As always another great video from the GC station. I've owned a few of these over the past decade and I must agree they're great radios but... (for their time) When in proper working order they do have an impeccable receive. Extremely low noise floor; them and the old DAK 9's and 10's. I still love the styling of them but like 204 says their decades old technology. I'm still hoping we will someday see a Stryker base unit about the size of a 2647 or a 7300.
I'm glad to here someone besides myself preach against installing a talk-back circuit because they never function quite right. And for anyone that would ever attempt this with any transceiver that shares the same board as the RCI 2950/70, 2527 or the like you'll be highly disappointed! Get an external mixer or even a watt meter that has a headphone jack built in.
Gone are the days of installing echo boards, noise toys, talk-backs etc into a nice radio. Either buy a mixer/eq with echo already a factory option or build a project box that goes online with the mic. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE PLEASE GET OFF THE POWER MICS!!! A studio mic is the way to go.
Mike!!! PLEASE STOP TWISTING MY ARM TO GET A 955/V2!!! 🤨😞😣😖😬😡 It's starting to get painful!
    😭😭😭

My brotha from another mother, great job as usual. I paid $150 for my 2000 and had to do some work to her to get her right. But thanks to you videos and work she does just fine. Great job and 73's my friend on that end. I am back in the bushes.

Wow just found your channel a few days ago looking for ideas in my ham radio repair endeavors and I just picked up my parents' 2000gtl that has been owned by them since they bought it new in the 80s. Been hooked up all these years and used often. It has had a few mods done and probably in need of a returne again.. once I get a scope I'm hoping to follow this video for a tune. So happy I found this channel!!

Roger that, very cool scenario to have that passed down to you from your parents. Thanks for tuning in 👋🏻

What a difference!! For the technology of the day, it isn't too bad. But I can see where the newer technology is far better. Great job Ground Control 204.

Hey, I wish these base stations were as good as Stryker then I would actually want to own one. 73

Great job cleaning that rig up, I have one myself but I’m always on my Stryker 655. You just can’t beat a Stryker, highly agreed.
