14:06 - 😃 I love your plod along stuff, I don't naturally gravitate to women's prize books, being more of a genre based reader. But really enjoy watching everyone's Journey! I have actually got Enter ghost on my Storygraph TBR - Shakespeare, Sisters, heritage, cross culture. I was excited hearing another book tuber talk about if - hope this makes it. Will watch your live soon, to find out! 💜📚
I loved seeing your predictions!! So excited to see the list. A year is such a long time it's hard to pick - and some years we get all the books nobody has heard of!! I'm so tempted to put on some library reserves as guesses, but I'm holding tight until Tuesday!
Great to hear about your predictions! I was really excited about Riley Reid's new novel too but have seen many mixed reactions to it - so I'll be keen to hear what you think. I really hope Hidden Fires is listed as well since I Ioved her debut novel and want to read this new one. And I keep meaning to read Anna Smaill's new novel. Exciting!
I’m so behind on my Watch Later list but have to say, you did so well with your predictions!! I’m reading The Wren, The Wren at the moment and loving every minute ♥️
I love the list you made! I am a bit behind on booktube so I already know who is on it, but you made some really good selections. I am so surprised that Julia wasn't on the list and that was the only one I was absolutely confident on it being there! I really want to read it as well. I wish come and get it was on the list, that would've been nice for the author. I have come and get it but have yet to read it. You got enter ghost right! I think some other people were also expecting to see evil eye on there.
I think The Storm We Made will be on the list. With both Julia and Wifedom I feel like I need to finally read 1984. Great list. The Night Alphabet sounds intriguing and I've seen it in other predictions list. It's something different. Not long now til we find out.
Love your recommendations Charlie....listened to The Storm We Made audio book from netgalley in January. Absolutely tragic & is brilliant, definitely thunk this one will be longlisted. Will reserve some of the ones you think will be longlist from the library 😊
Woo hoo predictions time! I rejected The Fraud but you’re making me think I shouldn’t have. I’d be so happy if Julia was listed just so I’ve read one. Also so I can find more people who don’t like it like me and not feel like the odd one out. I think we have lots of overlap - 5 books this time! I think we’ll be seeing new books that have had no prize hype. Can’t wait to find out what they’ve chosen that I’ve never heard of. I axed Come and Get It but it was originally on my list. 😂
I still haven’t read Study for Obedience - I promise I will if it gets listed! I would love a historical fiction heavy list. 🤞🏻 I’m super excited for Soldier Sailor too - I hope it gets listed so that I can push it up the TBR. Mrs Gulliver is a great shout. I’m getting so hyped for Enter Ghost, I’m seeing that one EVERYWHERE! Fab list matey!! Can’t wait to see what makes it 🤩
I have no predictions but I’m looking forward to the longlist announcement. Of the books you mentioned today, I’m most intrigued by Anna Smaill’s and Joelle Taylor’s.
We have a few predictions in common! I have predicted R.F Kaungs Yellowface just because I personally loved it 😅. But I also would love to see List of Suspicious Things and Pet, just because those two really intrigue me and I'd probably want to read those anyway. I'm so excited to see this year's longlist!!
So many of them I haven't even heard of! But that is very exciting. It looks like an amazing longlist that's going to take us for a journey around the world.@@CharlieBrookReads
Your list is great! I'd be pretty pleased if that were the longlist (can't wait to find out what's on there and get reading!) Of the books you haven't mentioned, I'd really like to see Green Dot by Madeleine Gray on there.
Great list Charlie! Love to see other people's predictions haha The Fraud didn't even make my long-longlist because I disliked it so much 😆I'm so surprised you're the only other booktuber's list that has included Study for obedience, it has huuge Women's Prize vibes! ooooh so interesting to see Mrs Gulliver - I very quickly googled it for my list and didn't think of adding it on, but now it's interesting to hear you talk about it! And I love to see people's wild cards! We all highlight such different books and it's wonderful! Shows how much choice there is out there!
I have had a few positive comments from subscribers regarding Bird Life. It is one that I'm interested in, butvery scared off. Thank you for introducing me to Hidden Fires. I know I got a bunch won't in my prediction, but I checked The Museum Of Failure and it has a UK publisher (Swift Books) and came out September or October. So is eligible. I would love The Wren The Wren and Enter Ghost to make it. I hope you're wrong about The Fraud and the new Kiley Reid, which I found so disappointing,as I would looking forward to it.
I own The Storm We Made but I haven’t read it. I am waiting for Soldier Sailor to be released in the US. Really looking forward to that one. I am really hoping the list will be good and not heavy on experimental prose.
Hello Beautiful by Ann Napalatano is the best book I have read this year. I can be one ahead then. The Fraud because I have just borrowed that. I would like to see Joel Taylor listed
So glad to see this comment - Hello beautiful isn’t getting mentioned in any predictions but I remember reading it thinking how perfect it would be on the longlist!
I was disappointed with the new Kiley Reid, so not for the list in my opinion. I just finished Soldier Sailor and it is very good, I also recently read Ordinary Human Failings by Meagan Nolan which was also very good and another Irish writer. I hope to see an Aussie book, there have been a few very good books this past year but I'm not sure of UK dates. I can't wait to see the surprises on the longlist. Such fun.
I really want to read Ordinary Human Failings so 🤞It’s a shame Kiley Reid’s new one disappointed you. Yesssss definitely hope that this is the year we finally get some Aussie fiction back on the list 🤞☺️❤️
ooooo what a fantastic list!!!! getting me excited for the womens prize!!! xxx
Not long to wait ….eeeeek!!!!

