Yes there’s got to be a more practical way to find some good tones online.
Thanks a lot for the info & sharing your tones. To access these tones is the app the only way I could access or can o do it from their website ?
this absolutely helped. turning the interface gain to 0 really is the key point here. Thanks a lot!
Awesome!
Yes that is right the amp must see the correct signal level but please don't turn the gain to zero that's just bad signal to noise, use as much gain as you can in the interface to the converter and then in the logic or in the plugin itself there is an input dial just how much the input signal is more than the desired signal and reduce from either plugin input or add another volume plugin before the amp sim and please don't turn down the actual physical gain never do that, always record with as much gain you can without clipping then reduce the signal in the digital realm so you get best signal quality and the correct input level to the amp
A 12db low shelf boost is... A lot. I sometimes feel the helix stuff actually sits more naturally in a mix than others and wonder if they intentionally are lighter in the lows for that reason. May not feel as good in isolation but less post processing? I had the fractal but always felt it was super muddy unless I really cut the lows.
Great sound and playing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hum....don't adjust with the position of the knob visually. It don't mean a thing. With your old stronger setting dial back the gain knob on the plugin. In digital domain, there is no "real" gain staging so the "gain" knob on plugin don't behave like the real plugin. A plugin can be manipulated to sound even better then the real thing. Why? The IR capture is done with the best possible equipment and audio engineers. Think out of the box and experiment.
Best wishes to your dad! Always love your videos and playing, you're an inspiration and make me want to practice a lot more haha In general with the Neural stuff (as a QC owner since preorder), a proper market place like the Kemper's would truly level up the entire ecosystem. Still to this day I regularly see people who's tones I love make new Kemper packs... I think the market place is why the Kemper is still alive and won't be dead any time soon, people are invested.
I thought that it was intended to put that 12.2 headroom on the plug-ins input level. In other words, zero on the audio device, put the manufacturers published headroom in DBU at the input level of the particular plug-in. That seems to work for me when I use UA Apollo Twin driving amplitude 5 Max in standalone
Oh man, sorry to hear about your dad. Wishing him and all the family the best through the recovery!
thanks Nick 🙏🏻
Can't you just turn down the plug-in input gain until it sounds and feels right? Then you don't have to sacrifice SNR by running your audio interface suboptimally.
Yes you can, and that's the right way to do it, otherwise all the input/output knobs wouldn't be necessary!
Noooooo! Now I've got to record my entire EP guitar tracks again ! 😢
So usefull, thanks David 🙏😊
Glad it was helpful!
I think the biggest thing is that if you're not going to be creating your own captures its not worth it. However, if you do make your own captures, its a great deal. Nothing else gives you that ability in this price and format bracket.
Yea pretty much. It's kinda crazy to me that there's no built-in paid first or third party marketplace like tonex. That would circumvent some of the hesitation I think, but yea if you already have gear to capture, the nano is an incredible device!
@@DavidBeebee For me it works because I capture the preamp and total output of my gigging amps, so that I can either run this straight back into the FX return of the amps, into another power amp, FRFR or straight to the PA, or I can move these on to my Quad Cortex without risking the capture process on it (my QC got bricked by a grounding issue once). It just gives me options on how to keep the same sort of sound but having a slightly modular style of rig. I accept that my use case is not common though.
Hey Beebs. Firstly, I wish your dad a speedy recovery. Secondly, I’ve just downloaded your Deluxe Reverb capture and it’s perfect. It’s going to be my go-to clean sound on the Nano. Thanks so much! Thirdly, that intro solo is epic!
Ah mate, thanks for the well wishes. He's doing ok so far 🤞🏻 Glad you're digging the DR, yea it's really nice under the fingers! Kinda makes me wonder if all the holy grail dumbo two rock clean amp thing is really just trying to be a decent blackface fender 🧐😬 Hah You're too kind, 🙏🏻
Thanks 🎉
You're welcome 😊
Sorry to hear about your Dad. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Fantastic playing as always- love the intro jam!
Thank you Will, much appreciated!
I think there are some things the Nano does really well be it audio interfacing on the go, as you showed with the XLR input, USB-C powered, easiest capture process of all the units out there, sounds and feels great where it fell short for me in it's current state was the midi control (presets only) and midi I/O (TRS midi jack or EXP pedal), no tap tempo (having 8+ presets set to different tap tempos is not realistic), limited effects i'm confident more blocks will be added/effects, it just didn't work for me as a fully fledged potential backup unit or potential replacement for small sessions, it's on my radar for a revisit later down the line otherwise and all the best for your Dad's recovery, I lost my mother very suddenly earlier this year, I miss her dearly, so being able to still spend that time with someone despite health misfortunes is truly a gift, take care
Hey Paul condolences for your. mother, very sorry to hear that. Thank you, Dad is on the mend, it's a long road but surgery was successful. So if he can resist the pork pies and cheese a bit more going forward hopefully we'll get a few more years out of him. I'm just discovering the MIDI implementation is pretty poor, only because I was investigating tap tempo, only to find there is none at all! Something that I missed in my thought summary. So yea, I can see how as a gigging replacement/back up it would be quite lacking even trying to incorporate it into a wider pedal board. I think the only way would be to rely on the nano solely as the 'amp/IR' amongst a much bigger board handling everything else. Fortunately that is really not my personal use case, and for the hotel/practice/mobile production rig I have in mind it's pretty much in the sweet spot if they do add the comp/drive blocks. thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts, Beebs
@@DavidBeebee thanks 🙏 sounds like you just have to keep him out of Gregg's =) best wishes to you and your family in any case hopefully there'll be some updates down the line that expand on that, using the nano as just an amp/IR puts it right against Tonex where there's quite a price difference, especially with the Tonex ONE that is albeit super limited, can do that backup/single amp IR thing really well, it's great to have options in any case
@@paulbradshawguitar haha exactly, thanks. Just checked out your channel, nice work indeed. 40+ TH-cam resonated strongly haha, good luck with the journey 👍🏻
@@DavidBeebee thanks🙏glad i'm not alone in the 40+ club 😄 all the best to you too

Wishing your dad a speedy recovery and all the best to you and your family.
