Hey GC 204, What brand name is your multi USB is that? Ty
Please do this for the 447
Several years ago I purchased one of these. Stock, it drifted too badly to be of any use to me. My basement is not really heated and temp can range from 16C to 22C, and exacerbated thermal drift. Eventually, I replaced the crystals and the crystal tuning network with a thematically controlled frequency generator, which I control with a microprocessor. Now I stay right on frequency. I do not use the internal switching power supply as it generates way too much heat, as Galaxy has provided no way to get rid of the heat. One day, if I can figure out a way to neatly punch holes in the outer casing, I'll add an extract fan. I do not like modifying the clarifier to address the drift issue as then, "everyone " is off frequency, I prefer to fix the cause. Thanks for the video.
Nature of the beast when dealing with Galaxy and RCI. They are drifters right from the factory, this is why I gave up on those brands. It’s either a Stryker, Yaesu or Icom for me sir. 73👍🏻
Why don’t they just do all that at the factory why would they sell a cb radio that’s not on the cb band wtf
@@pg86131314 These are not CB radios my friend, they are 10 meter band amateur radios.
I watched your video but I'm confused did you have to do a special tune that you didn't show to get that what to do 50 Watts on a.m. or does the radio come doing that kind of power once you do the frequency conversion? I've been wanting to buy one of these radios so I'm interested to learn.. hope to get a reply thanks
There is an NPC switch on the radio that limits or opens the peak wattage. They are really clean at about 40 watts peak, but with a few adjustments 50 watts can be achieved and the waveform is still clean on the oscilloscope. They are decent radios for the price but I personally have no desire in owning one. 73
This is great content. I just bought a Lincoln ll+ second hand in mint / refurbished condition from Walcott. They say they did a peak and tune package and updated the software. I hope that wasn't all snak oil. I really like this channel man !
@@gregmacklin9758 Thank you for tuning in sir. 73👌🏻
@GroundControl204 Any time, bro.. And while I got ya , how can a guy get ahold of you to get some work done.?
@@gregmacklin9758 It all starts with an email sir. Groundcontrol204@icloud.com
@GroundControl204 Man, that's fantastic, brother . I've got a Texas Star 250 1992. I'm not sure if it's a good fit for the Lincoln ll + , but I won't mind sending the amp to you just to make sure it's working right.. Your contact is really appreciated on this end. I'm going to figure out the cloud and see what you think . A big 76 to ya.
Well well. Looks like I just found a new source to help me decide on a new radio for my second vehicle. I really like the way you shoot straight. I’m a retired airline pilot, 77, and just returning to CB after many years. No doubt about it, I am learning that I have a lot to learn. Right now, I’m running a President McKinley with a heater on vehicle # 1. It took me awhile, but finally I have a very tight, and clean signal. I run a Wilson mag mount. SWR is kinda high at 1.7. Looking at a new Stryker, or the new President for vehicle #2. Does Stryker have an auto squelch? Thanks in advance man.
Man , i wish I had seen this sooner . Watching you has taken some of the mystery out of understanding the principles of the sine wave. Reading about is one thing , bit what you just demonstrated is worth a thousand words .you've just inspired me to get back into the hobby . I apriciate your excellent content brother.
Is this not just a rebranded Vero VGC-N7500??
Yes it is a clone.
Good stuff as always! What’s your lead time on a tune up/repair?
I stopped all repair work 7 years ago. Tune ups, customization, and mods only. Most times I keep faithful to a 5 business day turn around.
@@GroundControl204 oh nice okay well I can probably just get the final swap it myself then have you work your magic so it pairs well with my amp if that works for you.
Do u sell these?
No sir, customers have their radios shipped to me from the retailer.
Another radio fixed up properly and another job well done.
Thanks Travis, hope all is well brother. 73
This looks like a copy of the VGC VR-N7500, but without the remote access capability that the VGC does.
Yes, it is a clone of the N7500.👌🏻
Great job correcting that radio, they are good talkers. 73’s
Thanks for tuning in. 73🤙🏻
I see u have a few new pieces on the bench
Yeah brother, got some other equipment too on the bench behind me. Getting things back together once again. 73
My bother from another mother. I am glad you showed this as I have one similar to this and I just ordered a cheaper studio michrophone for a trial from Amazon. I have been using my d 104 with it and every one says I am load but wanted to be better sounding. It will be deli cred today and I will be on air with it hopefully this evening. I love the info from. You . Keep up the great work my brother. Airwolf in the carolinas, 73 's my brother. We need to get together so.e day.
