Tubliss Inner Bladder Failure on the Trail? Here is a trail repair to save your ride.
Recently on a multi-day ride in Idaho, we suffered a inner bladder failure on a Tubliss system. Here is a simple solution to keep you riding only requiring you to carry a spare, 21" tube, your tool pouch (which you should always carry) and some tire levers.

Got to do what you have to do when your out on the trail. Good fix, I personally would have tried a small patch if you had one than cut up a tubliss , but I understand. Thanks for sharing.
I also have a 22 350 and on the fence between the IMS 3.2 and the Acerbis 3.9. I like the fact the IMS has the brass fittings. Any issues with Acerbis?
@@brianlarsen9216 thank you for watching. I’ve had no issues with the Acerbis and the bike has nearly 3k miles on it with the tank. Fit and finish are great and imo a bit better than the IMS. Hope this helps
Tour bikes suck anyway. that bike will go more places then any tour bike. Tour bikes are just Harley’s with dirt tires just look at the BDR routes they are so easy.
While I appreciate anyone comments, you obviously haven't heard of the Tour of Idaho.
Your video shows that you might have a TSP compression head and haven't relocated the fuel injectors. I would like to know if an ECU reflash is enough for long-term reliability or if you recommend that I install an injector relocation kit. Thanks for your help!
Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, I do have the TSP High Comp Head and the TSP tuned ECU (Not the ERM setup as this was released after I installed the ECU and head). I have had excellent reliability with this combo, and currently the bike has just over 180 hrs. I plan on a top end over the winter and I will post about the wear discovered. The TSP is likely the best on the market for the TPi bikes and even the newer TBi bikes. It runs great. Check them out at slavensracing.com/shop/ecu-reflash-module-erm-by-two-stroke-performance/ Slavens Racing sells the ERM version and the head. If you want to send your ECU to TSP and have it re-flashed and (No ERM) check out sbmotoperformance.com/ Hope this helps! Summary, yes in my opinion it has added to the longevity of my TPi bike.
My 21’ TX300i ran perfectly all weekend. I wash it and put it up for next weekend. Then all of a sudden it won’t start. Turns over but won’t hit. FI light flashes 4 Long + 2 Short. Manual says oil pump. Any ideas?
Thanks for reaching out. Did you take the tank off when you washed it? If so did you fully re connect the fuel fitting ? The bike should run even if the oil pump had failed, not for long though…You’ll get an error code as you described. Check all the connections for water intrusion is the best place to start. Hope this helps.
Will do . Thanks for response.
Love to see more about KTM 350 EXC-F for these type of trips vs.the 500 EXC-F.
Fascinating! Thanks for sharing.
I am selling my 690 for a 350 exc. Great info. Blows me away u went thru 3 tires. I am on Motoz now and would think I could get the full length with 1 set. But that's speculation on my part
Bud's Pro Tire paste makes sample packets you can take in your pack. It's something I wish I had when installing my tires when going tubliss. You can also get the tubliss inner tubes if you want to fix it all the way on the trail.
Are these like the 500exc that can go forever with proper oil changes/maintenance, or not as robust or long lasting type motor?
I've got nearly 4k miles on mine with only regular maintenance and valve adjustment/checks with zero issues. The 350 engine in the EXC platform is a bit different internally as compared to an SX version. Stainless valves vs. Titanium valves for one. If taken care of, it should give many miles of fun! Thank you for watching and commenting.
I see what you did but I really don’t understand your logic. Why wouldn’t you guys be carrying extra Tubliss Inner Bladders for both the front and rear? Yeah, you made a hack and made it out but destroyed a perfectly good rim lock in the process. Doesn’t make sense.
Good point taken and we certainly could have taken extra bladders. But what if you have a failure of the red liner? You would need to have tube to replace the entire system. We planned ahead in the event a total failure occurred. We used what we packed and it worked great and I would do it again. Appreciate your comment in the meantime.
ive replaced it 3 times already on my 2022 the 300i and going to be replacing again soon looking into a Dif solution this time though
@@BlueDreamtoken I’ve wondered if maybe harsh cleaning chemicals deteriorate the rubber. I’ve installed the NiceCNC version and it really isn’t any different than the Oem and it’s made in China….good thing it’s not a difficult repair and not very expensive. Thanks for watching and commenting
Good luck out there! I’ve got a team of 4 that’ll be 2 weeks behind ya on G3
Best of luck. Follow the R’Idaho FB page. I provided some details about what you’ll expect the later part of D1. Bring a chainsaw
@@code4performance I’m on there, but haven’t seen anything to specific to G3 D1 with the exception of the trail closings due to the fires
Great walkthrough. Totally agree with all - TPI great setup...have 400+ hours on mine also have a 24 TBI and a well tuned TPI is just as good. Also agree with you on the Trailtech, great set up. You've done a great job with that entire setup - good luck and have fun!
