    Excellent tour!
    Right to the point. This, this and this. Shows everything and exit, stage right.
    Time is so valuable. So many studio tours drone on and on and on. Your's should be the template for how to do it. Fist bump.

    Nice place! I like your videos because i'm producing reggae music too. I'm building a little home studio to record some percussion and melodica for my riddims. I wish the next year i can realese some music. Where can i hear some of your music?

    I'm doing up a room similar in size.. any issues with the drums in the corner like that? I find this would be an easy way to get in and out from behind the drums and take advantage of space constraints. I'm assuming a bit of absorption out front, to the sides and overhead seems to kill most reflections and give you usable sounds.

    • @thirdislandproductions9708
      @thirdislandproductions9708  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Thanks for commenting. Yeah, the amount of absorption I have in the room helps a ton. It's a pretty dead kit. But that's what I'm going for. I do mostly Reggae and for that genre it's common to have dead sounding drums with no room coloration. My OH's usually are pretty low in my mixes. This is because again with mixing reggae drums you want it super tight. It might not be the best if you are wanting big sounding drums. But I haven't ran into any issues sound wise. You can look at some of my other videos highlighting my drums and There's some moments when you can hear the Raw kit and be the judge.

      @@thirdislandproductions9708 Good points thanks. I am a hard rock drummer, always going for that big sound and powerful crashes but i also find that my overheads go down in a mix quite a bit so it becomes about control. I think for small home based studios, dead is better, big huge obnoxious 80's reverb can be added after the fact!

    • @thirdislandproductions9708
      @thirdislandproductions9708  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For sure no problem. I recommend trying to mess with the distance between your OH's Mics and The Kit. Obviously the farther away they are, the more room noise you will get but if cymbal loudness is an issue, that will certainly help. @@Polentaccio
