I think there are some things the Nano does really well be it audio interfacing on the go, as you showed with the XLR input, USB-C powered, easiest capture process of all the units out there, sounds and feels great where it fell short for me in it's current state was the midi control (presets only) and midi I/O (TRS midi jack or EXP pedal), no tap tempo (having 8+ presets set to different tap tempos is not realistic), limited effects i'm confident more blocks will be added/effects, it just didn't work for me as a fully fledged potential backup unit or potential replacement for small sessions, it's on my radar for a revisit later down the line otherwise and all the best for your Dad's recovery, I lost my mother very suddenly earlier this year, I miss her dearly, so being able to still spend that time with someone despite health misfortunes is truly a gift, take care
Hey Paul condolences for your. mother, very sorry to hear that. Thank you, Dad is on the mend, it's a long road but surgery was successful. So if he can resist the pork pies and cheese a bit more going forward hopefully we'll get a few more years out of him. I'm just discovering the MIDI implementation is pretty poor, only because I was investigating tap tempo, only to find there is none at all! Something that I missed in my thought summary. So yea, I can see how as a gigging replacement/back up it would be quite lacking even trying to incorporate it into a wider pedal board. I think the only way would be to rely on the nano solely as the 'amp/IR' amongst a much bigger board handling everything else. Fortunately that is really not my personal use case, and for the hotel/practice/mobile production rig I have in mind it's pretty much in the sweet spot if they do add the comp/drive blocks. thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts, Beebs
@@DavidBeebee thanks 🙏 sounds like you just have to keep him out of Gregg's =) best wishes to you and your family in any case hopefully there'll be some updates down the line that expand on that, using the nano as just an amp/IR puts it right against Tonex where there's quite a price difference, especially with the Tonex ONE that is albeit super limited, can do that backup/single amp IR thing really well, it's great to have options in any case
@@paulbradshawguitar haha exactly, thanks. Just checked out your channel, nice work indeed. 40+ TH-cam resonated strongly haha, good luck with the journey 👍🏻
Hey Beebs. Firstly, I wish your dad a speedy recovery. Secondly, I’ve just downloaded your Deluxe Reverb capture and it’s perfect. It’s going to be my go-to clean sound on the Nano. Thanks so much! Thirdly, that intro solo is epic!
Ah mate, thanks for the well wishes. He's doing ok so far 🤞🏻 Glad you're digging the DR, yea it's really nice under the fingers! Kinda makes me wonder if all the holy grail dumbo two rock clean amp thing is really just trying to be a decent blackface fender 🧐😬 Hah You're too kind, 🙏🏻
Best wishes to your dad! Always love your videos and playing, you're an inspiration and make me want to practice a lot more haha In general with the Neural stuff (as a QC owner since preorder), a proper market place like the Kemper's would truly level up the entire ecosystem. Still to this day I regularly see people who's tones I love make new Kemper packs... I think the market place is why the Kemper is still alive and won't be dead any time soon, people are invested.
Prayers for a speedy recovery to your father brother! I've been playing that Deluxe Reverb all weekend..lol. Loving these videos, keep them coming when you have time. Your captures are A+, definitely in my regular rotation of presets on the Nano.
Thank you my friend, much appreciated. Glad you're enjoying the captures, you must have seen those go up early as I was prepping the video hah! Cheers dude 🙏🏻
I think the biggest thing is that if you're not going to be creating your own captures its not worth it. However, if you do make your own captures, its a great deal. Nothing else gives you that ability in this price and format bracket.
Yea pretty much. It's kinda crazy to me that there's no built-in paid first or third party marketplace like tonex. That would circumvent some of the hesitation I think, but yea if you already have gear to capture, the nano is an incredible device!
@@DavidBeebee For me it works because I capture the preamp and total output of my gigging amps, so that I can either run this straight back into the FX return of the amps, into another power amp, FRFR or straight to the PA, or I can move these on to my Quad Cortex without risking the capture process on it (my QC got bricked by a grounding issue once). It just gives me options on how to keep the same sort of sound but having a slightly modular style of rig. I accept that my use case is not common though.

Good luck with your family. Your legato playing reminds me of Tom Quayle.
Thanks for the well wishes. Hah, oh I'll never be at that level, but I've been very lucky to learn from and work with Tom!
Thanks a lot for the info & sharing your tones. To access these tones is the app the only way I could access or can o do it from their website ?
Yes there’s got to be a more practical way to find some good tones online.
please update the android version of the solo freboard app... it lacks so many features
