1997 Mercury Mariner 60HP Thermostat Replacement
This old outboard is still running hot. Since we already changed out the water pump, it's time to put in a new thermostat. This is an easy and straight forward swap, with 4 easily accessible bolts. And doing it yourself will save money and weeks worth of waiting for the shop to do it. I opted for an aftermarket thermostat, and it didn't come with a new cover gasket. While the gaskets can be reused, you may want to ask if it comes with one. If it doesn't, order one for a couple dollars more.

Grilled Rainbow Trout {Catch & Cook}
มุมมอง 2321 วันที่ผ่านมา
I had the day off work, so Hunter and I headed out to do a little fishing. We wound up with one nice rainbow trout as well as a few smallmouth bass! Back at the house we decided to grill and enjoy a nice dinner outside. Trout, green beans and corn on the cob hit the spot! This is a super easy way to enjoy trout and requires minimal spices, we opted for just lemon pepper. Remember to SUBSCRIBE, ...

    Not sure why they don't just sell the rod by intelf. Not sure how but this is the first ugly stik rod I've broken trying to lift a fish up like a crane. I think they used graphite on the lower part to try and give it some kind of backbone. That's where it broke. I found it strange it's a medium action instead of an ultra light for this size rod. I miss when you could bend ugly stiks in a circle and they just wouldn't snap. First thing I did when I got this rod was swap out the reel. Now I have a zebco dock demon I swapped out the reel on and I've yet to break it. Just have to fish it a bit different since it has no backbone.

    • @wandervieoutdoors
      @wandervieoutdoors 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If it broke like that, I’m going to guess there may have been a nick in the rod. I’ve put a ton of force on this thing and it won’t break.

    What is the vent? I have lived off trout for a year and have never removed it. After guts are ripped out, rinse, stuff with oranges, lemon and maybe a bit of butter if you’re not catch and cooking at camp, foil wrap it or cook in a pot/pan with a lid till done. With the lid, it makes everything super juicy and flavor saturates in the meat as well.

    • @wandervieoutdoors

I ran ME some spider wire braid on there. I think it’s like 15 pound test but 5 pound tester 8 pound test diameter it’s a little thick for the real but I only run about 25 yards on it. I Love it. It stays in my truck. It is my ditch guppy pond hopper. W a fanny pack full of soft plastics. • @wandervieoutdoors
      @wandervieoutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could put higher test line on it, but you will lose spool room. My thought for some bigger cats and the original reel is to use 12-20 lb braid so it would spool up and still have a decent amount of line. And yes, there is a full episode review that I did a year ago in the videos section of the channel page.

    That’s a great thing that they are stocking less and less Brookies. Breeding between hatchery strain brook trout and naturally reproducing brookies seriously screws up the genetics. They should stop stocking any trout at all in creeks that support wild brook trout, but eliminating the stocking or brook trout is a great start

    • @wandervieoutdoors
      @wandervieoutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There was a study done years ago. They found that the stocked brook trout that were placed in a wild producing stream didn’t make it to the breeding period. Whether failure to thrive, or just caught and kept its unsure. The wild trout in subsequent years also showed no genetics from the hatchery trout.

    1) keep’em wet 2) I agree, too many browns and rainbows. They stock browns in a small mountain stream near me and it has a really good native population. Even for a 12-14” brown that water is way too small. So why are they even bothering wasting the time and money to do it? Makes no sense