Thank you for the kind reply!. What is your TBI, an XC or XC-W.?
@@code4performance I have both an XC and an XCW. I'm mostly on the XCW, love that bike!!!
I enjoyed watching your trip review and post ride video from two years ago. Looking forward to seeing more of this year's trip!
Good luck out there Scott, I'm missing Idaho!
@@JeffStoess thank you, Jeff. It’s going to be a challenge with some active fires creating re routes. Mindset is just to have fun and take it all in. Come back and ride soon!

Awesome setup and super-helpful walkthrough. I'm curious how you would approach luggage if minimal camping gear plus one day of food+water were added. Larger side bags, a duffle on top, or something else? Thanks much, and have a great trip!
Thank you for reaching out!. We could have camped off the bike but elected not to for the exact reason you ask about. Wanted to keep it as light as possible and still be rideable like a dirt bike when the going gets tough. Check out Mosko Moto luggage, they have some killer bags and top pouches. Giant Loop also has a possibles pouch you can lash on the top of the bags. There are some super lightweight sleeping bags, tents and mattress pads out there that would be very packable. For water, I would carry a filtration kit and filter the water you need and then Jet Boil stove with the Mtn. House backpacking foods. IMHO is all! Thank you again for commenting.
@@code4performance Yes, thank you -- appreciate your insight. I've downsized from a GS with Mosko 35L Backcountry panniers to a lightweight 500 setup in line with your build. I am experienced with ultra-lightweight bikepacking gear, and am now working through the tradeoffs of volume/weight and where/how to carry on the 500 platform. The Mosko Reckless 40 & 80 are great options even if some minor weight penalty for round-the-world quality. Also a big fan of Jetboil + Mtn House.
Just looked at mine today. 160 hours. Mine cracked in the exact same place your customers did
Where’s this at?
Why no recluse clutch?
Its personal preference really. Rekluse clutches are great for sure. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great wrap up. I don't have the KTM 350 anymore but was trying to get a set of the same googles with photochromatic lens setup. Any resources you could share. Thanks.
Have you checked on Klim's website? That is where I purchased them from. Thank you for watching
@@code4performance I did. I got confused because I guess the name has changed...maybe. But I did find them. Thanks.
How does the power input go into that fuse box from the Taco relay kit?
Thanks for reaching out. The outlet power and ground from the Taco relay has one wire for the ground which I extended near the relay creating three small gauge (20 or 18 gauge) wires for each accessory device. I did the same for the power into the fuse block. I used a butt connector designed for one end accepting a larger wire and then heat shrink protected the non insulated connector. You can find these connectors at some auto parts store, or I get mine from Waytek wire. Here is a link to the connector www.waytekwire.com/catalog/terminals/butt-connectors/external-step-down-butt-connector-38246 Hope this helps!
@@code4performance Thank you!
How technical can you go on this bike on single track mountain trails?
I completed the Tour of Idaho on this bike in 2022 which consists of miles of single track trails with some being technical. Now I will tell you it is not a hard enduro bike with how I have it set up. Could it be, yes but there are much better bikes for super technical trails. When it gets gnarly I take my 300 2T. Hope this helps. Thank you
Did you have any issues with clearance and getting the Oetiker tool up to tighten the clamp?
Its tight getting the pliers up in there, but as long as the pliers have the crimping ability on the side of the jaws, you can get them in there. It helps if you even remove the shock and mud flap and engine stays and of course the throttle body moved to the side. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching.
Do you think a lower horsepower bike like the Honda CRF300L could handle something like this?
Thank you for reaching out!. The lower horsepower is not the concern in my opinion. It would be the higher gearing of the Honda, availability of accessories and guards, etc. Mostly I think it would take too much work to make it worthy trail machine for the terrain and so many miles. Just my opinion is all.
When you went with Samco, did you do the thermostat delete? The Samco clamps are so wide that I found it impossible to get the recommended 10mm hose extension. What did you do?
