What electric fuel sending unit are you using? In tank or the Edelbrock out of tank system? I’m looking into this setup for my GTO!
When I was 19 I built my first engine and it was a pontiac 400. Took about 3 trys to get it right, when it was done it was bore over 60 solid roller cam and 62 ported heads stalin steel valve. Put in a 64 tempest. Fox body mustangs didn't have a chance street racing.lol
We know why the dimple. Poor fitment. I like your idea better.
I have seen way to many seats fall out from other shops over the years. I am always suspect of heads from other shops with new seats installed. Maybe they are alright but maybe they are not. Im not willing to take the chance :)
@dcimotorsports1111 Yep, don't take a chance.
Wow. Havent seen anyone stake a seat in a long time. Some old school stuff should stay in the past. 🤯
Maybe put a honing plate on and pressure check the block? Mystery water leaks do indeed suck.😢
We actually did do just that and we thought we had found the problem.Of which was the multi layer steel head gaskets, but after all that it still is getting coolant in the oil and oil in the coolant. Which is really baffling, because I have seen one or the other, but never both. Here is a link to the video of us pressure testing the block of which it did hold pressure. th-cam.com/users/shortslNjIAvZuZY8 So now we are completely disassembling the engine and my next step is to plug all the coolant holes and put the block in an oven to bring it up to about 250 degree's Fahrenheit then pressurize it.
@@dcimotorsports1111 Yuck. Almost sounds like porosity in an oil galley to allow oil into the coolant? Sounds like you have a good plan. My buddy has a huge powder coating oven we have used to heat cycle new blocks before I have them machined. Not sure if it actually makes a difference but my brain thinks it does! Good luck. Hope to see a video where you have it all figured out.
@@dcimotorsports1111Maybe try to pressurize the oil galleys when you pressure check it....might leak easier one way vs the other when cold?
Dry Deck and Run Methanol Alcohol?
The dry deck part is a definite,No alcohol though. This is going into a Protouring build and will be street and road raced. So need it to run on 93 :)
@@dcimotorsports1111 Is wet sleeved like A Cummins ISX and Detroit Diesel 60 ? Twisted Bottom O-rings during rebuilds were to be avoided or complete teardown again. High dollar Aluminum. Only way to find an internal Flaw hidden onna Block Is X-Ray it.
@@brracing7861 Its not a wet sleeve block and we hard blocked it up to the bottom of the freeze plug holes on the sides. So this one has me puzzled. Not to mention it doesn't start to pressurize the coolant system until it gets around 180 degree's.
@dcimotorsports1111 Tough Call Don. Maybe it back to those MLS gaskets again. Maybe hidden steam pockets are forming. Watched a guy made a video picking up his Steve Morris 540 Dart Block Full We5 cooling system 1000 Hp Pro Charged.Entry Drag and Drive. Steve O-ringed or he calls it his Hoops all 1 piece like Marty Rings we Knuw. Block had reciever grooves machined in. Heads machined groove, 2 slightly different diameters with a Copper Hesd gasket Annealed to his specs. I like my Factory Pontiac 455 iron blocks. When time Want an IA2, MR2 ,or yours. Weight penalty I dont care any. Next time on test stand cooling system filled with Zerex Diesel Antifreeze premix 50/50 filled, roll it outside your shop and leave it overnight. Midwest Illinois and Ohio Cold shows all cold water coolant leaks and Pressurized Hot Leaks too.
Wait till yoi hear Danielle Ponder... black adelle 😉
Is this a new leak ? Or the same one ?
Same leak, now thinking we have a block issue :( Head gaskets are sealed, but coolant still getting in oil.
@dcimotorsports1111 Well, I know that you know what to do next, so, what I will say is good luck.
I had one of these in a '64 GTO, 4-spd, posi. Bought it in the summer of '69. Had it a couple of years. No way did it put out the rated 348 hp, though. More like high 200s I'm guessing after deducting all the accessories consuming some of the power.
The speed calculator says around 270 HP for the MPH those cars ran back in the day. I do know the engines were capable though, because there were several stockers in NHRA trim that showed even a little more than 348 HP :)
I'm watching this again just to make sure I understand. So, you'll be " live " Tuesday evening , instead of wednesday ? If so, take wednesday off. Tell 'em I said it was Ok.
Would love to see this build with another point of compression. In the 90s I built a .060” 455 with a solid flat tappet 10:5.1 compression BBC solid lifters and roller rockers and some smog 6x heads that I ported with an 850 Holley on a RPM Air Gap that I ported. It was in my buddies Silver Anniversary w/3.73s a turbo 350 w/380” converter. At 3750lbs it went 11.90s on Horsepower. We put a 26” slick on it and 73N 63F jet in a Cheater plate and the car went 10.33. That was in 1998 or 1999. Factory connecting rods with ARP bolts and the beams polished and weight matched
Love it !!! Those were the good old days when us Pontiac enthusiast's didn't have good parts to work with. All we had was our brains and determination :)
Looking good, Don! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, your family, your employees, and friends!
