For rock and metal , I generally Hi-pass everything up to 500Hz sometimes more. I find that if I get too much "Drums" in the overheads , the drums get muddy/boxy , especially the faster the tempo is. I let the shell mics and room mics take care of the body and glue. I like your approach to cymbals on Reggae.

I bought it without hearing it so I'll have to go through it to clean pots and I'll check the areas that you pointed out. In your video. There is no mention of using a Variac to bring your repair amp up to power. Did you use one? I intend to bring the amp I have up slowly with a Variac to make sure there are no funky issues before playing through it. The Standby toggle switch on mine is stuck in "On". Wow, I hear significant differences on good headphones. API was tight and accurate sounding. SSL was solid, with a significant lift in the top frequencies (did you use it completely flat eq?). Camden messed with the low frequency transients, sounding woofy like boosting a bass eq. 511 was very saturated, almost overdriven, but with a modern character (did you use the "silk" knob?). Audioscape was way more compressed with significant top-end roll off. 1073 was super punchy in the low end with larger than life high mids. Very hifi "studio" sound.
