well. The fabric has feathers in different shades of green with a hint of a blue undertone occasionally' it jumped straight to the front of the sewing queue. Lately my sewing is all over the place. I sure hope you'll be able to wear your beautiful coat soon!

@@nadinewoods6971 Thank you, Nadine. I believe I will get to wear it. I’d like to wear it some in December but it may be Jan and Feb. I have a few things I want to add to it before I add the final two buttons. Those raw edges really bug me. I remember that look in the early 2000’s. I will see my friend that owns Artist Endeavors next week and we will develop a plan for the wool appliqué. Those buttons are beautiful and sometimes I’m amazed what matches from my stashed buttons. I guess I bought for years to prepare for retirement! Fabric stores appear to be struggling. One of my favorites is closing. I hope someone might purchase it and care on; it’s fabulous! The owner is retiring. I will be dropping by next week to shop a little. Your projects sound wonderful. I wish we could see pictures of our commenter’s makes.

Thank you for sharing the close ups of your sweater. You've done some really lovely work! It must be substantial to take so long to dry. I bet it will be so warm and wonderful to wear this winter. I went down the rabbit hole of looking at knitting patterns for chickens. I was blown away by how many there are! The emotional support chicken pattern seems to be really popular. I think your grandson is going to love it. Your other grandson's sweater is also really nice. You have been so productive! I can't speak for others, but I really enjoy seeing your knitting projects. I even learned that natural fibers need to be soaked after a project is finished; I didn't know that. I finished my tie front top and it looked awful. My husband said maybe it'll look better if I got rid of those ties. He was right of course. They seemed rather wide and just overpowered the shirt. I followed the pattern instructions exactly and even measured the seam allowance marked on my throat plate to make sure I was sewing it properly. (We put a new after market throat plate on the Singer 201 with seam allowances and I'd never actually checked to make sure it was accurate.) The fabric is an unusual shade of green so I knew there was no way I was going to find narrow ribbon or shank buttons to match, so I just covered some buttons and then made loops. It looks fine now, but it's not the vision I had intended to recreate. I did alter the pattern and it fits okay, but I don't generally have great results with raglan sleeve tops. I'm working on some foldable shopping bags now. Sewing straight seams is a lot easier on the treadle so this is an easy way to improve my treadle skills. My sewing stuff is still packed up awaiting repairs. The leaks been fixed, but the repairs have been put off waiting for the contractor to finish up another project. My machines are still set up so I'm going to keep sewing as long as I can.

First, you are a genius! We had to move our visit to my friend to this week, and she absolutely loved the frozen meals. I was surprised at how happy they made her. She even liked them better than the flowers. I found glass containers that are freezer and oven proof so all she has to do is pop them in the microwave. Thank you for taking the time to help me; you absolutely made her 91st birthday special! I can’t believe you are knitting a chicken. I am so looking forward to seeing your grandson’s finished chicken. I like purple too. Maybe that will motivate me to practice knitting again. I loved both blouses. The contrast fabrics really make the design. Those released pleats are not uncommon in Burdastyle magazine patterns. I normally follow Burda instructions, but I think I would have just done the traditional collar method. Maybe the stitching through all thicknesses does stabilize it more and help with the shaping, but it doesn’t sound fun. I think I like your second one with the back seam and darts best. The seaming and darts look so intentional; no one would ever guess that it wasn’t planned. You always choose such creative projects. As to stabilizing your coat, I found some vintage extra fine twill tape at a thrift store that is amazing. The twill tape I buy today is not nearly as finely woven and is a little bulkier. If you ever see any older twill tape that says extra fine, be sure to buy it as you won’t be disappointed. I haven’t tried the fine twill tape at Wawak yet, but I will be getting it with my next order. I think stabilizing will be a good idea for that fabric. In moving furniture to accommodate the treadle, we encountered problems that are likely plumbing issues in one wall that backs up to both bathrooms on one side and my sewing room on the other. I have a shelving unit on that wall that contains most of my sewing resources. Now everything is packed away so the plumber will have access from that side. Needless to say, there won’t be too much sewing for a while. I think the treadle will have to live in the living room for the time being, so I will still be able to sew some. It took a little getting used to treadling, but I am getting better, and it is so much fun. My tie front shirt is almost done. I just have to gather in the neckline and sew on the collar/yoke. Oh, I’ll have to sew the snaps on the modesty panel, too. Hopefully, I can finish that tomorrow. Perhaps now would be a good time to pull out the knitting needs and work on improving my skills. One thing is for sure; if I can’t sew, I’ll be highly motivated to get back to sewing the minute my sewing room is back to normal.

I think my grandson will enjoy the joke🥰 I had to order the stay tape I wanted to use. It reminds me of hem tape that was sold years ago; you could buy a lace or a satin-like solid tape. You see these packages sometimes in antique stores around me. I imagine this is similar to what you described. I’m going to cut out my coat and get as far as I can with what tape I have.