Nice brother, you will have fun with the mixer and studio mic. Waving at you Airwolf and thank you for the support.👋🏻
Nice work. Wish I could get my junker 148 to look that nice. I have a question maybe you could answer. When I transmit on AM, my voice comes through the speaker. (like it would with talkback) SSB is not affected. Someone who wasn't 100% sure said it's one resistor added. But I don't know if they meant a resistor was added that caused the issue, or one should be added to make it go away. If I knew I could likely do it myself but I have no idea where to start. Person I got it from said it was "working fine and in great shape when he stopped using it last year" which is likely bullshit considering the condition it's in! It probably has been tampered with at some point, there is a non factory drill hole in the back but no switch or wires there. thanks!
Where are you located. Do you do radio tunes for anyone.
I’m in the Washington DC area, and yes my services are for the public. Everything starts with an email sir. Groundcontrol204@icloud.com
I have a few fatboy amps that could use a little upgrading.. those tiny wires get hot as hell in there and I’m getting some feedback after keying down on one of the 4 pills any of this something you’d be interested in working on?
Whenever you are ready just contact me by email. Groundcontrol204@icloud.com
@@GroundControl204 it said address not found when I tried to email you
@@ChristiannTyler recheck your spelling sir, that’s my only email and also I’ve gotten plenty of other emails already today so for sure this is my email address. Groundcontrol204@icloud.com
@@GroundControl204 I emailed you no rush just curious if you received it or if it’s still not going through
Can the 955 be turned down enough to use with a Texas star 667v and still work properly?
Yes but it has a built in 2290 driver as well so they say keep the input low. Thought about buying a Stryker 955V2 but wasn’t sure if the newer ones can be adjusted down to be compatible?
@bobbywhitt8830 Oh ok, so you have the low drive version, which max peak should not exceed 25 watts from the radio. Yes, the Stryker can be turned down to meet those specifications.
Just got my KL703 today. You say to open it up and clean up any extra flux or solder. There's one of those stickers on the back of my amp that says the warranty is void if it is broken or missing. So how do I open the bottom without violating the warranty? So should I check it out first by putting it through its paces to make sure everything is working properly before opening it up? Just wondering,,, Nice video though.....
If you don’t want to void the warranty, just hook it up and have fun buddy. I’m just meticulous with my equipment before I power them up. 73
O.K. Much thanks for the reply.
I think I've only seen a couple of your videos so far so I haven't seen any repair videos yet. Is this something you do I bought a 2950 last year and found out after i got home that the previous owner had pulled a diode to give it wide open talk back. I would like to have the radio repaired and if possible get it tuned to work to drive my 667 cleanly.
I stopped repair work about 7 years ago sir. Now I just mod and customize radios.
@@GroundControl204 Cool I can understand that thanks for the reply 😁
I have 2 HR 2510s original owner since 1989. I need tobget caps changed Posslly new Finals. 1 powers on but want key. The other want power on. Theey have been in storage onw since 95 the other since 2003. I didn't have a vehicle I could mount them in. (Full Console) I now have a gen5 4 runner I can do a nice dash mount. I love how you did this and the respect you had for it. DM the approx cost (worst case) to repair an re-tune both. I also want LED light conversion (RBG) if possible orange if not. I run 11M SSB.
the irf 520's are good for around 50 watts, irf 530's are good for around 70 watts and they are a direct replacement.
Una ventolina e tutto ok
Hello. How do I get in touch with you to see about sending you a qt40 14:32
Everything starts with an email sir. Groundcontrol204@icloud.com
So what is the difference between this radio and the Anytone...? Looks and acts the exact same.
It is the same chassis and set up as the anytone Aries ll. Honestly, I prefer Radioddity. 73
I was thinking of digging out my Black Water hat. Now, I gotta do it. :)
Good eye brother, it was a pretty good priv sec company until… Well, I’m sure you know the stories. 73
I'm confused ? @ 6:50 you said, " Two meter conversion " ? I reviewed it a couple times, and pretty sure that's what you said ? So how's that ? 🤔...?
It was a simple verbal mistake, most know I meant 11 meters concerning the conversion.☑️
@@GroundControl204 O.K. understood ! Thanks ! Any thoughts on my second question, about the distorted receive on these President Lincoln 2 Plus radios ?
@@sleeve8651 If you could email me a video of exactly what you are experiencing I could help diagnose the issue better. Groundcontrol204@icloud.com
Wish my QT40 did 50 watts AM. My Nissei RS-27 shows like 13-14 watts but then again I don't know how to get more out or it.
