- As many of you know my lovely friend @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf recently died. This video is just me crying mostly, chatting and remembering bits. I don’t make any sense and there is so much I forgot to say. Like about Alice loved Demon Copperhead (actually the three of us did myself & Gem). How she gave me Fight Night by Miriam Toews a couple years ago for my bday and I loved it. I read Five Little Pigs this year and gave it 5⭐️.
I could probably do a whole video about books that Alice influenced me. Tell me in the comments your favourite Alice books as I would love to hear about them.

Oh Charlie, as you say Alice was someone that when you met her you couldn't help falling in love with. I feel privileged to have known her just a little and so have an inkling of what a precious friend she was to you. I'm so glad I didn't pull out of being on the plodalong just after breaking my shoulder. At the time I thought it had been daft but now I wouldn't have missed that for anything.

We have discussed grief many times over the years, regardless of experience it is always a torturous time. You say you are all jumbled but I honestly don’t think you could have expressed what Alice meant to you any more eloquently. I'm still in shock about Alice's passing 😢 i was ( and still am ) a Huge fan of hers ! Her Love for books and boundless enthusiasm for finishing her Giant TBR will be so very missed ! I will think of her when I pick a book up . I'm so sorry for your loss ! I wish i could have met Alice.

You, Gemma and Alice and the Plodalongs are the reason I’m now an avid watcher of Booktube videos. That must have been so hard Charlie, but you did Alice proud. When I heard the news I immediately thought of her family of course, but right after that was you and Gem. I never got to watch the plods live but so enjoyed the interaction between the three of you and your guests when I watched later. Alice was usually the quieter one who would then come out with some wicked comment and make you laugh and seemed such a sweetheart. She will be much missed. A memorial live sounds a wonderful idea so I’ll keep an eye out for that. Much love ❤

Hello Charlie, I know how much you all loved Alice. I miss her very much. I also am a mystery lover, like she was and she gave me one of the best recommendations from the women’s book prize, which was “careless“. It was hard for me to get that book because I live in the states, but I will treasure that book as a memory of Alice. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing?

She was amazing in the plodalongs, kept everything together and was always so calm and eloquent, as she also was in her own videos.
