One book a month of agatha christie sounds really good! I love agatha christie but it has been a while since I've read one so I really need to get back that. Ahh and will be curious to see what you think of blessings as that is one waiting for me on my shelf as well. I really liked the anime for one punch man too and the first volulume is a lot of fun. Ooh I really liked the lonely londoners by sam selvon and should read more of his books too. The Deep is fantastic! I hope you have a good time with it too. I hope the readathon is going well so far x

I, too, read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society long ago. I made a pie yesterday, potato peels would be healthier.😂

We all have ups and downs with our reading and there has been a time when I have been in the mood to get rid of all my books too! It does come and go sometimes. Have you thought about maybe rereading some books you love? I also think there is nothing wrong with taking a break from reading all together for a bit -- as your love of reading is definitely connected to your memory and thoughts of Alice as well. I feel like it is part of grieving as well. <3 Take your time with it x

Sorry would it be do able to read some of Alice’s favourites? Or too painful when my great aunt died who got me into reading died I read all her favourites and cried my way through. I also read all the children’s books she bought she left a note saying I was to have first pick off her book shelves and she left me witty words about ones when thought I should take. And that she expected me to pick a couple or ornaments to become my book ends 😂 Obviously she was a fair age and knew she was going to die du to illneee but it brought comfort to read her books 😁

Time differences and then work mean I don't get to watch this until a couple of days later, but I do watch. Just want you to know that. I'm currently reading Wild Houses. It's fine, but it doesn't feel like a Booker book to me.

Great selection. Most of these are new to me which is always exciting. Love Russell’s recommendations too but his videos are no good for my ever growing wish list!

I regularly say I hate reading and am never going to read again 😂😂 I usually focus on some non-fiction and just read it really slowly until i fancy something else again. hope you're doing ok, maybe those short books will help. xx Sian xx

I only have Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange in the stack, I too enjoyed his There There. The old books by Sherman Alexie on the First Americans experience are also wonderful writing. I want to read James, I read Trees.

Im the same when im stressed my brain just says no to reading. I find that just taking time helps ...but audiobooks are also a great thing to help getting back into them. I send hugs! Assassin's apprentice is also excellent i hope it helps

If you really don't want to read anything, maybe go back to an old comfort read? Or just don't read anything for a while until you fancy it again x I also love the smell of fresh ginger! I would say, don't pressure yourself to read at all if you don't feel like it. Things will change in time.

Oh `Charlie <3 I am exactly the same! When I am stressed I feel like I cant concentrate on a book, I usually switch to comfort audiobooks for a while but theres no pressure to read, If you dont fancy it at the moment just dont. Be kind to yourself <3

Ah Charlie, I feel so sad for you. It’s absolutely natural to be struggling to do something so closely linked to your recent loss, your grief is still so fresh. Whatever you choose to do is the right decision for you. When I have experienced bereavement I’ve tended to go for books that explore loss, like Mitch Albom’s Five People You Meet In Heaven, or something funny to change the mood (John Boyne’s The Echo Chamber springs to mind). One day at a time ❤❤

Best to go with the flow and not worry about the amount , just how much your'e enjoying it, find a good narrator and listen. I often read romance when I'm slumpy, or stressed. I used to read a lot of it when the kids were small and I wasn't sleeping, I think we can put too much stress on ourselves, I'm not reading the right books or not enough reading but in times of stress, I try and remember it's fine.

Hello Charlie, I have been where you are now. Stress, emotional turmoil, etc. have all interfered with my ability to concentrate and enjoy reading. My lovely Charlie, don't be hard on yourself. I think some of your trouble finding joy in reading is a natural process of your grieving process. It is going to take some time. 💕💕 When I have trouble reading, I read Picture Books. The art and stories help my mood. Shorter books helped. Be gently with yourself. It is perfectly fine if you read 2 books a month or even 1. Don't force anything or feel badly. Things that can work for me when my reading is slumpy is rereading an old favourite or reading short stories. And anything plotty/ page turning works for me. But like others have said try not to worry about not feeling like reading, it will come back and the books will still be there 😊📚

When I'm overwhelmed I switch to graphic novels and I take my time reading them. And I do a lot of apple podcast guided meditations