Thank U Dave !!! Merry Christmas to you and your Family :)
@dcimotorsports1111 Thank you, sir!
You were able to achieve this with a D Port? I’ve been told a long time now, 240-250cfm is the most you can get out of a d port
These are actually RA4 round ports, but we do get way more than 250 out of D Ports too.
My first car,a new 1964GTO.The legend will make you a Pontiac lover forever.I’ll be seeing you.
Awesome first car !!!! Hope to see you New Years Eve :)
I think you have had a good year. I've noticed a bigger following , and very good conversations with great people . May God bless you in your endeavors of the next year.
I have had a Great Year !!! I agree our youtube lives are actually going in a direction I really hoped for. It seems like all the guys are conversing with one another as well as with Brandon & I which is AWESOME.
Party Time at DCI !
i put a pontiac motor in a "86" monte ss. have to have an indian in every thing;)!!!!
You are a true Pontiac die hard Glenn. You always have been :)
Watching the highlights since I missed the live show.
Is a 428 or 421 block better than a 400 or 455 Dawn also how much are they if so
All Pontiac blocks from 1974 and older are pretty stout. So don't try and find a 421 or 428 if you already have a 400 block.
Pontiac in a Pontiac coach body 100% however I did have a Pontiac in a Chevrolet truck body once and it was a blast I love that thing
Fireball Roberts died racing that car in a firey crash , ironically because he refused to wear a fire suit that NASCAR was trying to mandate. His death caused others to wear the fire suit long before the mandate became rule. This is the sugnifficants of why I had that car.
I forgot about that. Sad :(
The '62 Catalina is yours , it's my Christmas gift to you. As for the Pontiac head, the first Chrome one that you produce , I want. The second one you produce will go on the hood of the Raven of Ed Page ! Lol. He owes me.
Thank u Sir :)
Me personally I would never buy a Pontiac car with a ls motor.... Even if the motor cost $200 brand new I would rather pay $10,000 for a Pontiac motor
But Dons start at $30,000
@@phillipthethird42 He knows I built him a RA5 about 2 years ago :) He had a lifter failure so he is waiting for me to get it back here to swap out the cam and lifters. Chinese strike again :(

Happy holidays
Good evening
I'm back, bitches
I can't think of anything clever, so, I'm just going to leave this one alone by not commenting at all.
Good time.
yes what do you charge to race port a set of 6X heads for 205-210 cfm @ .300 and 275 cfm @ .550 ? I need a set within next 3-4 months. Thanks
That's our Street Strip Porting package and it starts at $1750.00 plus parts.
Send it Back .. Don .. Disgracefull Peice of Garbage 😢😢
5800 what’s up with that?
6800 if you're referring to the rev limiter.
You're not fooling me Don, I know that you know what you are going to do next.
Ha Ha That's because you are a wise man and follow us on our weekly Podcast :)
@dcimotorsports1111 ...and videos.
I’d try that 1 time and completely wipe out the valve seats. 😂
Ha Ha well I have tried to teach several through the years. Some can do it and some cannot :)
Remember the Chinese philosopher , Confusious . When he said ; " ...it don't have to work, it just has to make money " By the time you find out it doesn't work...they already got your money.
Thats A Fact :(
China has a plan to overfill our land fills . Instead of putting tariffs on 'em , lets just ban them all together.
What's the charge for iron head porting? Say to get to 250-260cfm or more?
That starts at $1500.00 plus parts
@@dcimotorsports1111 Thanks Don.

Hi Robert, Thank U Sir for the KUDOS. This is an Allpontiac aluminum block. Tin Indian doesnt make a block for Pontiac's.
This is the video I was looking for thanks
I’ve seen his live’s - this guys knows his stuff!
Thank U For the KUDOS :) I try to be as through as possible and provide a quality service and products. I just discovered this channel, And as a Pontiac nut should in theory love the content but I see all your videos are in 16:9 with black bars on the sides! this is extremely distracting and unprofessional looking, for gods sake turn your phone sideways when filming 😞
Welcome and thanks for subscribing. Yes I know when I film with my phone whether I turn it side ways or not does this. I have asked a couple people with better tech skills than myself what I need to do which I have done, but it still does it. Its an older Note 8 so it might just be I need a new phone.
❤ this Engine... Combination
Thank U :) This is a pretty wicked 800 HP pump gas street build we do. :)
Could be just a Poor Head Gasket or perhaps may have been not fitting correctly on initial build . Will be an interesting one once u tear it down Don . 😢😢😢