It’s all about the tune up sir. 73👋🏻
Is there any reason I couldn’t put that resistor on a micro switch to be able to easily put it back to 10m ?
Unnecessary work because you don’t lose 10 meters after the conversion.
@@GroundControl204 ah ha. Perfect. Thanks for clarifying. That’s ideal. I’ll be using 11m now and 10m later. Awesome. Subbed. Thanks again bro.
Can you mount a frequency counter on top of radio?
It has a built in frequency counter sir.☑️
good video
Thanks for tuning in sir. 73👋🏻
How do you keep these radios from getting hot
When they are peaked and tweaked to the max is when these rigs tend to heat up too much, don’t use any technician that does not use an oscilloscope to tune radios. 73
What would be considered over volting the rm Italy? I have 2 power supplies a 14.5 and a 13.8 would you recommend running them on the 13.8?
Anything pass 18 volts is definitely not good for the RM3 mosfets
@@GroundControl204 thanks I don’t have anywhere near 18v I’m using a president McKinley with 203 driving a 4x2879c or I just drive it with the Lincoln and cruise it but I have a 2x2879c what would you recommend to turn my 2 pill into a driver? Would it be into an 8 pill?
@@ChristiannTyler Just to stay safe, 2 pill can drive the 8 pill but make sure the 2 pill has a variable and keep the variable all the way down and let that 8 pill swinnng brother.
@@GroundControl204 ooo unfortunately it does not have variable neither of them do so what are my options? I have a kl503 and 503hd but I’d prefer not to use those as a driver I like my Lincoln and Stryker as drivers into the 2 pull to get on 10 meter would I need to sell my current 2 pull and get a new one?
@@ChristiannTyler You could always send it to Gatekeeper, he’ll slap a variable on it for you. His link is below 👇🏻 youtube.com/@1883GotDown?si=YPSnRAzDtutYudMG
Hell yeah buddy 👍
I know you did this video a while back just wanted to say I appreciate it and I've adjusted my radio according to your specs and I've already had feedback from people saying by sound better so thank you very much
High five brother, thanks for tuning in and dropping a comment. 73
👍
Thanks for tuning in. 73
*Can a Stryker SR-955h be Modified just a Stryker SR-655 can?* *Is there a Advantage one Vs the Other?!?*
They are both the same type of radio and have the same mods. But the 955 has sideband mode and the 655 is strictly for AM & FM.
Ive come to the right place... 73 de KF4LBG
Thanks for tuning in sir. 73👋🏻
I like the MFJ digital meter. Guess I'm going to have to order myself one now.
It gets the job done for sure. 73
I have a lincoln 2+ in my Subaru Forester and I get a lot of static. What could be causing this?
Make sure that antenna is grounded to the chassis of the vehicle, use ferrite cores on power wires to the radio and wire the radio directly to the battery. This will help against static that the car’s electrical system can cause in your transceiver. 73
@GroundControl204 Where do I find the ferrite cores for the power wires to the radio which you suggest?
@sgsjdmst Mix 43 ferrite is what you need. Amazon, EBay, RFparts.com
Thank you @@GroundControl204
That radio Is sounding good 👍💪. I just got a Stryker 655hp V2 do you recommend the astatic mic for this radio? I'm running it in my semi and what's the best position to run the power nob and mic gain nob? Thanks for the upload very informative.👍
I recommend the Ranger SRA-198 microphone, a great match for the Stryker. If you aren’t using an amplifier then I suggest keeping the power knob all the way up and the mic gain all the way up as well.
@@GroundControl204 will do I appreciate the recommendation 👍 no amp seems like this radio has enough power to reach out and touch someone 😂 have a great one thanks again.
Could be run with a RCI-2995DX CF ? With RF Power turned down ? I have no amp switch.
No sir, way too much peak wattage even with the RF power all the way down on your radio.
@@GroundControl204 what if I could switch amp off?
Yes of course, you could run the external amp if you had the switch installed sir.
@@GroundControl204 wow, THX for responding to me.
@@GroundControl204 This question was right on time, just ordered this exact unit about 30 minutes ago. And I am running the new RCI 2995DX HP but I have the power switch to shut the amp down to 1 to 5 W dead key. With a 15 W to 28 W PEP bird...⚡️👍
Is this the same as the anyone ares II? They look exactly alike.
Yes, same board and chassis, very little difference between the two. 73👋🏻
