I enjoyed watching your trip review and post ride video from two years ago. Looking forward to seeing more of this year's trip!

@@JeffStoess thank you, Jeff. It’s going to be a challenge with some active fires creating re routes. Mindset is just to have fun and take it all in. Come back and ride soon!

Best of luck. Follow the R’Idaho FB page. I provided some details about what you’ll expect the later part of D1. Bring a chainsaw

@@code4performance I’m on there, but haven’t seen anything to specific to G3 D1 with the exception of the trail closings due to the fires

Great walkthrough. Totally agree with all - TPI great setup...have 400+ hours on mine also have a 24 TBI and a well tuned TPI is just as good. Also agree with you on the Trailtech, great set up. You've done a great job with that entire setup - good luck and have fun!

Thank you for the kind reply!. What is your TBI, an XC or XC-W.?

@@code4performance I have both an XC and an XCW. I'm mostly on the XCW, love that bike!!!

Awesome setup and super-helpful walkthrough. I'm curious how you would approach luggage if minimal camping gear plus one day of food+water were added. Larger side bags, a duffle on top, or something else? Thanks much, and have a great trip!

Thank you for reaching out!. We could have camped off the bike but elected not to for the exact reason you ask about. Wanted to keep it as light as possible and still be rideable like a dirt bike when the going gets tough. Check out Mosko Moto luggage, they have some killer bags and top pouches. Giant Loop also has a possibles pouch you can lash on the top of the bags. There are some super lightweight sleeping bags, tents and mattress pads out there that would be very packable. For water, I would carry a filtration kit and filter the water you need and then Jet Boil stove with the Mtn. House backpacking foods. IMHO is all! Thank you again for commenting.

@@code4performance Yes, thank you -- appreciate your insight. I've downsized from a GS with Mosko 35L Backcountry panniers to a lightweight 500 setup in line with your build. I am experienced with ultra-lightweight bikepacking gear, and am now working through the tradeoffs of volume/weight and where/how to carry on the 500 platform. The Mosko Reckless 40 & 80 are great options even if some minor weight penalty for round-the-world quality. Also a big fan of Jetboil + Mtn House.