A year is such a long time it's hard to pick - and some years we get all the books nobody has heard of!!

Thank you Sarah …not long left to wait!!!

Great choices Charlie! ❤
Thank you my lovely 🥰
Great predictions! I'm so excited for the longlist reveal.

Thank you Olivia. I still want to read Evil Eye some point after prize season 😂
I think The Storm We Made will be on the list. With both Julia and Wifedom I feel like I need to finally read 1984. Great list. The Night Alphabet sounds intriguing and I've seen it in other predictions list. It's something different. Not long now til we find out.
Eeeeek so excited Debra!! I will be so shocked if Julia doesn’t make it 😂

So pleased you loved The Storm We Made. I hope it makes it 🤞❤️Thank you for watching ☺️
Sooo exciting to see your predictions and I hope there are some that I will want to read. I think I will read Julia 😊💜
🥰❤️

5 in common is either going to be a good thing or mean they definitely won’t make it 😂😂Super excited not long now!!!
I keep seeing Land of Milk and Honey on predictions lists, and I'm so hopeful that it will get nominated so I'll have an excuse to buy it. 📚👀
Yeah it’s a fab book!! ☺️
I still haven’t read Study for Obedience - I promise I will if it gets listed!

I just looked that up and it looks fab so I saved it to my wishlist. Thank you for that recommendation Sarah ☺️
@@CharlieBrookReads Great! I really hope you enjoy it if you get to it. Look forward to following along with your videos and the plodalong! 🙂

I completely agree. I love seeing everyone’s lists. So many exciting books were published in the last year❤️
Hi! If you get this in time can you tell me the EST time for the PlodAlong? Anyone else can’t do time zones?
3pm your time is the start of our live show lovely or 1pm for the actual longlist time☺️
Great picks! The only one I am really hoping for is Falling Animals. Not long to wait now!
I hope it gets listed too as then I am more likely to get to it quicker 🤞☺️
the night alphabet is such a good shout, I am currently reading it and so far so good!
Well I will definitely read it whether it gets listed or not. Pleased you are loving it so far ☺️
I have had a few positive comments from subscribers regarding Bird Life. It is one that I'm interested in, butvery scared off. Thank you for introducing me to Hidden Fires.

Yeah a had a few other comments about The Fraud & Come & Get It ❤️Shame as they were anticipated reads.

I totally agree about hoping there isn’t too much experimental prose Anita. Not long now!! ❤️
💛💛💛
❤️❤️❤️
I am not as excited as I was for the nonfiction longlist or as I am for the International Booker, but I am still curious.
I am very excited for the international Booker too although more out of curiosity 😂❤️
I’d be really happy with this long list!
Thank you, cross fingers 🤞❤️
Unfortunately I can't join the plodalong this time and I am very sad about it. But I surely will watch the recording.
No worries lovely ☺️
Hello Beautiful by Ann Napalatano is the best book I have read this year. I can be one ahead then. The Fraud because I have just borrowed that. I would like to see Joel Taylor listed
Well I hope that one makes it especially as it’s a Little Women retelling ☺️🤞❤️
So glad to see this comment - Hello beautiful isn’t getting mentioned in any predictions but I remember reading it thinking how perfect it would be on the longlist!
@@leannerenowdenI got over excited and confused and just saw the word March forgetting which March! 😅
Thank you for letting me know - so sad! I was so sure it would be on the longlist 😂
The Wren, The Wren and Enter Ghosts are books I'm super excited.
Yeah I definitely will be heading to those whatever happens ☺️
I have not heard Absolution by Alice McDermott mentioned
I know Gem wants to read that one!! Let’s watch this space as it could still get listed ☺️
I think you picked every book I would have picked and want to see make the list.
Thank you Brian, I think we do have quite similar reading taste. Hopefully it will be a list filled with books that excite us ☺️🤞

Great picks although I don’t want to see Bird Life on the list; it reeeeally doesn’t appeal to me.
Haha yeah Bird Life is NOT a Kit book 😂
I know I'm getting way ahead of myself but wouldn't it be amazing if Julia won the fiction prize and Wifedom won the non-fiction prize? 🤯
Love where you're going with this! 🤩
Haha yesssss I love that idea ❤️
I have read both of them
@@annegibson6072 Oooh, I haven't read either yet but definitely planning to. What did you think of them?
