I always enjoy your videos because you're such an adventurous seamstress. This sparked so many ideas in my head you just couldn't imagine. I know you didn't recommend using a fat quarter for this design, but I've had my eye on a fat quarter at hobby lobby that is just so beautiful, but I never bought it because I had no idea what to do with it. I searched all over the store thinking that the same fabric would be sold by the yard, but I only found fat quarters. While it probably wouldn't work for this type of piecing, I could still make a yoke or short sleeves or something. Why didn't that occur to me??? I wish I was better at thinking outside the box. I think your top is so cute! I agree about wearing the darker jacket with it. The dark fabric highlights your contrast panel better. I can see why you're still working on summer things because it's still pretty warm here, too. All I've done is mending and repairs. My cutting table is holding the prototype for my new treadle top. We've finally worked out all the specifics and have the prototype to use as a pattern to cut the butcherblock. I do have a New Look pattern traced and ready to cut. It's a raglan sleeve tie front top that I added a modestly panel to because I want to wear it as a shirt and not as a jacket. I've also been a bit down thinking about everyone who's dealing with the aftermath of Helene and now Milton. I still have one friend without electricity, but she is staying with family until it gets fixed. Sewing will probably be good for me, Maybe I should just cut out on the kitchen table. Thank you for sharing this; it was just what I needed today.

I see utility trucks headed south all the time; today I passed about eight from Salt Lake City heading toward TN and no telling where they’re going to help. Amazing how American’s step up. We take on each other’s burdens.
Love the top Cheryl! really cool way to incorporate a good print. I agree the darker denim is for sure better and yes to taking it in under the arms just a bit more.
@@thebigsewalong Thank you for watching. I looked today for more linen. I have a hard time finding blends with color other than white, black, navy, or cream. If I go to expensive fabric stores, I can usually find pretty pinks, reds, greens, and orange colors (varying degrees of these shades). Also, I’m looking at 100% linens😊
@@bluegrassdreams2seams510 same here especially at this time of year. I find more colors in the spring but the palette is still limited. I look at tessuti fabrics in Australia sometimes and they usually have a pretty good selection but $$$ expensive and the shipping! No way! 😂