Yes, I did the delete. It will run too cool if you are riding in a cooler climate, so watch your temps to you run the engine at the temp where the ECU keeps the fueling correct. In hot climates or summer riding, it is no problem. The Samco clamps are wide and if you try and get 10 mm of hose protrusion, it will never work. Just make sure the clamps are square and you have the hoses seated fully on the outlet nipples. Make sure the clamp top edge is below the bulge of the outlet nipple. Samco hoses are a great upgrade for sure, well worth the money. Thank you for watching and replying.
@@code4performance thank you!🙏🏻
Love my 350 😎
Chris, it was good to meet you and spend some time taking bikes! Come ride again next year! Thank you for watching
I put the taco get on my 22 500 and holy crap the bike is soooo much better now. Fast, responsive, smooth, power everywhere, a hill climbing freak! Best choice I made, maybe was good to have rode the 500 for 1.5 years first stock to get used to it. With the ECU mod now, I can hardly wait to get on the bike, it's like it keeps feeling new to me, that's what's so compelling about that upgrade. Should mention I did the billet end cap with silencer plug. I didn't get an fmf cuz the stock pipe with cap is more rugged for adv stuff I do.
Couldn't agree more !
Thank you, Brian!
Part number for the boot? Thx
Hello, part number for the elbow boot is 55738061060, part number for the clamp is 00050271708. Thank you for watching.
How’s that natty shock working out for you compared to stock? Been wondering if it’s worth the price.
It’s the Magic Carpet in my opinion. Well built and worth the money. Coupled with a good fork set up, of course. Thank you for watching
First
i love my 125
Great video Scott!
Thank you, Jeff!
Do you know if it will fit the 2024 KTMs?
Yes, it will. If you have an XC without the trip/odometer you won’t need to space it out like I did. There could still be some minor wire relocating involved but the holes are the same on the new chassis. If it’s an EXC or XCw you’ll need to get custom on arranging wires and spacing out the mount. Thank you for watching
I need this on a 300
Dart mount will fit on your 300
Looks like enough room for another headlight between the chainsaw base and the fender. On a trip, how much extra chainsaw fuel and bar oil do you carry?
I’ve seen guys mount a slim LED bar under the saw mount, so it can be done. As far as fuel and bar oil goes, I think it depends on your intentions for the ride and time of year. If it’s early season and you’re only going out for a day ride to “clear trail” and you have intel on a lot of downfall, then I’ll pack a backpack with a qt bottle of fuel and a quart of bar oil. Better yet make it a team effort and have buddies with saws:). If I’m going later in the season and likely not needing to use the saw frequently, I’ll carry a syringe marked in CC’s and I’ve come up with the amount needed of 2T oil and inject it into the saw tank and then siphon out of the bikes fuel tank. I then carry a small bottle of bar oil equivalent to the size or close to the saws bar oil tank. Long explanation I know. Thank you for commenting
Real deal run-down, well thought out set up ,modesty is admirable ✊️
Thank you for a kind comment. Much appreciated!!
15 hour oil change and 600 mile valve adjust!!! keep reeds in for low end back flow prevention due to cam overlap
Doing this to a new 2022 250 XC I just bought a few weeks ago from the dealership. Two years must be their life expectancy and I went ahead and bought the NiceCNC one. We'll see how long this one last.

Looks like quite the project. Must have been some sorry soul whose bike that is.
I gotta have full skid plates!!....I've heard some Insanely big rocks clunking off that guard.....I can't imagine that being my engine, no thanks.
Not sure what you’re referring to. I have a skid plate on the bike. It’s pretty “full” if you ask me. Worked great in my Idaho 13 day ride and a recent 700 mile Baja trip. AXP for the win. Thanks for your comment.
Did I hear disc golf chains in the background?? 🤔
Maybe….
Informative Vid. Have you commented or can you on the difference between your beta and tpi for slow technical terrain? bike weight feel also be helpful. thanks!
That is a great question and well thought out. The Beta has very similar characteristics as the TPi bike, but much more torque imo. Because of the torque and snappy feel of the Beta, it seemed like it equated to less weight feel. Hope this makes sense. If you could ride a TPi and a Beta back to back you would understand. The TPi is really good for sure and can be ridden all day long and not wear you out as it has such a linear powerband as compared. Thank you for watching and commenting.
It’s pronounced toepoe for short.
Who cares what others say, live for you buddy. I have the same bike and would take it anywhere
Would like, but oil change every 1000km, compare to 10,000km with my CRF300 Rally or my old 690, less interresting :(
Curious what after market battery you're running?
In the video and for the build of the bike, it was the OEM battery. If you are asking for a great replacement, you cannot go wrong with the Antigravity. Thanks for watching