Much appreciated Chris.
Good luck with your family. Your legato playing reminds me of Tom Quayle.
Thanks for the well wishes. Hah, oh I'll never be at that level, but I've been very lucky to learn from and work with Tom!
Sorry to hear that, speedy recovery 🙏🙏🙏🙏
thanks James 👍🏻
please update the android version of the solo freboard app... it lacks so many features
Agree 👍
Prayers for a speedy recovery to your father brother! I've been playing that Deluxe Reverb all weekend..lol. Loving these videos, keep them coming when you have time. Your captures are A+, definitely in my regular rotation of presets on the Nano.
Thank you my friend, much appreciated. Glad you're enjoying the captures, you must have seen those go up early as I was prepping the video hah! Cheers dude 🙏🏻
Hi, the promo code is valid?
@@maxidionisi4006 this one expired, but weird coincidence, I’ve got a new video scheduled in about an hour with a new code, check back and thanks for the interest 🙏🏻
New code BBNAN is live and valid now :) thanks again
Get to the point
Can you negate this by lowering the db of D.I.'s after recording?
So I found for myself, the interface at zero was a good starting point of how Neural expects the amp to react. Knowing what it sounded like with my interface at zero, I wanted to get a lower noise floor so I could keep gates off and play with my volume knob, especially with distortion and crunch. So I found what gave me the best results was learning the taper of my interface’s input, and scaling the input down on my neural plugins. For me, I found about 10 o’clock on the instrument input of my Scarlett combined with lowering the input volume on Neural’s side to -9dB gave me awesome results.
This guy here nailed it he played it about the same as the studio version everyone that I have watched on here so far cannot play it the same put this guy here done a great job 👍
thank you for the kinda words!
Hello . Can I ask , maybe you know some lessons like your visualisation course . Like how to visualise chords and how to improvise harmony
or just turn down the input gain in the plugin...lol. silly guitar players not understanding gain staging
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY NEURAL DSP DO NOT PUT A MARK AS WHERE IN INPUT SHOULD BE IN EACH PLUGIN??
Love this lesson! As an old guy, I was lucky enough to catch the original G3 tour when it came through Philadelphia in the fall of 1996 - just wow! I went with two friends who were huge Steve Vai fans, but by the end of the concert they we floored by Eric as I had been since I had first heard him back in Texas around 1986. I too love Vai and Satch, but Eric is such a unique talent and brought such an innovative approach to the guitar, you can't help but be mesmerized. I got a chance to meet him briefly at a guitar show in Dallas in 1987 and he couldn't have been nicer - he knelt down on the floor on the convention center and showed me a couple of licks I had ask him about from the "Tones" album. Love this guy! I'm glad you mentioned "Venus Isle" from 1996 - it's a gem in it's own right!
Why would anyone use a Dumble for this sort of sound? That was not their strength.
this is just plain and simply wrong, or partially right, rhe fact you got lucky and got better sound then the wrong method is just.a lucky mistake, for anyone interested Ghost note audio has a video about amp sims and input gain that takes your sound card, your software and your guitar into account and gets results whatever card/software or guitar you're using.
Anyone know where to find something like solo for android users, im not rich i dont possess an i phone.
I have the same interface except it's the 102i. Love my tascam stuff.
Please create a course about Tom Quayle's licks in starndard tuning and how to creat those lines and how to improvise with them in standard tuning sir. I and many people will buy it.
Okay, now pick a non-gay guitar and try again
The drums are real? They sound like they are. BASS sounds phenomenal. How did you achieve this? Wow.
If you think these "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG" videos are confusing, just follow the golden rule: IF IT SOUNDS OK, IT'S F***ING OK.
Many thanks and subscribed. Was going nuts with all the unneeded noise.
David - what gauge strings are you using?
hey jack, 10-46 on my solid bodies, elixir nano web
Can I get more plugins than just their featured amps? I've seen vids that feature captures of iconic gear like a 68' plexi. I'm away from my amps on weekends so looking for something portable to maybe use with my laptop. Used to lug an amp head and a CaptorX but that's such a hassle. I have a Presonus as well.
Devs just need to add an meter at the input with "Optimal" gain for input indicated, you can use the input gain of the plugin to adjust to the correct range. It's a big miss.
Was a pleasure to build this.
Excellent, Beebs! My baby daughter immediately started dancing to that opening jam. What a great story. I remember the Time Horse episode! The Time Horse capture sounds great on the QC.
Hah, cute! Yea it's pretty good representation, glad you dig, cheers Bobby 🤟🏻🐝
